Ordered alphebetically with exception for the top 6 (which are my favorite movies at the moment). I cannot order my favorite movies from best to worst because their ranks cannot be determined accurately. Yes, some of these movies I like more than others, but they are all deserve to be ranked within each other.

The Green Mile (1999,  R)
The Green Mile 5.0 Stars
The second of Darabont's prisonyard masterpieces, and this one has the edge over Shawshank. The number of important messages, subliminal acting, and style writing are so incredibly appealing that you cannot look away for the entire screentime, that being 188 minutes.

Titanic (1997,  PG-13)
Titanic 5.0 Stars
The best love story I've ever seen. I hadn't seen this movie since like before the millenium ended, but now that I saw it again I was really impressed. It somewhat convinced you to think that there might be some kind of future for the two. A very long movie, but the time is used up very well. The character development was very good, and it's just an all around really good movie.

Perfect storytelling. Strange to think what people will really do for money in this world [considering that it's a true story]. Very dark and dry humorous movie. The Minnesota accents, alone, kept me into the movie.

Mystic River 4.5 Stars
The only words I have to mention are, Sean Penn. He was amazing, he played his Oscar winning character as if he is the character (pun intended). The story fits perfect. The irony makes the story work. MR is probably one of the top three best acted movies I have ever seen. Laura Linney's ending monologue sums up the differences that the characters developed since their haunting experience.

Hairspray (2007) (2007,  PG)
Hairspray (2007) 4.5 Stars
I saw Hairspray this afternoon with my friend and I. There were only, at most, 10 people in the theater, but I still happened to have one of the most fun times I've ever had seeing a movie. This is one of the biggest suprises of the year, from my standpoint [only because I'm not a musical-movie person]. The completely star-studded cast was amazing, especially Michelle Pfeiffer and, of course, the supersized Vincent Vega aka Mr. Travolta. But the one who I enjoyed watching the most was Amanda Bynes' character. They all fit their characters incredibly well. Most of the dancing and singing was very entertaining, and adding all of the well-written humor made Hairspray a most satisfying movie for me and probably anyone.

11:14 (2003,  R)
11:14 4.5 Stars
Very good movie that I had never heard of before until my brother had just bought it. After the opening scene it doesn't seem that much can expand from that. But there are some very well-told point-of-views that make the plot creative and intruiging, and some of the stuff that the characters do is just unheard of! But, within all of these events and violence, 11:14 is more of a comedy in most aspects. The music is not the kind of score you would find in, say "Memento" [which is another movie that is told like 11:14 (played backwards)]. The situations that the characters are put in should be taken seriously, but they somehow find a way to make it comedic and entertaining. As the viewer, and after reading some reviews saying that the direction is like "21 Grams," I expected a gritty movie with some twists. Not only did I get those things, I got some comedy. If you havn't heard of 11:14, now you do. Go find it and watch it.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007,  R)
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 4.5 Stars
Andrew Dominik did everything right except it was quite long.
If you look at the title and analyze it, that's what you're going to get with more depth. "The Assasination..." obviously means that someone important or big in society was killed. The word Assasination is not used when your average Joe is offed. "...of Jesse James." This is that famous guy. "...By the Coward" leads us to believe that someone quite envious did the deed. "...Robert Ford" is our focal point. There's your story other than a couple of other simple twists. Casey Affleck had as good a performance as any of the other Best Supporting Actor Noms. The other reason the movie was made was to capture the environment that these people were living in and around. The movie is beautifully shot; the cinematography is Oscar worthy.
I believe that lots of people will enjoy this who have backround information on this subject. The director did a great job of creating what he wanted to accomplish.

Back to the Future (1985,  PG)
Back to the Future 5.0 Stars
Before I thought that this movie was great, but now that I've seen it again for the first time in awhile, it is ALMOST PERFECT! It has everything you want in a movie. Has one of the best stories ever created, and it is hilarious! But the thing that is so great is the irony in it. Just the thought of your mom having the hots for you in past is great! Probably would be ahead of Lord of the Rings if there were better action and special effects (not saying that the SFX are bad, but LOTR was made in the 2000s and BTTF was in 1985-1991).

"My favorite Back to the Future." That was me before now. I just watched the first Back to the Future and it was terrific and now I like it better than this one. But while seeing the first one made me move this one down my favorite of BTTF, it stil made me move both of them up my favorite movies list. The story is almost flawless! I liked how it combined the first into the second. It fascinated and interested me a lot.

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru) 5.0 Stars
My favorite foreign film of all time! The film is so different, which makes it so great. The mood of the movie is so diverse. There would be squirting blood one second, and then there would be a comic relief the next. I don't know if this could be classified as a comedy (very satirical) or an action-thriller type movie. It felt like watching a factual-fiction movie...And one of the themes of the movie was friendship? Interesting and amazing in every single way.

A modern epic among animated films! The voices are hilarious, and without any doubt Patrick Warburton is the best voice of the big bunch. Dreamworks definitely comes up with some of the best ideas for ridiculousness. The only thing that I was unhappy with was that the pacing slowed at the end, but there were parts in between that helped to lift it up. Great job Jerry!

The simple fact that the writer chose John Malkovich is so awesome. Lacks no story originality. Poor John Malkovich during the movie though. I would've never thought that Cameron Diaz could pull off this movie, but she was one of the best characterers.

The story, simply, tells how it is, and it is set out right in front of you...It's a straightforward story, but it has all the intangibles you need in a movie. All the stories of different soldiers are covered extremely well from nearly every angle. The acting is great (but how can it not have bad acting with all those stars?), the action/war violence is as real as it comes, etc. etc. And at the beginning you get that feeling of,"Man, I cannot believe this is based on a true story." Simply, an amazing movie!

A really different perspective of high school drug dealing. I thought that the school related a lot to the school from Donnie Darko. It's really interesting and different how the teens act like they've been in the business for a while and how cool and mature they are. Very different and intriguing film.

What an incredibly intelligent "clusterfuck" of a story? I'm still pondering the point of the essentially pointless 'CIA satire.' The movie is driven almost entirely by the variety of characters; (to be honest, Spoiler Alert, I was bummed when Chad went down). McDormand and Pitt clashed very well with John Malkovich.

Naturally, I'm going to completely love this documentary because Jerry Seinfeld is a genius. Not only is it funny, but it is filled with a bunch of other comedians (Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Gary Shandling, etc.) that assist the making of this film. Comedian shows real insight to the art of comedy. After watching and listening to the reactions of Jerry and Orny, I understand their point-of-views about how difficult it is to make people laugh. But, they don't want the audience to JUST laugh. Comedians want more reactions so that they can establish respect.

Entertaining! Such a fun movie to watch with nonstop action. The things they did in the movie were so...open and unrestricted. I really enjoyed the directing style and some the drug effects that were adapted into the filming style. The story was a bit blotchy. But I don't know what else they could've written better. It had some really funny humor within the film. "Does it look like I have Cunt written on my forehead?" Ha. The ending was good and interesting, but not great. This is a fun popcorn flick to watch with friends.

This movie is a good definition of monumental! This is pretty much a perfect description of how life would be back in the cowboy times or "Custer Times", which is I like to call it. This movie deserved every Oscar that it received without any doubt. When I was younger I thought this was just a slow moving story with no action. But now that I'm beyond the stage of wanting to see EVERY cheesy action movie there is out there, I finally sat down, watched it closely, and it slowly became one of my favorite movies.

I've seen it twice in the past 24 hours. I don't do this that often...at all...or maybe even ever. Incredible writing, Incredible acting, Incredibly directing, Incredible character development, Incredible (anything). This movie caught me way off gurard because it has such a different style than Batman Begins. There were a few plot goofs, but they're nothing worth mentioning. I was never for Maggie Gyllenhaal to replace Katie Holmes because of continuity issues. It's just a filmmaking a pet peeve...Great job Heath Ledger. He puts on the best acting performance in the best movie of the year, so far. The Joker controls the screen. Ledger's performance is the best I've seen since Emile Hirsch in Into the Wild and Sean Penn in Mystic River.

Very funny and, to me, a relaxing movie where you can just sit back and laugh because there is no real conflict. Pretty much any high schooler can compare to this movie to the day. This movie shows the side of high school that people love and enjoy and don't want to change.

When I went into the theater I was expecting something great. And I came out and I was not disappointed in any way. Definitely the best movie I have seen this year! Every character does an excellent job. The humor was very funny, but really dirty. But funny however. Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, and Alec Baldwin were the most entertaining to me (humor wise). I don't know much else to say. There are too many compliments I could give this film. Everything was excellent and just GO SEE IT!
