Alba has got to be the most overrated Actress today.

The movie could've been decent, but a stinker ending and the ridiculous acting from Alba and her Psychiatrist.
Jumper Jumper PG-13 3.0 Stars
This movie was pretty dang good, especially on DVD, with all the extras.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets National Treasure: Book of Secrets PG 2.5 Stars
I preferred the first one much better. I am fine with sequels, but this one was just way too much of the same thing.

Shane's Favorite Movies

Saving Private Ryan 1. Saving Private Ryan R 5.0 Stars
This movie was great. I despised Pvt Oppum. I loved Sizemore and Hanks characters. The fact that this movie started the push to building a Memorial for WWII vets in Washington D.C. means that it goes beyond Entertainment.
Batman Begins 2. Batman Begins PG-13 5.0 Stars
Caine and Bale were awesome. Perfectly cast. Nolan and the writers take on the Batman universe is fantastic. Seeing the creation of Batman was great. The action was there, the ending was great setup for future sequel. The only downer was Katie Holmes, which they have fixed in TDK.
I Am Legend 3. I Am Legend PG-13 5.0 Stars
Do yourself a favor and check out the Alternate Ending. I am a sucker for end of world movies. This one wasn't a let down. I would've liked to have seen a mix of the two endings, but the ALT is more satisfying. Will Smith does a great job with his comic approach and the emotion when necessary.
Iron Man 4. Iron Man PG-13 5.0 Stars
This movie was cast perfectly. A lot of Stark's punchlines had me rolling, especially when interacting with the Soldiers and the Hot News Writer chick. Favreau does an awesome job, right beside Raimi and Nolan. I thought the rehashed villian was weak. The After Credits "Bonus" was cool.
Black Hawk Down 5. Black Hawk Down R 5.0 Stars
Directors Cut DVD was fantastic. Perhaps the best set off Extras ever on a DVD release. This movie told the story of Mogadishu so well. Hartnett did a damn good job. Well directed.
The Prestige 6. The Prestige PG-13 5.0 Stars
This movie was great. Biased because Bale is among my fav. actors, but the Twists and story in this movie are fantastic.

Enjoyable if predictable tale of two men linked forever to the past. "Falls" short in the end.
If you are a big fan of either costar you will probably enjoy this one.

Home of the Brave Home of the Brave
    3.5 Stars by Derek
This is not a war movie... it's a movie about war. Home of the Brave has been the best movie to date on the psychological effects our soldiers endure when they return home from Iraq. It's riveting to see the demons they face. Truly inspirational... And don't worry about propaganda because it's neither Pro nor Anti War, the film does a great job of remaining completely neutral.

This film boasts an A list cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, Christina Ricci, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Presley, and 50 Cent, who was surprisingly impressive in this action drama.

Don't be fooled, if you're looking for a movie chalk full of dead bodies, blood, and missing limbs, then this is not for you. The first 20 minutes is intense however (think Black Hawk Down), but the remainder of the movie is deep and touching.
A good movie about the effects of the Iraq War. Great acting... I never realized the demons they face when they get home.

This is one of my all time favorites. It's nothing like a good old classic. It's far better than the remake "Poseidon" with Kurt Russell . I remember when this first aired on TV. If you get a chance to watch both, do so. Then you can compare. I'm sure you will enjoy the performance.
Hey, you should really see this classic !_! You'll be surprise on how much you will enjoy the amazing performance from a season cast.

Same story but a different approach from the 2007 version. While the latter is visually appealing, the former's dialogue is superior, which goes a long way to explaining the motives and actions of the principals better.

I've seen enough horror remakes to recognize a bad one from a good one at first glance.

The trailer that played before Hellboy II makes this look like a bad one.

The Dark Knight The Dark Knight
    5.0 Stars by Duncan
Surpassed all of my expectations, and expectations were high. This is the only film I've seen worthy of both it's hype and it's praise.

It exceeds Batman Begins, and every other film based on a comic book, by leaps and bounds. This film knocks it out of the park in almost every aspect, from the jaw-dropping cinematography to Hans Zimmer's beautiful score to the richly written and developed characters.

And what a cast there is to fully realize these characters on screen! The best actors from Begins return for another round, and all were brilliant for the most part. Christian Bale's "Bat-voice" gets grating after a while, but that's a minor quibble.

The best performances in this film, however, were by the three newbies to the franchise. Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance as Rachel Dawes, the love interest of our protagonist, made us care for her even if she was more of a cardboard cutout than the male characters the film focuses more on. Aaron Eckhart was fantastic as Harvey Dent. He switched between charismatic and charming to tortured and menacing flawlessly. Sadly, but understandably, it's a brilliant performance that's overshadowed by another one in the same movie.

Heath Ledger immerses himself in the role of the Joker to the point where he's completely unrecognizable. His handsome face is hidden by hastily and violently applied clown makeup, and his deep voice and Aussie accent are transformed into a nasally, sleazy drawl. The Joker is a madman with nothing to lose or gain, and a terrifying one at that. It's a tour-de-force performance, and thankfully, for now, not the last performance from the late Ledger that we'll have the pleasure to see.

A comic book film that takes the source material seriously is a rare and beautiful thing. Even the best of them tend to either try and keep it fun and campy as well as insightful (the first two X-Men films, for instance) or greatly deviate from the source material's tone and/or plot (A History of Violence comes to mind).

Thankfully, The Dark Knight was handled very seriously by director Christopher Nolan, much more so than Burton and Schumacher, and it winds up being a powerful tale of what makes a hero a hero.

I'm going to see it in the cinema a second time, and the last time I did that was for the first Spider-Man film. This is the best movie of the summer, and it's going to be hard for another film like this to top it.
This isn't a recommendation. This is a request.

I'm asking everyone on flixster to resist the urge to send me a recommendation for this when it comes out. I don't care how good it winds up being, or if (by some miraculous happenstance) it didn't live up to expectations and you wanted to warn me.

I'm as equally anticipating this movie as much as the great majority of you. I don't need any extra motivation to see it, nor will the most convincing argument against it prevent me from checking it out.

I assure you, my ass (or "arse", take your pick) WILL be in a cinema seat, but NOT on opening day. There are two simple reasons for that: I'm involved in a play that's requiring most of my time for the next three weeks, and I won't be able to afford a movie ticket until next week.

So please, don't flood the "My Talk" section of my profile with Dark Knight recommendations. I want to see it, and I'm going to see it.
