Another superior movie that has eluded me for far too long.I have always loved Kathy Bates,In this movie you cannot help fall in love with her character. She is the greatest person, would do anything for anyone, except herself really. Her underdog tone in this movie is very believable,so does get a backbone down the line but the journey is sad and funny at the same time.I also have loved Mary Stuart Masterson forever, this was a stellar cast of women, although this is not just a movie for women or your typical chick flick at all.I will also add this every once in a while to break away from the glitz and digitally explosive hollywood is a great thing. You take a story that is very special and combine it with such a well rounded cast you create magic. The amazing thing is,For any woman if you are 17-75 you WILL find some part of this movie or one of the characters that you can relate to,or are maybe in the same sort of situation, there really is something here for everyone,I am truly ashamed with myself that I let this one go as long as I have.See it!!!

This is a taut, action packed, cynical thriller. I can't say anything about the plot without giving it away and I'm not going to do that. What I will say is that this film is in the nature of Pale Rider. The system is corrupt and true evil is afoot. The situation can't be resolved withing the system so the lone gunman has to set things right. If you like action, drama, and a lot of stuff getting blown up and a lot of people getting killed then you'll like this one.

I think that this is a remarkable film. It deserves a much higher rating than are posted so far. Did any of you ever see a movie called "The Wild Child?" It was a French film from the '50's. This is similar. It tells the story of a gorilla expert who dissapered for two years. Everyone thought he was dead until he was arrested, naked, for murdering a park warden in Rwanda. Cuba Gooding Jr. plays the psychiatrist. I'm giving this four stars and I believe that anyone who likes serious drama will love it.

Obviously most of the good chuckles are in the first stoner flick and its hard to say but this is a bit lame even though i like the main dudes!!!!. Highlight for me was his response to the terrorist about donuts!!! But hey thats my bizzare sense of humour. Watch if your a fan of the first film, otherwise give this a big flick.

Definitely for fans of Adam Carolla "The Man Show". Very Light hearted entertainment and if you enjoy Carollas dry sense of humour than this is worth a watch. He was actually quit convincing in his role ( as himself really!!!) and enjoyed the cast around him. Just a fun, light film and not sure why its R rated! I had good little chuckle throughout this film.
Hey, you should really see this! If you like Carolla then you will enjoy this. He definitely got a good sense of humour and I liked that about this film.

This is a wondfull, bizare, mad creation. Like Hamlet this is the play within the play theme and you can't tell which story is more important but try it, you'll like it. The acting is top notch from all and all play it to the hilt.

If you haven't seen this you don't know what you've been missing. Hogan's performance rivals that of Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood" or "Gangs Of New York". This movie brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it. How Hogan wasn't nominated is beyond me.

Rent it, buy it.....do whatever it is you need to do in order to watch this piece of cinematic history.

A documentary with an eye opening look of the cash crop that should have NEVER been. This film shows that although we have moved leaps and bounds from the unreal barbaric Labor and delivery rooms of the 20's and 30's advancing but maybe in the wrong direction. In the U.S. it is no longer about what is safe and best for Mom and baby, its about get em' in and get em' out.Like a factory, and how much drugs are pushed on laboring women (whether they want it or not) to help speed that process along.I was really shocked by alot that I saw. Also this movie shows that C-section births are now more than 1-3 births,If that is not a jaw dropper alone. It's now become the norm to completely remove the womanhood and natural process completely from the mother of the birth experience.Anyway its been 15 years since I have been in a delivery room, and lucky enough with both boys to never need a C-section.Ladies,If you are pregnant or already a mom you will appreciate this film that none other than Ricki Lake has put together, very well done. You might even need a few tissues,I guarantee, seeing all those sweet little newborns will take each and every one of you right back to the moment you first looked into the eyes of your little one.=)

A film that definitely flew under my radar and very glad that I found this film. One of the best 'prison films' since Shawshank Redemption or Green Mile and would say top 3 or 4 films I have seen this year. Incredible performances by all the cast esp Dorf & Kilmer. Once Kilmer sinks his teeth into a part that he believes in, is truly amazing ( long way from Top Guns Iceman!!! ) and this for me is Dorfs best role thus far. The chilling aspect to this film is how something like this could happen to you in a blink of an eye, choices are made. I highly recommend this film, it had me captivated from start to finish. I love a film that has you invested in the characters futures and how real these characters are from prisoners to wardens to family members. I only recommend 3-4 films a year and this is one of them.

(The other scarey fact alone is that 23 million americans are incarcerated in prison currently. More than my countries population)
Hey, you should really see this!WOW top 5 films for 2008 for me. Let me know what you think if you get the chance to see this.

    Paranoid Park Paranoid Park

Has there ever been a better film about teen adolescence? I'm hardly a fan of Gus Van Sant flicks, especially after the overtly pretentiousness of his "Death Trilogy" (with the minor exception of Elephant). But all three films certainly led up to perhaps the best of the bunch. Though a tad hindered by a rather abrupt ending, the themes present in Paranoid Park gripped me from start to finish and took me back to a time when I was coming to grips with reality. Filmed in a similar style like his previous "Boring Trilogy," this film is anything but boring. Lemme stress: Paranoid Park is more accessible and well-balanced than those films. The film centers on youth culture, and the topic itself seems a tad dated, and I felt it to be, kinda like thinking, "C'mon Gus, get with the times." But hey, Dazed and Confused along with Almost Famous were allegedly the best films about the '70s, yet they arrived two decades later. Like "they" say, better late than never.

Paranoia and apathy are few themes that drive the film, and more are revealed as our youngster skater boy Alex (Gabe Nevins) meticulously pens a story that reveals a rather gruesome event. Basically, this 'accident' is a MacGuffin that exposes the seemy underbelly of contemporary youth. Alex is our poster boy for the current generation. I should mention, the deadly accident doesn't set him off. The kid was woeful from the get-go, showing very little interest in anything including his girlfriend. He does try, like reading the newspaper to show he does show some interest, or reluctantly agrees to "do it" with his gal, but as the film moves on, he reveals that he doesn't care anymore. The kid bottles up everything inside, but as he pens in a diary of some sort, he exposes his true self; a struggling young lad. A kid having trouble coping with life's shitty events.

The actors are a bunch of unknowns, therefore untrained, yet their inexperience never hinders that contemporary youth look; insecure, uncomfortable, fractured, uncertain. This results in many scenes that display awkward moments, such as finding the right words to say, and really hitting home as it shows Alex's inability to communicate. It all adds to a natural feel. His only escapism is heading over to the skate park known as "paranoid park," watching everyone skate and even skating himself (he's no pro, by the by). These scenes are filmed very dream-like. Pretentious much? Maybe, but I didn't mind 'em. It offered Alex a brief moment to just forget about shit, as for the audience.

Again, the ending is rather abrupt... the kind of abruptness that ruined Broken Flowers (or No Country for Old Men for some folk). Yet, it doesn't ruin Paranoid Park as much. Then again, what else is there once Alex finishes writing his story? Speculation... although it left me with a cold feeling. 'Tis a rather bleak film, but one that captured a culture perfectly. Paranoid Park is this generation's Rebel Without a Cause... oh, and it's one of the year's best films.
Yep, check it out. Watch it again. :p
