I can't really say that this was a terrible movie, because I did enjoy it to some extent, but in terms of movies, this is really one of those movies where you literally have to turn your brain off in order to watch it. The movie is definitely all based around the action, since I can honestly say that the acting was not very good. Sure, Channing Tatum is, well... nice to look at, but he sure as hell can't act. I suppose for a movie like this, it didn't matter so much though. The plot wasn't extraordinary either, although it did have me constantly asking my cousin questions because I was too anxious to wait and see. There were a few funny parts in the film but I found myself laughing more often at parts which I'm sure weren't supposed to be funny. If you're going to watch it, at least try to find humor in the corniness of some of the "supposed-to-be-serious" lines that they have. Haha, anyway the action wasn't bad. Some of the effects seemed a little fake but I guess ninjas can make anything cool. Not a bad movie to watch if you're in an action-y mood, and a good movie to sit back and watch with a faceful of popcorn.

I liked this movie. There were a few points were the cinematography was a bit corny, but at other points it was quite stunning. I can't say I liked the music, because, while I don't mind Vangelis, I found AGAIN that it clashed with the movie terribly at points just as it did in Blade Runner. I believe that even though it is GOOD music, it was not meant to be "soundtrack" music. Some of the acting was pretty good, although the plot seemed to be lacking at points. Obviously since it was a historical-based film it was important to attempt to follow the historical events. I don't feel that it was too far off (especially comparing with other historical-based Hollywood films) but I felt that they completely skipped over huge chunks of time. I realize that they had to fit many events into "movie length" but I believe it could have been done more subtly in way that didn't simply scream "...so...they won the war". When the narrator has to sum up THAT much, then there is clearly too big of a jump in time. On that point, the jumps back and forth in time could be confusing at times, and I'm not quite sure whether this effect added to, or took away from the movie. All in all, I thought it was enjoyable to just sit back and watch, as the action was interesting, and the story quite inspiring.
