Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End 5.0 Stars

Another adventure with Sparrow, Turner and Swann.
Barbossa is back from the dead, and they must go to the Worlds End to rescue Jack from Davy Jones Locker. The Brethrin Court must have a meeting and decide on whether they go to war and make their final stand.

I haven't the face for tentacles. But, immortality has to count for something, eh? Oh...

I loved all the POTC movies and this one is no exception.
I just enjoy watchin Captain Jack Sparrow, he's so daft and so brilliant at the same time.
It's just a film you can't think too hard about but just sit back and enjoy it.

The costumes were good as always, and the special effects were good.
Great fight scenes mixed in aswell.

It did indeed have a rather sad ending that did have me in tears. An ending I certainly did not expect at first.
I am glad they have left the story open for another possible Pirates movie.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)

A Burton/Depp classic. The dynamic duo working together again. Was always going to be a success in my opinon. I love their work as indivuduals and when they come together. They always create something truly magical.

Well Sweeney Todd, returns to London after being taken away from his wife and child. He sets up a barber shop above Mrs Lovetts pie shop, and the pair join forces to reak revenge on Judge Turpin who stole Todd's family.

It is a fantastic film. So different to any other musical. A musical with such violence, slitting throats and making them into meat pies while singing is something rather twisted but also enjoyable to watch. It also has a rather sick humour to it which is brilliant.

Johnny Depp was perfect for the role of Sweeney Todd, He became Sweeney and was so believable, which is why Depp is such an incredible actor, and now hearing him sing, is there anything this man can't do.

Helena Bohnam Carter as Lovett was a matchmade in heaven. She connects with Depp, and they work on screen and is something that is wonderful to watch.

Alan Rickman as Judge Turpin, I can't imagine anyone else playing this part but him. Even though at times I couldn't stop thinking of Snape lol.

Sacha Baron Cohen brings a bit of humour to the film. A short part but rememarable.

Brilliant movie all right. Great scenes, and great use of light, or lack of it shall I say.
Very dark and twisted movie and I loved it.

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!
Alba gu bra!

William Wallace has come back to Scotland to settle down and bring up a family but Scotland is in turmoil as the King of Scotland had died without an heir to the throne, so the King Of England, Edward The Longshanks has seized the throne trying to take over the country.
Wallace brings together an army to fight the English winning over the nobles.

This film may be based on true story but it has a rather a lot of fictional storylines just to make it that bit more interesting and fun to watch. I absolutley loved this film and it will remain one of my favourites forever.

It is incredibly patriotic even though the main character is not indeed played by a Scotsman but Mel Gibson pulled it off very well. Nailing the accent.

The best part about this film is the battle scenes, such as The Battle Of Stirling, it is very realistic, very gory and it feels as though you are amongst the battle.
And you can't forget the freedom speech. It is one of the best and most famous in movie history.

"Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow it."

The ending is so sad. A man who dies for his country. It's inspirational and it shows just how much freedom means.

AMAZING! ALBA GU BRA!

"Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse. "

I never get tired of this film

The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight 5.0 Stars

-MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS-

In all honesty. I don't even know where to begin with this film.
It has to be the best of all of the Batman films. Nolan made this a masterpiece.
It's so much more than just a superhero movie. It's dark with a twisted sense of humour.

Christian Bale added more depth to Batman and Bruce Wayne in this edition.
Much more than in Batman Begins.
His acting in this was suberb.
Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel was a smart move in my opinion. She added more to this character.
Heath Ledger playing my favourite character in this.. The Joker.
Just wow. Not only giving him praise because he's now dead, I've always been a fan of Ledger and he truly showed what he was capable of in this. He was amazing. And that laugh will haunt me forever.

My other favourite character was Gary Oldmans character Lt. Gordon, turning Commisioner. Absolutley amazing acting and I just love his character. He played such a bigger part of the movie.

I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do if I caught one. I just *do* things. I'm a wrench in the gears.

Favourite scene is close to the beginning. The magic pencil trick. Absolutley classic.

A great movie with so many scenes that stick out and can be remembered.
Amazing scenes. Plenty of action and big bangs. Car chases, It's just all so good.

Fight Club (1999,  R)
Fight Club 5.0 Stars

When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep... and you're never really awake

First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club

A movie that has earned a place in my top favourite movies. It is sheer brilliance.

Edward Norton is an insomniac who tries to find cures for this problem he has, his problems reoccur when he meets Marla.
Then he meets Tyler Durden, a soap salesman who together form Fight Club only to find out Tyler is a figment of his imagination.

The best twist I have seen in a film.

I had seen Helena Boham Carter in films before but this is the earliest film I have seen of hers so far, and I have to say as Marla she was brilliant.

Brad Pitt as Tyler, I had never been a great fan of Pitt but he has to be praised for this role. He was outstanding.

Just such an unique film with a lot of violence but with depth. Fantastic film.

Pearl Harbor (2001,  PG-13)
Pearl Harbor 5.0 Stars

There's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.

Childhood friends Rafe and Danny join the Army Air Corps as flying had always been a dream to them. Rafe is given the chance to go to England to go to war, World War 2.
He takes his chance leaving his best friend and new love Evelyn a navy nurse behind and they are both transferred to Hawai.
Rafe is reported to be dead which brings Danny and Evelyn closer together when Rafe ends up coming back as to their surprise.
During this love triangle another horror is to come upon them. Pearl Harbor is attacked by the Japanese.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant.

I absolutley love this movie, It is so long and jam packed. The love triangle is just amazing. The film shows us what it possibly would have been like on that day of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, such devastation.

There's amazing scenes, the special effects are incredible.
And there's romantic scenes put in there too.
I love the soundtrack to the film. Such as Tenessee by Hans Zimmer. It just fits the movie perfectly.
I love the scene when Danny is taking Evelyn up in the plane it's so beautiful.

This movie is certainly one to remember.

Not anxious to die sir, just anxious to matter.

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?

One of the best films ever seen. The first time I saw it I was amazed.
Well done to Danny Boyle for creating such a masterpeice, and to Irvine Welsh who wrote the book. and to McGregor for pulling his role off. Was definetley his best performance.
There's just so much to say about this film.
The soundtrack is brilliant aswell.
Favourite scene is where Begbie throws the glass and starts a fight it's class. Gotta love Robert Carlyle.

One of my favourite quotes:
I hate being Scottish. We're the lowest of the fucking low, the scum of the earth, the most wretched, servile, miserable, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some people hate the English, but I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. We can't even pick a decent culture to be colonized by. We are ruled by effete arseholes. It's a shite state of affairs and all the fresh air in the world will not make any fucking difference

Jarhead (2005,  R)
Jarhead 4.5 Stars

Jarhead follows 'Swoff' from a sobering stint in boot camp to active duty, sporting a snipers rifle through the Middle East deserts with no cover from intolerable heat or from Iraqi soldiers. Swoff and his fellow Marines, who have been trained to kill, find themselves in a brutal situation, fighting a war they don't understand for a cause they don't fully grasp.

This movie had me hooked from the very first scenes. Especially when he's at boot camp and just as his head gets slammed against a board the song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" plays. It seemed rather funny.
It's a brilliant film, not like any other war film, there wasn't so much action but it showed what life was like in a warzone.
Jake Gyllenhaal brought this movie together.
Jamie Foxx. One word - Wow! He played this role perfectly. I loved watching him in this movie
I loved it when Swoff is in his Santa's hat. And at the end when he's looking out the window, first it looks normal and then it dissolves into the desert, and he says "we are still in the desert" it was brilliant.

This story is fantastically written, and filmed. Scenes were amazing and there was some humour in it aswell.
The story reflects to the war right now that is going on.

Candy is about a poet played by Heath Ledger, who falls in love with an art student named Candy played by Abbie Cornish. Both living the bohemian lifestyle and both share an addiction to heroin. Hooked on each other as much as they are on the drugs, their relationship alternates between states of oblivion, self-destruction and despair.

This is one very powerful and emotional movie. This movie had me hooked straight away. The story is so simple and fantastic. It's a beautiful movie.
The acting was superb. Has to be one of Heath Ledger's best performances. He was so captivating and real.
Abbie Cornish fantastic aswell. The two of them just had such a chemistry between them it was amazing and believable.
The soundtrack plays a big part for me in the movie aswell. Every song, every score fitted their scenes perfectly.

"We had a lot going for us. We'd found the secret glue that held all things together. In a perfect place, where the noise did not intrude, our world was so very complete"

This movie has everything I want in a film. It engrossed me from the beginning till the end.. even once it had finished I was still wondering. A brilliant movie that every Heath Ledger fan should see. It's worth a watch for sure.

P.S. I Love You (2007,  PG-13)
P.S. I Love You 4.0 Stars

Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life.

This film was described as a romance comedy that would leave you warm... to be honest it had me in tears every 10 minutes. It's such a touching film and I loved it. If a film can make me cry that much then it must mean something.

Gerard Butler plays funny Irishman Gerry. Maybe his accent isn't exactly the most convincing but he is hilarious in this and he's so loveable. He seems like the perfect man. He's an amazing actor.

Hilary Swank wasn't what I expected in this. She was completley different to her usual roles and it was nice to see her in a film like this. She really made this movie magic.

movie Pictures, Images and Photos

I think this was just a good romantic but sad film with a good bunch of cast.

Worth a watch.

"Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you "
