A great old classic from 1950 which co-stars a 12 yr old Natalie Wood as the youngest of 3 sisters. The eldest played by Ann Blythe finds out she has been adopted on her 18th birthday and goes to meet her "real mother" who lives below the tracks...a little schmaltzy but it's indicative of family films of it's time and has a great message for all times that we sometimes take for advantage those things and people in our lifes that others may not be so fortunate as to have. Sweet old film.
I loved this "bromance". It was cleverly and smartly written and I totally enjoyed all of the characters and performances. I'm already a fan of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel was a hands down natural in his role here. Totally enjoyable film with not only a lot of laughs but insightful moments to be had. Paul Rudd is such a good actor he makes his comedic roles seem so easy but he always brings a higher element to them as he did here. Bravo Boyz.
It's a chick flick and not much more but it was an enjoyable one. I had a few laughs despite the predictable ending. Two best friends end up with the same wedding date (by mistake of the wedding planner) and both at the Plaza in NY where they've always dreamed of having it....and they spend the weeks proceeding their wedding trying to upset each other's wedding plans. Silly fun.
I loved this movie. Very multi-faceted in what it brings to the table emotionally. I laughed and cried and found this a refreshing and entertaining story. Two sisters down on their luck (Adams and Blunt) start their own cleaning company where they are actually cleaning up after homicide and suicide scenes...sounds like a downer but it's actually not. I enjoyed the performances here and nice to see Alan Arkin as well as their father.
In this second edition of those traveling pantz and the girls we find out a little more about each of these young women, but over-all the story is lackluster compared to the first. Though still enjoyable like most part twos it doesn't quite hold up to the first.
This was pretty bad. The script is full of holes. It's really laughable and a very non-thrilling "thriller". I watched because I have always liked Carol Lynley and had not seen this previously, and it was supposed to be the classic movie that Jody Foster's "Flight Plan" was based loosely upon...very loosely - and Flight Plan was better. A mom's child goes missing, but she has trouble proving her daughter even exists...yadda yadda.
Anne Hathaway plays a grief counselor called upon to counsel 6 survivors of a plane crash. Along the way she not only ends up in a love affair with one (Patrick Wilson) but deeply involved in a mystery revolving the accident and the mysterious man who's been following her and those that had survived (David Morse) This had every potential to be great but it's many bits and pieces do not fit the way the story wants you to believe they do - but overall it's entertaining.
An interesting role for Tracey as a doctor who marries a woman (beautiful Hedy Lamar) who still has feelings for another man. A wonderful old film of love and sacrifice for it.
Wonderful old classic offering Joan Bondell's shining moment singing "Remember My Forgotton Man" which still holds up today. A great old film with a stellar cast and highly recommended to any interested in old classic films...this one is a must see.
I am a James Mason fan, and view him as highly under-rated for his career works, but until today had not seen this earlier film of his made in England before he moved to Hollywood and began making films in the U.S. This story of a very "wicked lady" (Margaret Lockwood) who gets all the men, the jewels and also steals the heart of the outlaw and scallywag the "highwayman" who robs people by gunpoint under the moon and the stars, is filled with intrigue and was over-all just great fun.
Very enjoyable and suspenseful film that is well written, well directed and also carries a very emotional thread with it. Good performances, especially by the children in this Italian made film.
Slow moving yet charming story of a young book editor (dreamy Joshua Jackson who gives a very good and believable performance) who travels to Italy to sign a popular writer of 20 yrs prior (Harvey Keitel - who is nothing short of marvelous) with hopes that he will write again and along the way falls in love with his daughter and examines his own life and dreams. Nothing very new but never-the-less this was still an enjoyable film with likable characters.
Very good story and well written screen adaption from 1942 starring Ronald Reagan & Robert Cummings in the male leads and Betty Field and Ann Sheridan in the female leads. The story of friends who all grow up together in the small town of King's Row and what becomes of their lifes and dreams as adults. Ronald Reagan gives the performance of his life here I believe and so do many others. Where Robert Cummings is charming he does seem to over-act the part at times and Betty Field certainly does as his mentally disturbed love interest. But Ronald Reagan and Ann Sheridan are wonderful together and for me their paring in this film is what was most enjoyable to me as well as the most interesting story.
Enjoyable old film with nice performances by both Johnson and Taylor and an adorable performance by the actress who plays their daughter in the film, as well as by Donna Reed. A classic tear-jerker from the 1950s.
A coming of age story about a young man in Pittsburgh, PA (Jesse Eisenberg) the summer between high school and college during the 1980s. His family's financial situation takes a turn downward and he must take a job at a local amusement park Adventureland (actually Pittsburgh's Kennywood Park) to make some money before he leaves for college in NY.
Fun Vampire flick very indicative of the 1980s films. It plays out as though you were reading it in a comic book and it's very effective. I enjoyed this old kitchy movie.
The story of the underground Kindertransport that moved Jewish and other children from their parents to safe housing with famlies in England during WWII. Interviews with those who were the children then, as well as well restored old footage from that time and place. Very moving documentary.
Wonderful production of the classic story; wiht intriging performances and a great screenplay. I enjoyed this old film from 1941 very much. Walter Huston as "Scratch" was excellant.
All the same characters are back - with some added fun. I have to say I think we enjoyed the first maybe a little better; but over-all still a great follow-up to the original.
