A true emotional powerhouse!!! I cried. I laughed. I enjoyed every bit of dialogue and savored every unique scene of NYC. Amanda Peet and Dermot Mulroney gave two amazing performances. This movie gives me hope in several ways: about filmmaking, life and the power of a good story. It's definitely one of my new favorites.
This movie takes your heart to all the right places. It's exactly what a good story should be. Ryan Merriman and Paula Garces offer two strong performances alongside an extremely well put together cast. Spin will leave your spirit soaring in a big sky of hope, healing and redemption.
Love and basketball never looked so good! This movie is a winner from start to finish. If you've ever liked the boy (or girl) next door then this movie is for you! Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps give great performances alongside a memorable sountrack and offer four strong quarters of heart-felt storytelling.
As a journalist, this is my kind of movie!!! It's one of the best bittersweert love story's out there and Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" makes me cry everytime.
Denzel and Angelina gave two strong performances. They had great chemistry, which was a major plus considering the film's dark tone. I'm not a fan of crime movies but this was one thriller that I enjoyed every moment of the ride. Two thumbs way up!
This movie makes the journalist in me smile and cringe at the same time. It's one wild ride! Kate Hudson is just as dangerously cool as Patrick Fugit is awkardly sweet. Billy Crudup and Jason Lee also do a great job as glamorously messed up rock stars. I suggest this movie for those 14 and up. It would be a good conversation starter for parents to talk about fame, drugs and sex with their teens.
Excellent! It's one of those indie films bursting with creativity. Arin and Susan are two directors with promising careers. Fans of Garden State will enjoy this one.
Tyler Perry did it again! This movie is full of charm, laughs and inspiration. Gabrielle Union sparkles as the beautiful tough-as-nails lawyer and Idris Elba flexes his romantic comedy chops. I can't wait for Tyler Perry's next project!!!
There's something captivating about Ashley Judd. Her performances are deep, easily engaging you to care about her character. This time Judd plays a Southern woman looking to turn her life around to walk the straight and narrow. It's good.
V is a smart sophisticated movie with amazing performances all around. This is exactly why Natalie Portman is my favorite actress. She's able to lose herself in character and draw you in. Two thumbs up!
Book of Secrets offers adventure, witty banter and a fresh approach to historical landmarks. It thrills and entertains in the spirit of Indiana Jones but stays true to its original tone. Justin Bartha and Helen Mirren are two treats as supporting actors. National Treasure makes PG movies look good again!!! I give it two thumbs way up.
The Game Plan is exactly what a family friendly movie should be. Sure, it has its cheesy moments but they're worth it. Plus, the little girl and The Rock have a great father daughter on-screen chemistry.
A visual masterpiece!!! Saawariya is full of vibrant colors, great costumes and beautiful dance numbers. The movie has a magical feeling to it, but be prepared for a bittersweet tale. Fans of Bollywood movies and House of Flying Daggers will enjoy this one. I give it two thumbs up!
A great made-for-TV movie! Phylicia Rashad should get an award for this role. She was dynamic in every scene. Audra McDonald has some great acting chops, she could be the next Kimberly Elise. Sanaa Lathan was endearing as the playful yet headstrong sister and her banter with Combs' character was enjoyable. But the biggest surprise was Sean Combs, I didn't think he could pull it off, but I stand corrected. He did a great job! He really lost himself in the character.
A truly romantic tale. Love, honor, duty...it's all there. The setting is beautiful. And Sophia Myles is a real emerging talent. It's the moments were words are left unsaid that make it special.
An excellent story about meeting someone special. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy give superb performances as two people who meet by chance in Europe. The script is clever and beautifully written. The conversations between the two characters are loaded full of wit and offer realism alongside plenty of charm. It captures those uber romantic feelings when you first meet someone you like and portrays them in a way we all wish they could be. I give it two thumbs way up!
I thought this movie was going to be stupid, but that was until I actually saw it. Now, I really like it! Jay Hernandez does a great job as a leading man. He makes you feel for his character's struggle. I hope he gets more starring roles! Dunst plays the role of crazy quite well and their chemistry is beautiful at times. I especially liked some of the unique shots they got of L.A. and the final car scene is just plain cute. I'll probably end up buying this one on DVD.
Claire Danes is such a great actress! It's a simple yet beautiful story about a Holocaust survivor and her American granddaughter who relate through stories of the past and the present. Every scene and flashback have a purpose. And every interaction is packed with emotionally charged character-driven drama. It's the subtle glances and quiet nuances that make this film so brilliant. If you're looking for typical Hollywood fanfare, you need not apply. But if you enjoy a smart, sensitive and gutsy movie then I Love You, I Love You Not will surely delight.
It's a bittersweet tale of adolescence and the magic of youth. The performances are good all around. Great leads and a great supporting cast. Originally, I went in thinking this movie wasn't going to be good but I was pleasantly surprised. I give it two thumbs up!
Awesome movie! It's not poignant or anything but the action keeps you engaged. Yes, it's violent but they sure make it look cool. Angelina Jolie is stunning, she easily commands every scene she's in. James McAvoy is a likeable lead but his character is extremely similar to Keanu Reeves' Mr. Anderson in The Matrix. Actually, the whole movie steals a page from The Matrix, but towards the middle it takes on a life of its own. It's so good I want to see it again!
It's a quirky story about two socially awkward people who fall in love. The New Zealand setting gives it a unique feel and there are several scenes that make you smile. Loren Horsley does a great job of making you root for her character to get the guy in the end. This film nicely blends romance with an artsy tone and tops it off with a great indie soundtrack. Fans of Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State will definitely enjoy this one!
Outlandishly fun! Kate Beckinsale leads this cast of enduring offbeat characters set in England's countryside. It's a truly charming and delightful movie full of laugh out loud catchphrases like "I saw something nasty in the woodshed" and "Robert Poste's child." Watch the movie and you'll know just how funny they are! I give it two thumbs up!
I'm a huge fan of this trilogy. It was a good to see a musical in the theater. And the music and dance numbers were a blast. It's not riveting but it's fun!
