As a stand-alone movie, it's very good, but Tolkein explicitly asked that no one make films of his books. I am a "purist" and was distracted by the changes the movie made to the original story.
I am not a Lewis "purist," however, I thought the movie did an excellent job of adhering to the story and spirit of the book. Additionally, it was beautiful to watch.
I like it, but there's not much there and it's too long for what is there. It's pretty and the fight scenes are good but that's not enough to carry a movie.
Possibly the best of the Potter movies to date. It left out much from the book but made up for that with the intense adult themes and ominous atmosphere.
