Disappointed! I finally saw this cult movie (a few weeks ago on DVD), after having heard (more read) so many things about it, since years; even decades. Another classic disappointing me... :( I can't understand it's so often quoted as a reference. I can't understand it's so often named for its violence, when it's in fact 1% of a Saw or Hostel. Sure, different times, but: 1st, we still hear about it as a violence's reference, and 2d, at this time, there were already films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or a few years later Alien, Friday the 13th, Halloween... who all are so much more violent, physically AND psychologically. And there were movies worst (in that sense) also before, way before. Yeah, I definitely most admitt I waited more violence from it. But I of course can rate 5/5 a romantic comedy, without anything violent or even negative, dark, so, it's not only cause of missing blood that I rate it like this. It's not at all a bad movie (otherwise, why would I rate it 2,5/5? After all, it's the average, so, a pretty good rating already)! So, the good points are: 1) The atmosphere, mostly in the beginning, in the arrival to the village, who made me think to The Hills Have Eyes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Rob Zombie's movies; and so, made me believe I'll simply love the film. 2) The beautiful, wonderful landscapes, making me pray to be in 1 day, and making me miss rafting a lot. 3) The raft scenes, making think to the better film The River Wild is. 4) Seeing Jon Voight so young (even if he isn't 1 of my favs at all). I think I otherwise saw him only in a few great recent movies like Anaconda or Tomb Raider. 5) The excellent music they play. 1 of our 4 adventurers with the retarded child. A great moment of the film. Maybe the best! Recommanded to the lovers of nature, fans of Voight and/or Reynolds, but not specially to the horror or thrillers lovers. |

Very cool! I thought to see it in 3D, but finally went to another theatre, where it passed in 2D. When I 1st heard about this film, I thought to Alvin and the Chipmunks, that I loved. This movie is really different, but it has some common points. Apart the fact that there are talking animals, they are rodents, like the chipmunks; and 3, like them. The effects are very well done, as we never doubt that we are following guinea pigs (and mice, and a mole) who are talking and doing some secret agents stuff. It's totally credible, although it's in fact totally UNcredible, senseless. |

| American Pie Presents: Beta House - R |
Average! I think they should stop this series; maybe they even should've stopped it after the great American Wedding. But it seems they have, finally. I didn't see the 4th and 5th anyways. The spirit, the interest of the 1st trilogy is totally absent, gone, and so, this movie title shouldn't contain American Pie. It's stricly for business, and this can't make a good movie. |

Yippie-kay-yay black and whiter! lol A really good movie of those amazing crazy dudes, I named Laurel and Hardy. Didn't see it (and any of theirs) since ages. That's why I bought this 1 and A Chump at Oxford on DVD some weeks ago. I still need to watch the other, that maybe I already saw, like this one. Soon! But I still have around 40 DVDs I didn't watch since I bought them; even if a lot are movies I saw 1 or several times already. On the DVD, there are the original and a colorised version. But no way for me for the color on L&H or Chaplin's movie. Pity! It makes me mad they did this horror; but in fact, if it makes some people who had never watched a film in black and white, watch it, then, it's a victory I guess. Anyways, I didn't hesitate a semi second before to choose. And the next time I'll watch it, it'll always be in B&W. Just by curiosity, I checked the color version. It clearly confirmed my fears and my wishes to never watch more than 10 seconds like this. Some unforgetable gags all along the movie, who had of course been so imitated, copied, used since. So, someone stupid would say it's all but original, seeing it. Only being senseless we could say it, as it was contrary totally original at the times. I'd like to see soe of their shorts again too, as I think they are even better; that's also the opinion of a good friend. I didn't see them since so many years that I can't really say. I anyways saw a DVD with 6 shorts for a very low price, so, I'll clearly buy it soon. I didn't remember at all that Laurel was the scapegoat of Hardy. He always hit him with his fists; on the shoulder most of the time. So, that make us laugh more when Laurel takes his revenge, making Hardy fall for example, cause we think he deserves it. So, to resume, run for it! ;) |

| The Devil's Rejects - R |
Ouch! Gory f***ing great! Finally seen! 10 times better than House of 1000 Corpses and more or less as well as Zombie's Halloween. Rob use amazing actors who all are so freaking, even in tuxedo and without any horrible make-up. All have "faces" as we say. Meaning faces who hypnotise you, that you can't forget, faces of people with experience, talent, and looks. I for example really like Ken Foree (since Dawn of the Dead, Romero's version, so, in 1978) and Danny Trejo. Sheri Moon is sexy, the kind of girl you give god without confession (like the expression says, even if I'm not a believer). So, that makes her be kinda more scary than Bill Moseley, Danny, Ken or Sid Haig and William Forsythe. This movie is some kind of mix between: The Hitcher, Joy Ride, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, Gacy, Jeepers Creepers and some others. Its more or less as good as Texas and Hills, and better than all the others. So, a damned good mix it is! I must admitt that I love the ending, between else. I couldn't support that they all survive, even if that would mean a sequel with them, and that'd be excellent of course. But when the sherif is killed and they are all saved, I was disgusted. Maybe he deserved to die too, as he becomes almost as crazy dangerous as them. But it was a cold blood revenge for him, so, it's far away to be as monstruous as all this monsters' family did. Very classical to make us almost have pity for those barbarian rapers and murderers and to give the cop the bad role. But I have to confess that I was laughing in some moments when he tortures them; which I never did when they did it to their poor victims. This movie make think that the cop is right. The only way to stop these people is to become like them, to hunt them and not just chase, and it's almost impossible to imagine to quietly arrest them and let them live in jail till they escape and start again. When you act without any humanity, like they do, you know what's waiting you, what you'll get, and you must assume to be shot like a deer by hunters. In life, you get what you give. Or at least, it should be more often the case. But badness is so more powerful that it wins, most of the time. Anyways, near a masterpiece is this film. |

| Michael Jackson's This Is It - PG |
A great object! Something you can only like if you are a fan, and dislike if you aren't. If it was a fiction, even not liking the king of pop's work, you could like the movie, but as it's all but a fiction, as it's a making-off of the rehearsals... I must say I'm not the biggest fan, far away. I even normally didn't name him when I anmed my favotite singers in the past. And I had only 2 albums: Unbreakable (or is it Invicible? I suddenly doubt...), and the album for the 25 years of Thriller, the most sold album of all the times, with more than 100 millions pieces, and all the 9 songs went ourt as single, when usually, from 1 to 3-4 songs do this on a album. But now, I own also a box with those 2, + Bad, Dangerous and Off the wall. So, I always liked him, but am not the biggest fan, but I anyways cried a few times for him. So, I can't imagine how it is when you are more fan; not talking about the family, and specially his 3 kids. So, I thought I'd cry, but in fact no. Not at all! I just was near in 1 moment. I think it was cause of his death but also the 1 of the planet, so, when we were seeing the destruction of the Amazonian forest, and he was making a speech about the protection of the nature. With, of course, Heal the world. It's great to see him like we never did, like he his deeply. As I read somewhere, really modest, nice, patient, always saying with all the love when he has some reproach to do. So kind, touching by moments, and 1 more time modest. Amazing when you know who he is, which dancer, singer, writer, director, creator, so talentful (which people must admitt even disliking his work), all this with a 45 years carreer being 50. Amazing when he knew he was since 25 years still the recordman for an unique album to stay really feet on the ground, modest, when some assholes who did 1 billion time less than him, and with 1 billion less talent are so impossible to support, so proud, bad, speaking to people like to dogs, shits, like this star was the god of the gods. Anyways, each 1 his personality, character, specificities... A must-see of 2009! I hope they'll do (and it's sure in fact, but we just dunno when) some biopic; even if, in the same time: 1st I don't really like this genre And 2d, more important, really more, I'm afraid of who'll take the role, who'll direct, and what they'll do of his life. |

| Diary of the Dead - R |
Ouch! Really under Land and Dawn (both versions) of the Dead, for me. But anyways a bit better than Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead. A good thing is that I like movies made with a FPS mode of shooting, and that's cool that they start to be common. Cloverfield, Doom (for the long amazing sequence shot like the games of the series), The Blair Witch Project, who's often named as a pioneer, a precursor of this style. But there have been some others before; I thought to 1-2 another day, but I forgot them now. Too bad...! Contrary to Land of the Dead, - but as for the previous ones -, a entire cast of unknown actors and actresses. Anyways, that doesn't impede some movies to be great, as all stars were totally unknown people when they began, logically. Almost all in fact, cause not all the childs of stars. But in this case, if they aren't bad actors, they aren't excellent neither I think. There are anyways some stars, as I discovered watching the bonuses. Wes Craven, Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo Del Toro and Simon Pegg, who all voiced newsreaders. A nice idea! Otherways, the script isn't bad at all, just not as well as the ones I said above. But there are anyways some very good scenes. Interesting also to see some events on the security cams. To conclude, I'm anyways, as usula with Romero, very excited, impatient to see Survival of the Dead, his 6th zombies' film in the series. |

| Le petit Nicolas - Unrated |
Very funny and cute! I loved to read the books of Le petit Nicolas as a child (and also the unedited stories that I read recently), so, I was pretty excited learning they were doing a movie. And a bit afraid in the same time to be disappointed of course. Seeing the trailer some times ago, I thought it would be good, but I didn't think to laugh that much; mainly during 2 scenes, where a lot of people in the theatre laughed their ass off too. The cast is pretty good (all those children we never saw before played well their roles). The original story they wrote for the film is interesting, moving and fun. The good point is that they didn't at all betray the spirit of the books. They even used a lot of supporting characters, some elements of the novels, some situations of those, and some dialogues, quotes. So, in 1 word like in 100, I clearly recommand to watch this, if you like to laugh. Otherways, too bad for you! |

| Deep Rising - R |
A good horror thriller! Some kind of mix between Titanic, Poseidon, Alien, Virus (1999) and Abyss. Definitely a good mix! A not bad cast (mostly thanks to the nice and talented Famke Janssen) doesn't waste anything; it's the opposite of course. The creature, the monster is gorgeous, splendid! |
