Braveheart (1995,  R)
Braveheart 5.0 Stars
Plot: In the late 13th century, William Wallace returns to Scotland after living away from his homeland for many years. The king of Scotland has died without an heir and the king of England, a ruthless pagan known as Edward the Longshanks, has seized the throne. Wallace becomes the leader of a ramshackle yet courageous army determined to vanquish the greater English forces. At the historic battle of Stirling, Wallace leads his army to a stunning victory against the English. Knighted by the grateful Scottish nobles, Sir William Wallace extends the conflict south of the border and storms the city of York. King Edward I is astonished by the unexpected turn of events. Unable to rely on his ineffectual son Prince Edward, Longshanks sends his daughter-in-law Princess Isabelle to discuss a truce with Wallace.

Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) (1998,  PG-13)
Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) 5.0 Stars
Plot: The film is a Chaplinesque fable about the power of imagination set against the stark reality of World War II Europe. The film combines satire, physical comedy, social commentary and a touch of the surreal into a uniquely moving story of love. At the center of the fable is Guido, an enchanting individual with childlike innocence and grand dreams of owning his own book shop. It's 1939, and he has come to the Tuscan town of Arrezzo with his poet friend Ferruccio. With unabashed humor and joy, the two seek fortune and romance, ignoring the growing anti-Semitism and Fascist government that surrounds them. Guido falls in love with Dora, a beautiful young school teacher, and a fairy tale romance ensues.

Number 2 on my all time favorite movie list.
Winner of 3 Academy Awards:
Best Actor in a Leading RoleRoberto BenigniBest Foreign Language FilmItaly.Best Music, Original Dramatic ScoreNicola Piovani

I think the only movie in history who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture and Best foreign movie.
The most beautiful and touching movie i've seen ever. Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Brasch plays a beautiful couple, they are also that in real life.
Screenplay, acting especially by Roberto and directing was very well done.
You can't believe that it is a movie about Wold War II, because it is a funny movie. Roberto shows that even in bad times like Wold War II, it is better to show beauty and fun to your kid, than be miserable!!! Excellent job and the ending was so beautiful. It made be cry. Don't tell anyone;) Well deserved Oscar for the sound. I bought the soundtrack instantly.

Winner of the Academy Award for
Best actor - Al Pacino
I really like the dancing scene in this movie and the powerful speech from Al Pacino at the end of the movie! 5 stars. I wish i could give 6 stars!!!
Well deserved oscar for Al Pacino and excellent directing by Martin Brest.
Lt. Col. Frank Slade: Women! What can you say? Who made 'em? God must have been a fuckin' genius. The hair... They say the hair is everything, you know. Have you ever buried your nose in a mountain of curls... just wanted to go to sleep forever? Or lips... and when they touched, yours were like... that first swallow of wine... after you just crossed the desert. Tits. Hoo-ah! Big ones, little ones, nipples staring right out at ya, like secret searchlights. Mmm. Legs. I don't care if they're Greek columns... or secondhand Steinways. What's between 'em... passport to heaven. I need a drink. Yes, Mr Sims, there's only two syllables in this whole wide world worth hearing: pussy. Hah! Are you listenin' to me, son? I'm givin' ya pearls here.

All Star master cast, including Kevin Spacey, Russel Crowe, Guy Pierce, Kim Basinger, James Cromwell and Danny de Vito.
The brilliant directing by Curtis Hanson and the poweful novel by James Elroy and the explosive screenplay by Brian Helgeland, makes this movie dark and very excellent. Too bad the movie came out in the same year as Titanic, because i had given this movie the Oscar for best movie.
Dudley Smith: Go back to Jersey, Sonny. This is the City of the Angels and you haven't got any wings.

Best Actor in a Supporting RoleKevin SpaceyBest Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the ScreenChristopher McQuarrie

The most brilliant screenplay ever by Christopher McQuarrie (win Best Screenplay at the Oscars)
Well directed by Bryan Singer. The whole cast is brilliant and the line up scene was priceless. The music score by John Ottman was brilliant. Please keep attention, because the twist at the end, is one the best i've seen in a movie!!!
After that my guess is that you will never hear from him again. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that... he is gone. Keyser Soze.

The Prestige 4.0 Stars
Excellent movie with very good actors, a couple of twists in the story and than the grand finaly. It is told like a magician act.

Quote:
Every great magic trick consists of three acts. The first act is called "The Pledge"; The magician shows you something ordinary, but of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn"; The magician makes his ordinary some thing do something extraordinary. Now if you're looking for the secret... you won't find it, that's why there's a third act called, "The Prestige"; this is the part with the twists and turns, where lives hang in the balance, and you see something shocking you've never seen before.

The ending is shocking and makes you wonder....

Donnie Brasco: Forget about it is like if you agree with someone, you know, like Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass, forget about it. But then, if you disagree, like A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it! you know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like mingia those peppers, forget about it. But it's also like saying Go to hell! too.
