Bart Got a Room definitely has its uniqueness. Just when I thought it was going to be yet another lust-filled teen romp - and it was for a while - the movie got some heart to it. While trying to make prom night perfect in all the wrong ways, Danny finds himself all too often in an awkward moment where candor just doesn't appeal to him. Danny gets caught with his pants down on more than one occasion, and ends up needing his quirky, but faithful dad to come to the rescue. What began as a slightly painful example of the perils of adolescence and peer pressure eventually became a realization of what's really important and a chance at redemption.
It's a worthwhile movie on par with the rest of Malkovich's work (as much as I've seen) but it just didn't resound with me, perhaps because the theme, the moral of the movie if you will, is something I've already figured out for myself. As usual, Malkovich gives an amazing performance.
The martial arts were fantastic! The acting was great, the entire movie was well done up until the climax. The climax was just really weird to me, the moment seemed forced and the camera work felt off.
