My Favorite Movies

When Danny Aiello sums it up at the end, it suddenly goes from weird to beautiful. I LOVE this movie.

Everything about this movie is perfect. And it has the greatest cast ever...

Dystopian, nominally cyberpunk, and philosophical: These are a few of my favorite things. And, even sans CG, the FX are better than most of what you see in current movies. This is the greatest sci-fi movie ever. Period.

The visual style and editing make the viewer FEEL the insanity of the characters. Besides being an amazing film, it's also a bold, artistic feat.

Fincher is brilliant. The movie is amazing in every detail. It takes the genre to a whole new level, and one which has yet to be equaled.

Time travel, twisty philosophical and psychological weirdness, Terry Gilliam's visual style, and Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt branching out as actors... What's not to like?

I saw this movie SO many times in the theater, I can't even tell you. Right up my alley.

Fincher and Palahniuk: two great tastes that taste great together. Genius!

In a weird way, the most understated of the Mel Brooks movies -- and all the more awesome for it. Genius moments, genius cast. Pure genius!

I was not as into Fargo as every one else I knew, and my hopes for this one were low. The first time I saw it, I thought it was okay... But then I watched it again and was completely sold. I've since seen it countless times, and am completely in love with this movie.

Terry Gilliam is sometimes so over the top visually (and vibe-wise) that it's distracting. In this one, however, he reeled it in a little and created such a beautiful little movie. Seriously, if you haven't seen this one, do yourself a favor...

Brilliant and beautiful. Rodrigues and Miller proved what I wish every producer and director understood: If your source material is strong, you don't need to tweak it. Leave it alone, and it will succeed for the same reasons it succeeded in its original medium...

One of my favorite movies of all time. A dark, twisted, creepy mystery, with an amazing cast, brilliant direction, and a nice little twist (or two... or three).

The first, and the best. Before Freddy was constantly cracking wise (though there's nothing wrong with that either) and at his most frightening. Plus I LOVED the idea of the dream world...

SO good. Keanu's accent was slightly laughable (of course), but Gary Oldman... y'just can't beat him. He is the real deal. I could watch him as the old Dracula (or anything else) all day. I also loved that Coppola didn't make the usual "modern" vampire movie choices. He did what was right for the material, and the movie soared as a result. Visually beautiful and structurally sound.
