The Punisher
by MeshI've had this movie DVD laying in my house since God knows when, why didn't i ever gave it a shot? well, the trailer looks average, and i heard it flops so i never bother, and that's EXACTLY my problem! Fuck the critics!
The Punisher is entertaining, fast pace movie, awesome action, good acting from both Tom Jane and good old days Travolta. Story is average, i never read the comic book, so it's better - I don't have anything to compare it with.
the only minus point imo is the PG rating? I would love to see gore when a women is being hit by a train, or blood atleast?
Nevertheless, for action fan, give it a shot!

A Clockwork Orange
by Maredark crime drama starring Malcolm McDowell, Warren Clarke, Patrick Magee and Michael Bates. based on the Anthony Burgess novel of the same name. directed by Stanley Kubrick.
the tale of Alex DeLarge (McDowell) and the horrific crime spree of his gang, his capture, and attempted rehabilitation via a controversial psychological conditioning technique.
after hearing for years about how amazing this film is, I decided to finally attempt to watch it... and was extremely disappointed. maybe it's one of those that have to be watched all the way through, in order to appreciate it. but within minutes, I had to change the channel.
I am sorry, but I do not find such a film entertaining. and I would certainly never call a film that shows not one but TWO women being sexually assaulted in such an extremely graphic way, within the first fifteen minutes by the way, a classic.
disgusting.
** UPDATE **
to those who didn't understand my review...
I didn't watch the entire film... just the first fifteen minutes. as soon as they started to cut the clothes off of the woman, I changed it. I just don't find watching someone being raped a decent form of entertainment.
when a scene of rape or abuse is a crucial part of the story (i.e. A Time To Kill, The Accused, Hound Dog) I normally just fast-forward those scenes. but it was on television and I didn't have the option to ff it. I may give it a chance some other time... but I doubt it.
and yes, I know that those things do happen in the "real world". I just cannot stomach any form of sexual abuse and when I watch a film, it is to be entertained and to escape from the ugliness of the world.
but that's just me.posted 13 days ago -

The Mothman Prophecies
by AnnaOne of the few movies that becomes better and better everytime I watch it.
I loved the plot and the atmosphere.
The performances were decent. Especially Richard Gere's performance was pretty good.
This movie is like a wine, which you have to taste many times until you decide if you like it or not and in the end becomes one of your favorites.posted 14 days ago -

Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg)
by ArianetaI learned one think when I watched this film ...Never trust the critics...
When I saw the ratings for this film I desperately want to see it but it was really disappointment... For the first 20 minutes I pushed my self ??You must see it, You must see ...don't close dvd" But unfortunately nothing is changed so I gave up... The only think I remember is the angel face of Catherine Deneuve and the great colours but is that enough? Dialogue set to music and the story was so predictable and so poor... I didn?t see acting or performances or script or direction (to be honest the film had some good shots but that?s all). Sometimes it was so artificial and so fake and that I took great pains to watch it. I never saw a film like this before so weird and so strange? All the emotions are covered by monotonous songs?. One flixter friend said ?If you don't like this, then you don't like movies ? And I have to say that one movie is not all the cinema and If I must like this film to be a true movies lover then I prefer to stay just friend?.posted 18 days ago -

Scream
by Marehorror flick starring Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Rose McGowan, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lilliard, Skeet Ulrich and Drew Barrymore. written by Kevin Williamson. directed by Wes Craven.
a serial killer with a fondness for classic horror films stalks a peaceful community.
my absolute favorite horror film hands down and one of my all-time favorite films. I can recite it word for word and have seen it at least 100 times... just ask my family and friends.
I remember when this film first came along. it was such an interesting take on the whole horror film genre. I loved the mix of comedy and suspense and how it made fun of these classic scary flicks, yet gave a good scare of its own. I instantly asked "Who is this Kevin Williamson guy?" and have been a fan of his work ever since.
people say its cheesy now, but this was the film that revitalized the horror genre for a whole entire new generation.
awesome cast. awesome script. awesome film. love it! ♥posted 18 days ago -

Despite the good cast this seems to be largely unknown?
Undisputed
by DeanA very solid boxing film set in prison. Almost seems to be aimed at one World heavy weight champ in the real world! The boxing scenes are done very well, but the build up isn't as good as say the better Rocky films. Not a bad effort and worth watching when it's on.

Tipping the Velvet
by AliceExcellent movie, in every point of view!! Well the bad thing now: it was a bit to predictable but, who cares?:D It was really long, like 3 hours or something like that but it was worth every minute of it. The actors were all good, I loved Rachel Stirling, Keeley Hawes and Jodhi May acting abilities.
Flixster - Share MoviesNan : Don't you know? Hasn't she told you about us?
Walter Bliss: I know that you were sweethearts of a kind.
Nan: Of a kind? The kind that hold hands? Didn't she tell you that we fuck eachother?!
Walter Bliss: I don't care to use such language Nan. And if I did, I wouldn't use it for anything a pair of girls could do, you need a man for that I think you'll find.posted 19 days ago -

Paranormal Activity
by MeshParanormal Activity is not only earning good reviews in United States alone, here people are also going crazy about it; so i thought what the heck, lets watch it.
P.A is down right creepy, perfect script, eerie surroundings, claustrophobic environment which makes you feel like you're trapped with them inside of it. Tells you the story of young couple, who encounter paranormal activity in their house. They build up the tension so good, that you feel shit scared when the camera going downstairs to check on something. Shot in documentary style, minus the shaky camera (Eat this Blair Witch Project!). Another great thing i realize is, the acting from both lead star; they are fresh, young and talented. They didn't over react, over dramatized, over the top dialogue, just simply average, which the audience can relate too.
I love how the director didn't give away easily, with gore, or scary faces; instead he focussed on the 'paranomal' side, which is blind to human. Footsteps, On - Off lights, humming, etc.
(Best finale scene ever, i never though i would be that scared!)

Tropic Thunder
by mAfter hearing such good reviews, I thought this would be a good, funny movie. The trailer even looked good. However I was disappointed. This is Ben Stiller's and Jack Black's usual schtick which I find tiresome. It's not funny after awhile. And ok, I get that blood and guts was supposed to be fake on purpose, but some of those scenes just got so ridiculous.
The only thing I find redeeming about this movie is Robert Downey Jr and Jay Baruchel. Robert is kinda like the character he plays in which whatever role he's in he becomes that person. He always someone different. He doesn't play the same type of characters. And I like how he can take risks. And putting make-up on to make you look like an African-American is a risk. Which I think Rob pulled off nicely. I also liked Jay. I've liked him in other things as well. He's funny without needing to be so over the top like Ben Stiller and Jack Black are. Plus on a personal note, he's got the cute dorky thing I like. Now Brandon T. Jackson wasn't that bad either. I haven't heard much about him, so I don't know about his acting ability in other movies but I thought he was alright here. I thought the cameo roles were a nice touch.
There was a few laughs here and there. I thought the Alpa Chino/ Lance thing was funny, or Alpa Chino saying to Kirk " Hell yeah! Ha! That's how we all talk? We all talk like dis, "suh"? Yes suh, ha! Yeah mmm-hmm get some crawfish, and some ribs, ha! Ye-aah. You're Australian! Be Australian! Excuse me, Kangaroo Jack!" Or the line where Alpa says something like "You don't say Chineses". I thought the Satan's alley trailer was funny, so I mean it wasn't all bad...but their was just a lot of unnecessary stuff. Let's just say, I don't think I'll be buying this anytime in the future. I will keep tabs on what Rob, Jay and hell even Brandon do in the future.posted 19 days ago -

How To Be
by mIt was a very odd film. Not even the good kind of odd. To me, I felt like the filmmakers were trying to be odd and quirky. It just didn't work. I liked the second half better, the first half seemed....oh how should I put it? Poorly edited. They seemed to jump from one scene to the next without properly letting us know what's going. I don't know, that's what I got from this. The last thing from this movie that I didn't like was Robert Pattinson's hair. I know this isn't anything important to the plot, directing, acting or anything to do with the movie....but it's udder atrociousness of it was distracting to say the least. He does not suit that shaggy hairdo.
Here's what I liked about the film. Mainly the music.I think it suited the movie well and complemented the scenes. In fact, I wouldn't mind buying or downloading it. I also liked Robert's acting in this. As much as I do like the Twilight series, I was pleased that his acting was different here. I am looking forward to more movies of his in the future.
That being said (Or rather written) I honestly don't think this movie is worth your time. I'm sure die hard Rob fans will still want to see this. And they should be happy that he does a good job in this. There just is nothing much else going for it.posted 20 days ago
