"ROCK AND RRROLLLLLL!" Everything good stuffed into one film. Especially a guitar that contains a sword. That can cut spaceships in half. If you need more of a recommendation, youre a chump.

Dead Man's Shoes (2006,  Unrated)
Dead Man's Shoes 5.0 Stars
Maybe my favourite film of all time. Considine is utterly terrifying, and he's supposed to be the 'good guy'. Each scene leaves you trying to decide if he is going way too far, or whether he's being too calm. The final few minutes will definitely make your mind up which it is. Great dialogue too, and one of the few realistic drug scenes ever shot. The guy stuffed into a suitcase is pretty grim too.

Stacy (2001,  Unrated)
Stacy 5.0 Stars
One of the greatest zombie films ever, with some very clever twists on the theme (e.g people becoming deliriously happy about their fate prior to becoming zombies). This is absolutely faithful to the classic old-school zombie rules (i.e no running/using weapons etc), which is something Hollywood has started to ignore but for zombie fans, is an absolute must. Great gore, very funny and a must-see. One of those 'for the fans,by the fans' films.

Mysterious start, then turns into maybe the most tense film ever, I'm not gonna give too much away, basically once this film kicks off, it NEVER lets up. Excellent, not too many clever-clever twists etc, just a good idea turned into a great film.

A Room for Romeo Brass (2000,  R)
A Room for Romeo Brass 4.0 Stars
Not quite as good as Dead Mans Shoes, but funnier, and Paddy Considine is great in this too, mental but in a different way. The fact his character changes accent every few lines makes him even more hatstand. The row he has with Romeos dad contains some of the funniest lines ever ("you better leave nicely, before things get really dark"). I really dont know what Bob Hoskins was supposed to do in this film though, one of the most pointless non-characters ever.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkk...

I dont know what to say about this really, its a huge stinking mess of pitch-black comedy, extreme grimness and violence thats up there with I.D and Dead Mans Shoes, if you replaced the most unlikeable characters with various punk/noise musicians who are even bigger scumbags. Its like watching a band you're glad you never joined, but kind of wanted to for one gig, out of morbid curiosity. Excellent soundtrack, gradually getting louder and more extreme as it goes on, into some great post-metal stuff.

Its also the most horrible, wrong film I've seen for a while too ;)

As a fanatic of the games, was always going to end up complaining about what got left out, but this was obviously made by a real fan, the look/texture of the town itself is spot on.

Its got Bruce Campbell. As Elvis. The plot is downright mental, but quite a touching film about friendship at the heart of it.

I still maintain that this influenced the lord of the rings films.. very lightweight on the gore front, but Bruce Campbell can't really do any wrong, the scene with all the evil mini-Ash bastards is classic.

Chopper (2000,  R)
Chopper 4.5 Stars
When watching this, Chopper wildly flucuates between being an utter c*nt,and actually being quite alright. How much of the latter was put in by the man himself is open to debate. The part where he headbutts his girlfriends mum made me chuckle, is that bad? ;)

The only romantic film I've ever enjoyed. It does feature a 1959 Cadillac hearse, a joyriding anti-authority granny and some black humour, so that might have something to do with it.

Visitor Q (Bizita Q) 4.5 Stars
Miikes most 'wrong' film, maybe not disturbing in the quiet, omninous way Audition was, but a great film about possibly the most demented group of people who (mostly) get what they deserve. Just the first few minutes will confirm its disturbing, but it just gets grimmer and funnier.

Way more demented than the Korean black comedy its based on, it trades off some humour for big chunks of 'what the fuck??'

High Plains Drifter (1973,  R)
High Plains Drifter 4.5 Stars
Eastwoods best western, in the first few minutes he's killed, fucked and had a brew. Is he a avenging agent of cosmic justice? a reincarnation? a demon? or just a guy taking the piss out of a townload of useless cowards? doesnt really matter. Contains the classic lines: "What did you say your name was again?" - "I didnt". The film that made me realise not all westerns are shit.
