Laberinto del fauno, El, (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006, R)
One of the most visually stunning foreign films i have ever seen that encapsulates a fantastic world of imagine and special effects to bring a kind of eery magic to a cold blooded facist Spain in 1944. The labyrinth is beautiful in design, as is the film which differed almost entirely from what i expected from the trailer. The directors work is incredible and he outlines his motives in the DVD's extras, which are excellent in themselves, especially the 'making of...' feature which shows how the mythological characters were created. This is a must see! But its not, by any means, a childrens film, so dont expect fantasy. |
