Jennifer's Body
by JeffThis movie was very entertaining and fun to watch. Now Megan Fox may have got top billing for this movie, as well as having her picture on the movie poster, but it Amanda Seyfried who was the star of this film. Amanda gave a very strong performance and this movie would not have been as good as it was without her in it. Megan Fox was good too but Amanda Seyfried steals the show. The supporting cast for this film was okay. I liked the plot of the movie it was a unique slant for today's horror films. They also put together a pretty good soundtrack for this film as well.

Funny People
by MikeJudd Apatow has proven to be a consistently good film-maker. Ever since I saw his TV show Freaks and Geeks, and the brilliantly funny The 40 Year-Old Virgin, I've had a tremendous respect for his work. Because he delivers every time, and all the movies he's put out so far have been well above the average. As for this film, it's certainly no exception. The dialogue is superb and flows so well and naturally, that you may think it was all improvised and made up on the spot. Most of it probably is, because it felt more like the actor's own words, as opposed to pre-written dialogue. As it comes to the acting, it keeps an equally high level. Adam Sandler gives us the whole spectrum of his capabilites, jumping back and forth between being funny and serious. His chemistry with the rest of the cast is nothing short of perfect. However, altough it's much like a semi-biography/self-parody of his life and acting career, it isn't just his movie. Because beside him is a top notch supporting cast, including a lot of fun and unexpected cameos. The film isn't without it's flaws and downsides though. First of all, it's way too long for its own good. The first half flies by pretty fast, but the second, which holds most of the drama, got pretty draggy and long-winded. Less is always more, and that's something a great writer like Apatow should know by now (but maybe I shouldn't say much, considering how overly long this review became). Anyhow, if you liked his previous movies, you're bound to enjoy this one as well. Especially the stand-up parts, which alone makes it worth the watch.

Death Sentence
by MikeSolid drama-thriller, about a corporate executive (Kevin Bacon), who after the cold-blooded murder of his son, goes on a personal vendetta against the assailants behind the horrific deed. As you may have guessed by now, the story doesn't hold much originality, but it's an exciting film nonetheless, that kept my interest from beginning to end. You could definitely sense it was directed by the same guy who made the first Saw movie, as it has a similiar music score and camera movements. It doesn't always fit what goes on on-screen, but it works for the most part. The only thing that really bothered me was all the illogical character actions. Granted that suffering a major trauma may put your mind into a state of disarray, but many of the choices that Bacon's character makes are flat-out stupid. The ending could have been a little better also. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it was a bit too depressing for my taste. Other than that though, there's not that much to complain about. So if you're in the mood for a good revenge story, this is no doubt a safe pick.

Zombieland
by MikeCoolest zombie movie ever! Altough Dawn of the Dead from 2004 is still my #1 favourite, this comes at a very close second and is certainly the best one in the comedy subgenre of zombie flicks. What makes it such a winner, is primarily the entertainment value. It's funny, action-packed and stylishly directed. Something out of the ordinary, yet still within familiar zombie territory. As for the cast, it couldn't have been much better than it was. I haven't seen Woody Harrelson in any comedies in a while, so it was great to see him back in the spotlight again. But the true highlight of this film, has got to be the cameo by Bill Murray. It was hilarious to say the least, and the funniest thing he's done since Kingpin in 1996. All things put together, the end result is a highly enjoyable movie experience. One of my absolute favourite comedies of the year.
