Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
R
What an amazing piece of work crafted by none other than the wizard himself...Tim Burton. Full of ingredients like the amazing genius Steven Sondhiem's writings, the amazing, quirky, legend Johnny Depp, the wonderfully, amazingly talented Helena Bonham Carter, The legendary Alan Rickman and the great Sacha Baron Cohen all under the direction of as I said, the wizard himself Tim Burton you get a result of a mind blowing masterpiece that will have you stunned, thrilled and in awe for every second. Sweeney Todd, like and unlike many musicals has an amazing, artistic darkness..as it is a tragedy. Sweeney (who used to be Benjamin Barker) is a man who is so deeply emotionally damaged from when his family was literally ripped away from him. Now all Sweeney lives for is revenge by killing Judge Tupin...his loathed enemy, the one who was the cause for his years and years of emotional torture. The way Johnny pulls this off is just here comes that word again....amazing. Throughout the whole movie you can see the hurt Sweeney is feeling just in his eyes...Johnny acts this out so well and completely connects with Sweeneys feelings and just delivers it beautifully. Mrs Lovett wishes Sweeney didn't think of killing so much, and rather more of her future with him. She is deeply in love with Sweeney who does not love her back and is constantly trying with her best efforts to have him fall in love with her. But Mrs Lovett also has a darkish side to her, just like Sweeney. Just because someone tried to blackmail Mr T and for it, got their throat cut...she sighs with relief when she finds out with the excuse of "thats a different matter" and says "for a moment there I thought you'd lost your marbles" which is a great joke because actually, in a way...he has. Helena really does a great job as Ms Lovett, really showing her character to the audience well. This movie, all in all...just had me completely and utterly amazed...an old, legendary stroy...redone by another legend with a legendary cast. Most of said story told through song sung by many actors that people would not expect to be singers and they all did the most marvellous job. I give this masterpiece five starts...one that I will definitely be trying to go and see again and again...and eventually buy the dvd to watch again and again. One of Johnny's best...I really do hope he wins his long awaited oscar for this one...otherwise I dont know what he would win it for... mind blowing WOW here it is again....AMAZING!
Finding Neverland

This is extremely close to the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. The way it's focus is on imagination is just so great...we should all be reminded of our inner child, no matter how old, or who we are. Johnny's performance was just great. Something, yet again different than any other role of his and the way his inner child was shown was gorgeous. He was really just a boy inside a mans body. And Kate Winslet's performance in this has made her one of my favorite actresses. Her character she plays, Sylvia is just played so well, her acting is just superb and she just has such a motherly, natural look and feel about her. This film is one that has gotten probably the most emotion out of me. The music just gets me every time...especially at the end! Finding Neverland just bursts with the words creativity and inspiration. It is definitely also a great movie to watch if you're in a down mood... It's so uplifting...and motivating. It gives me the warm and fuzzies :) BEAUTIFUL
