    Fish Tank Fish Tank
    by Daisy
Fish Tank was the story of 15 yrs old Mia. She was raised in a single parent family. She has her own inner world, with dancing as her big passion. Then Mom brought a boyfriend home, Connor, played by Micheal Fassbender. Mia felt attracted to him. He gave her some attention, she was always missing, maybe the father figure? Right from the start there were scenes that were hard to take. All felt so real, thanks to the Director and the acting. There was much more then only a storyline that the girl got involved with her mother's boyfriend and everything got even worse after that.FISH TANK won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival this year and after watching the movie it was easy to see why. It was full of outstanding performances with depressive and uplifting scenes. It was a good and powerful movie without being too emotional. Worth watching.

That's probably because they're festival films and most of them are not released yet. We have Free Zone film festival in Belgrade these days - it's closing tonight... so I (like always) spent these 6 days there. This year's selection was especially good.

    Local Color Local Color
    by Daisy
Local Color was an enjoyable movie to watch. It brought you in to the world of painting and it was interested to see how they can put life on canvas. The characters struggled with their fears and shortcomings while following their dreams and doing anything to make them come true. The movie made you laugh, because it had some funny moments and also made you feel the frustrations of the characters. The lead character John was faced with many difficult challenges as he struggled to become a respected painter, but as the movie progressed, he found real friendship in his teacher and he taught him to find confidence while expressing his feelings on canvas. A wonderful movie to watch.

Anonyma - Eine Frau in Berlin (A Woman in Berlin) Anonyma - Eine Frau in Berlin (A Woman in Berlin)
    by Daisy
Eine Frau in Berlin was the story of diary found many years later of an anonymous woman who wrote her life during the end of WWII and the Soviet invasion in Berlin in 1945. During this time she and some residents of Berlin were brutally treated by the Russians. To survive this nightmare, she entered a relationship with the Russian leader. The leading role was perfectly performed by German actress Nina Hoss and the rest of the cast was German & Russian actors who really lived up to their roles. This true story gave an interesting sight of WWII specially how these women lived within a world in which they were raped daily by the soldiers.

'The more you get to know everyone, the more alone you become.'
Giving out our privacy for everybody to own - are we aware of the price we pay for living in public? A mesmerizing film - something every young person (especially the ones addicted to the internet) should see.

New approach to rape and revenge topic - fresh and a bit terrifying - makes us wonder 'who are we to judge anyone?'. Simple, background sounds play the main role here and, together with interesting music that blends in so well, lead the story in such an amazing way - without them the film wouldn't be half as strong as it is. Emotional attack in a way - making you anticipate something all the time throughout the film.

My Blueberry Nights My Blueberry Nights
    by Daisy
I am not familiar with Wong Kar Wai movies, but Blueberry nights was such a disappointment. Norah Jones is a singer, not an actress, and her acting was so bad she could not carry the movie. The best performances in the movie came from the supporting actors, Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn and Natalie Portman, who brought more to the movie than it deserves. The movie was so slow paced and the dialogues so pointless. I feel bad for Wong Kar Wai, he could have made a much better movie out of this, choose a better lead actress, I know he is a great director, with many better works on his name. But Blueberry nights was unsatisfying.

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt) Run Lola Run (Lola rennt)
    by Arianeta
Wow I love this movie, I love the red hair girl that run and run like dancer, I loved the music I loved everything. It's too good a movie to be true. It has everything - a great story, two amazing and believable characters, an adventure, a mystery about time. And it is really fast. There isn?t moment with no action. From the start and the lightning-speed exposition to the quirky final credits, this movie grabs you by the throat and some how runs with it. The story is simple Lola (played by the wonderful Franka Potente) is in trouble. If she can't come up with 100,000 marks, her boyfriend Manni will die. But the worst is that she has only twenty minutes to come up with the money. Lola's race to save her lover is repeated three times with minor variations that lead to widely different endings. "Run Lola Run" is set in a brightly-collared fairy-tale world in which the elements of the story can be rearranged and connected at will. Direction plays with nuns, bums, guns, crooks, bankers, ambulances, and policemen is pure delight - it's as if we were granted a glance at the creative process itself, three different drafts of the same story, revised and rearranged until the final version satisfies. And the soundtrack, an integral part of Lola's full speed flight through the city, should be on everybody's dance list. But above all it's the story. So simple that you can sum up in one sentence then you know that you have a great one: "Lola has twenty minutes to come up with 100,000 marks and run through the city to rescue her true love." And she does it, and then she does it again, and then she does it again. Lola is amazing.

El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secret of Her Eyes) El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secret of Her Eyes)
    by Daisy
El Secreto de sus ojos was my second movie, that I saw from South American director Campanella, the first one was El hijo de la novia. And won't be my last one. I will definitely look up for more movies of this marvelous director. The whole movie blew me away, the plot, the performances and directing. What was remarkable were the close- ups, the director made sure all expressions in the faces, the wrinkles, the words not spoken but shown with the eyes, desires, were perfectly filmed. An unpredictable thriller with good twists.
question: is Ricardo Darin in almost every Campanella movie? I wonder. Great actor.

Absolutely loved it! Amazing realization of an interesting idea - the pace of the film is just right, the story draws you in and you can't help yourself - one moment you feel like crying and the next you can't stop laughing. Touching and real - I really want to watch it again!
