| Just Like Heaven - PG-13 | June 29, 2008 | N/A | ||||
| Transformers - PG-13 | When I was young, I was a normal little girl. You know, normal stuff. Like ripping Barbie's head off and throwing her in the trash can (much to my sister's horror) then wandering off to watch Optimus Prime kick decepticon ass with my male cousins. Yes, I was a normal little girl. Why do you ask? Since my childhood dreams came to reality with this flick, you will understand why my rating is this high. the effects are flawless, and it just goes to show that sometimes, Optimus Prime, common sense is the best weapon. Why sacrifice yourself when you could just let the other camp do it themselves? Silly robot. Bumble bee is my favorite, hands down. (Baby, come back~) and the right amount of comedy and action also makes this atop entry in my list. I will never look at technological items the same way again. | June 29, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Meet the Robinsons - G |
When I first saw the trailer for this movie (an advertisement by none other than Frankie and the other frogs about using cellular phones in cinemas), my first reaction was "Oh no. Not another CG non-Pixar Disney movie." Let's admit it. Chicken Little was a total disaster, and The Wild seemed only to be meager compared to the impact made by the hilariously funnier movie, Madagascar. So I honestly thought this movie would go ka-put. Man, was I wrong. At first, I was reluctant to watch it. But eventually, Lewis won me over, and I found myself quite...touched by his situation. The hilarity that of finding out what Lewis' role might be in the future, the Robinsons family, a villain that has absolutely low I.Q. and a T-rex that has a big head and little arms add a charming facto to the story. What really won me over was the message. I could somehow relate to Lewis about finding a place in the world, where people would support him instead of rejecting him even if he made a mistake. Needless to say, I found myself getting emotional in the ending. This one beat out some of my favorite movies on the list. The song "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas fitted this movie, adding a heartwarming touch to it. I definitely recommend it to anyone. |

| Mulan - G |
Story: Mulan wants to bring honor to her family. But since the local dating service a.ka. matchmaker is pissed with her, she can't exactly do it the womanly way. When an upcoming war summons her father to the battlefield holding a cane, Mulan takes it upon her duty to substitute. And how does she does this? cross-dress to the opposite gender. This film was amusing, and at the same time, the FIRST ASIAN THEMED animated film I have ever watched, making it a favorite.
Come, join Mulan in this wonderful dragshow on the road! |

| Return to Never Land - G | Since I always seem to be disagreeing with the crowd, I am going to have to say this. ONE of tthe BEST sequels in Disney. Ever. Jane has a more well developed characterization than Wendy had, and the contrast she presented (mature for her age, serious) against Peter (childish, playful) is fun to watch. Bite me. | November 7, 2007 | N/A | |||
| High School Musical 2 - G | This one was actually a bit of a disappointment in my end. Now before you go all macro on me and say "OMG HOW CAN U H8 IT ITZZZ TEH BEST MOVIE EVAR!!!!11!1one!1eleventy!!1" Don't get me wrong. Musical wise, it was expertly carried out. I actually like the song "I Don't Dance". But storywise, it did a face plant. The romance was a bit overexagerrated and overplayed. The characterizations get worse evry time I see it. I'm happy with Ryan Evans' role in this one, but Sharpay's role gets a definite thumbs down. After the ending of HSM1 where it looked like Sharpay actually turned over a new leaf, she's back to I'm-Miss-Bitchy in this one, making Vanessa and Troy the focus of the good again. The romance is too much in this one that it's SUFFOCATING. So fluffy I could stuff a pillow with it. That, dear folks, and it does NOT deliver the correct "High School" aura to it. | October 17, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Aladdin and the King of Thieves - G | They're finally getting married!Fucking FINALLY.I love this movie so much, especially since we get to see little Aladdin, Cassim, and the Prince of Thieves: Aladdin himself! | October 17, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Anastasia - G | I fell in love with this movie the first time I watched it. The songs are amazing, the love story not too much cliched. In my opinion, the perfect flick. It even beats out its Disney contenders. Definitely one of the best movies I've watched. | August 22, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Thumbelina - G | My sister would watch this movie over and over again when we were young. This is probably the only cartoon which I watched back then that had early hints of Michael Jackson, forced stripping and abduction to be married to a frog. FTW. But this movie still gives afresh take on the old fairy tale, but it leaves me one question: WHERE'S TOM THUMB? I THOUGHT HE WAS THUMBELINA'S LOVE INTEREST. CORNELIUS, YOU GIRL STEALER. | August 22, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Swan Princess - G | Here's the thing. During the first part of this movie, I loved it. Love, love, LOVE. The snarky interaction between Derek and Odette was something I didn't get tired of. "If I get lucky, I'll have chicken-pox." And then BAM! She's gorgeous, I love her, lawlz. What the flying fuck, Derek? What happened to all that I'd like her better if she'd lose at cards crap? The sudden rage of hormones was a big turn-off in this movie. Despite that, this is definitely one of those non-Disney movies that has good humor, good songs and likable enough...once you get over the cheesiness of the romance. | August 22, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Hairspray - PG | July 21, 2007 | N/A | ||||
| Last Order: Final Fantasy VII - Unrated | Mad House + Final Fantasy = One of the greatest animation sequences ever. The only complaint I had in this one is the time span. 30 minutes of the good animation is such a hanger, it would make you want to ask for more. I mean, with such excellent quality like this, why go back to the lego blocks of the original game? This also gives us a clear view of what really happened during Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth's stay in Nibelheim (seeing that the game doesn't actually make it clear.) | July 17, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Final Fantasy X-2 - Unrated | July 17, 2007 | N/A | ||||
| Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - PG-13 | I am a biased person. I give this a five out of five because of Evanna Lynch. Because she just carried this movie for me. Never mind that the veil didn't look like drapery, that Harry and Cho's kiss was effing long, that Umbridge was the scariest person I ever watched, that they cut out quidditch, that they didn't show the wizarding hospital, that SIrius died and Hary didn't break Dumbledore's office because of it and that Hermione and Ron didn't get enough scenes. The Harry and Luna scenes in this movie made me a happy shipper. THANK YOU. | July 16, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Spider-Man 3 - PG-13 | Seeing Peter Parker make a complete fool of himself by acting like some super cool bimbo is perfect, I tell you. Perfect. Spider-man 3 breaks away from ol' Spider-man 1 and 2 and shows a different side to the hero we all love. (And in J.J.'s case, hate.) The fight scenes are epic, and the tag team between Spider-man and Goblin Jr. is fantastic. A complete shame that Harry Osborne had to bite the dust, because it would have been cooler if they let him live, and that there were more tag teams with spidey in the future. This movie is a legend. Plus, we get to see Tobey Maguire dance to the tune of "Fever". | July 8, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End - PG-13 |
A fitting end to a trilogy. Though how a kid who's supposed to be dead from the beginning of the movie come back to life at the end is beyond my comprehension. The fight scenes are seamless, and the romance isn't overdone. I actually find the twist of wedding the main love couple in the middle of a raging ship war to be quite romantic. ....what? Why, wouldn't you guys find that romantic? Because I do. |

| High School Musical - Unrated | Probably the first Disney Channel Original Movie I ever patronized. Normally, I can't stand High School romances. But if it's a musical we're talking about, well count me in! And this movie delivers the overly0used jock-loves-nerd cliche in a fresh way. Consider me as someone who fell in love with this movie. | July 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Cardcaptor Sakura - The Movie - Unrated | Kudos to Madhouse for making a good movie. Though, I'd wish they would have squeezed the other cards that they didn't bother showing up in the other series (Wave? Libra?). Along seeing Li's totally cute and scary sisters, Madoushi and Hong Kong itself, this gets a four out of five. | July 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Tsubasa Chronicle the Movie: The Princess of the Country of Birdcages - Unrated | I only watched this for the series sake. And I immediately regretted it. Bee Train doing the series should have been a major hint for me to stay away from it, but no. I had to be a bloody masochist. And because of that, I get to watch Tomoyo go mute, Syaoran's hair severely butchered, and the time span itself be cropped to 30 minutes. Can that be even called a movie? | July 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Little Women - PG | I've read the book since I was a wee, small kid. And it doesn't disappoint...much. (Still can't get past the Jo/Bhaer thing.) Winona Ryder does Jo justice, and the movie itself is a good adaptation of the book. | July 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) - PG | This movie is the epic first of the seven years of angst later on to follow. It screams out INNOCENCE and trolls in the dungeon. This, is Harry Potter the 1st, my friends. | July 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Cardcaptor Sakura - The Movie 2 - The Sealed Card - Unrated | Cardcaptor Sakura is a shoujo anime, complete with magical transformations, blushing couples and all that jazz. How to balance all that out? With general heaping of angst, of course. CLAMP does it by throwing that equation from the end of season 2 back at us again: what if there is no LOVE? Tragedy it would be if we don't get a happy ending because God knows that they didn't exactly pull off a good ending like in the manga in the tv series. Although seeing Syaoran and Sakura dance is absolutely the sweetest thing I've seen, this would have rated higher if the ending wasn't such a cliffhanger. LITERALLY. | July 3, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children - PG-13 |
I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy series. No shit. Over the past, we've associated Final Fantasy with a lot of things. Androgyny, giant chickens, and homo-erotic outfits. With the Final Fantasy; Spirits Within movie, it's more of a case of What-the-hell-were-you-smoking-when-you -made-this-movie? It's just WHUT. Now we get a movie that not only gives us the signature hair rise, moogles, materia and sexy leather outfits. We also get cool chase scenes and battle scenes that rival Dragon Ball Z. And Denzel shouting out "You son of a bitch!" is just PRICELESS. |
