This compelling and emotionally engaging war movie that tells the Japanese perspective about the battle of Iwo Jima. It is one of my favorite war movies for its subtle tones and meticulous planning. Clint Eastwood reflects upon the plight and bravery of Japanese soldiers in a bold and unpretentious way. The plot is comprehensive showing in-depth strategies, brutality and futility of war. Ken Watanabe has given a stirring performance.
