| 300 - R |
Okay I seriously don't understand why everyone loves this movie. Yes, it is mildly entertaining for a while, but the plot is pretty non-existent and the dialogue is horrifically bad. Even the CG, which was supposed to be some kind of miraculous creation of modern technology wasn't all it was made out to be. I did enjoy the fight sequences, don't get me wrong - they were very well choreographed, but I did expect more. For all of the story in it they should have just turned the entire movie into a battle, but instead we get stuck with the horribly written political scenes stuffed in between. Not to mention the incredibly awkward sex scenes I could have gone a lifetime without. Nobody needs to see that... unless you liked it. in which case you have some seriously twisted fetishes. Overall this movie was slightly less than mediocre. It did keep me entertained for a while, but I wouldn't watch it again and it will quickly be forgotten... except those disturbing sex scenes which will forever be burned into my memory. |

| TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - PG |
Wow... truly awful... and yet at the same time so good. A mix of emotions. Well not really, as a movie it really sucked - but the nostalgia factor was great! I grew up watching the cartoon TV show of these guys, and watching this movie brought back some old memories. Anyways, this movie is essentially a cheese-fest. But what else would you expect from the TMNT? Thats what makes them unique. The CGI in this movie was actually mostly pretty decent. The CGI is such that its still a very 'cartoon' style which I thought was cool because of the similarities to the old tv show. The plot of course, was dismal. I don't know where they came up with this stuff, but it was pretty out-there. And since when did April learn martial arts and stop being a TV reporter? Maybe I'm just missing something... Anyways, if you're not a fan of the Turtles I don't recommend this at all. If you are, then prepare for some good memories to come flooding back. |

| Eragon - PG |
Why do people pay good money to see all these books-turned-movies which always end up like crap? Why did I pay good money to see this stupid book-turned-movie which turned out like crap? Quite frankly, this movie sucked. It isn't original (just like every other fantasy... think LOTR, but worse) and it doesn't have any big moments. Overall I was bored and fidgety throughout this whole movie. What a horrible attempt to amuse me for a couple of hours. Why do they subject us to this torture and call it entertainment? And why do I keep being lulled in by those false hopes that "this one might actually be good"?! Anyways, basically don't see it unless you happen to be a die-hard fan or something... I never read the book and the movie didn't impress me at all, so I guess I wouldn't recommend it to anyone over the age of 16. |

| Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny - R |
Quote frankly I found this movie hilarious. Yes, I know it 'sucks' but who went to see this expecting amazing acting and revolutionary film techniques? As just a stupid, funny and weird movie it definitely earns 5 stars. The music is well composed, the lyrics to the songs are funny, the movie doesn't have much flow, but the randomness is really what keeps it entertaining. One plus point about the movie though is that since they both actually do play their own instruments, all of the fingerings with the music overdubbings are spot on, which irritates me about most music movies. Overall I enjoyed this movie, but it isn't one of those great movies that really make you think about things in a new way - its just stupid humor. And a heck of a lot better than those horrible "date movie" and "epic movie" things that have been plaguing us lately. |

| Ghost Rider - PG-13 |
I reeeaaallly enjoyed this movie. Yes, its a pretty biased rating, but I've always been a huge fan of the character. Sure the dialogue was pretty corny in quite a few places, and it had some of the worst casting ever (don't get me wrong, Nic Cage is one of my favorite actors, but he just doesn't fit the role and Eva Mendes? Act? HA!) Plus the character development was CRAP but I already know the character from the comics so I didn't really need that anyway... On the plus side, the CG was absolutely awesome. Johnny Blaze as the Ghost Rider looked frickin' amazing and his bike looked great as well. The action sequences were pretty good, although they seemed to be a little anticlimactic in terms of length. A few personal gripes - I would have rather seen Blackheart and Mephisto look a lot more like their comic book counterparts as opposed to just normal guys with the occasional CG effect over top. If you aren't familiar with the Ghost Rider story, definitely stay away from this one as it does a horrible job of attempting to explain it. However, if you're familiar with the story its great to see the Spirit of Vengeance leap around a screen with motion that the comics just can't convey. |

| The Illusionist - PG-13 |
FINALLY a movie worthy of a perfect score. Anyone who reads my reviews knows how ridiculously difficult it is to get one of these from me. Anyways, this movie was spectacular. Edward Norton was spectacular as usual. the cinematography was amazing, the music by Glass was really well done, and although the story is a basic love triangle it actually had some interesting twists and developments I didn't expect. One of the best movies of '06 without a doubt. I really enjoyed this movie. It might seem a little slow to some, but it kind of adds to the more 'mature' feel that way as opposed to movies like Snakes on a Plane. (Okay, that example might not be the best as that was one of the most over-the-top movies ever done, but you get the point.) Overall I was entertained throughout the whole movie even though some parts were fairly predictable. |

| The Guardian - PG-13 |
Well, I watched this on the airplane on my way home from being on vacation. Its... basically what it says it is. Nothing surprising here. All around a decent movie I guess, but it just doesn't have anything outstanding or new. If you're just looking for a way to kill time its okay I suppose. Just don't expect to be majorly 'wowed'. Not really too much to say about this one. Some of the acting is a little sketch ar parts. Of course if you're a 14 year old girl Ahstun Kutcher is in it so you could care less. But I'm not 14. Or a girl. (Not sure where I was going with that...) |

| Children of Men - R |
Well the beginning made it seem a little boring so I thought it would be a let down, but that didn't happen at all. From a filmmakers standpoint, its absolutely beautiful. The film has a consistent flow, great editing, amazing visual effects, an intriguing conept and plot, as well as solid acting performances. Besides all that, this is one of the most realistic portraits of the future I've seen of any movie to date. This actually looks like what could very well take place in 30 years. Well if this movie is apparently so great, why only 3.5/5 stars? To be honest, as great as this movie was I felt it was a little slow and predictable throughout most of it. Of course, the whole thing wouldn't have worked any other way, but I still feel that although the movie is always moving at a steady pace that you already knew what was going to happen. That brought the movie down alot in my perspective. If you are looking for a dark, gritty and realistic movie and are into science fiction I would definately recommend this movie though. |

| An Inconvenient Truth - PG |
Actually a fairly good movie, as long as you remember to take it with a grain of salt. It definately puts out the message of global warming to the massive, but it has a large political under-current which it really could have been done without. Of course, 90% of documentaries have some kind of political slant or bias to them, so its really to be expected (unless you happen to be incredibly naive and believe everything you hear.) Overall a good movie that ends on a positive note however. |

| Kill Bill, Volume 2 - R |
Continuation of the first one and even more cheezy if possible. Most of the acting in here just makes you go, "WTF?". Actually,t he whole movie made me do that. It really didn't seem to accomplish anything other than end the first one. For the amount of things that happened in these movies, they should have just been one movie, but instead it seems like Tarantino decided to put ALL the action and cheezy gore in the first one and ALL the storyline and go-nowhere scenes in the second. If you are going to watch them, I recommend you watch them together... but overall, I wasn't impressed in the slightest. Well... that is one mans opinion anyways. |

| Kill Bill: Volume 1 - R |
Rented this with part II a while ago, and all I thought while iw as watching it was "wow... thats alot of limbs". This movie is ALL cheesy, super fake, over-the-top gore combined with non-stop overly coreographed action scenes - I didn't even realize there was a story. Seriously, this move has absolutely nothing to do with anything. This movie would make an excellent drinking game: Anytime anyone loses a limb - 1 shot Every fountain of blood - 2 shots every time a 'major' character dies - 3 shots Everytime someone says "Bill" - 4 shots There is no possible way you could walk out of that movie sober... Anyways, bad movie unless you happen to be in the mood for a gore-fest for no apparent reason. |

| Crank - R |
Not quite sure what was going on with this movie. It seemed like the writers came up with 20 different screenplays, loaded them into a shotgun and then whatever came out... that was the script. And then halfway through filming, they lost that script sot he director just made it up every day as they went along. Poorly written and cheesy over the top gore and action. If all you're looking for is a crazy action flick with no substance this fits the bill, but otherwise a poor movie. Some interesting ideas and concepts, but in the end it just didn't come together. |

| Gridiron Gang - PG-13 |
Overated, (I feel) but still a good movie. While this movie does touch on all the key points (the elements of brotherhood, betrayal, redemption and all that jazz) the story lacked anything groundbreaking. We've all seen the football film where a group of untrained nobodys come together and end up winning big-time despite their differences. Not to mention the acting is pretty hit-and-miss. The Rock actually does an okay job, but alot of the younger actors didn't really pull it off so well. Overall slightly above average - your standard 'feel good' movie. |

| Blood Diamond - R |
Well very rarely do I hand out 5 stars to a movie, and seeing as it isn't about Superman in any way shape or form, y'know its high praise coming from me :P. Anyways, what we've got is an attempt at playing off peoples emotions. However, unlike most dramatic type movies of the sort - this one actually pulls it off. Aside from the horrible accent on DiCaprio's part, the story is entirely believable and well put together. Not only does it reflect truly on the harsh reality of life in some parts of Africa, it also manages to stay intense and driven throughout the whole movie which is quite a feat at 2.5 hours running time. The best movie I've seen recently by far. |

| American Pie 5: The Naked Mile - R |
They really need to stop making these bloody movies! This movie was a total ripoff of other films. The only selling point of this movie was the nudity. This movie was complete garbage, easily the worst of the series. Unoriginal, and not funny at all. Recycling old jokes doesn't make them funnier. |

| Donnie Darko - R |
Well... its confusing as crap, but it really makes you think. And think. And think some more. But I like movies that make you think. They intrigue me. It confuses you in the beginning, and in the end you're still very confused. What I like about this movie is it is more like a book... you are free to interpret it in any way you like. There are many possible answers to the questions you have, and you can picture it in any way you like. Very, very interesting movie. I really like it. |

| Miami Vice - R |
Well, after attempting to watch this movie for the third time, I've come to the conclusion that this movie is rediculously boring. The first time I tried to watch this movie, I fell asleep after about 5 minutes. I thought, "no problem, I'll watch it tomorrow when I'm less tired". So the next day, I pop it in again... get bored and leave after 15 minutes. So now I've just watched the first hour of it and realized it is what it is - a movie where almost nothing intriguing happens. We all know the plot, people try to take down a drug operation - usually this would make a fast paced, action filled movie. Nope. No dice. All we get is tons of random sex scenes, which have very little to contribute to the movie, alot of dialogue which could have been left out, and tons of scenes in clubs where nothing really happens. This movie is DULL to the maximum! I tried very hard to find this movie interesting, but it just isn't. |

| Blade - Trinity - R |
This film was horridly abysmal. The series started so well but ended on such a horrible note. Formt he obvious blatant advertising for Ipods to the sheer CRAP that was most of the acting, the series clearly could have gone without this movie. In this movie, Blade clearly talks too much. They wrote far too much dialogue that could have been done without. Lets face it, Blade's character is the strong silent type. Ryan Reynolds did an absolutely hidious job in this movie as well at trying to be the comic relief. It just doesn't work. This movie is horrible, none of the characters work off each other well, and most of this movie really had no point to it. Such as the scene in the 'dracula' store. |

| Blade II (Blade 2) - R |
Clearly not as good as the first. It did have all the action and had great promise, but the story just wasn't there this time. No doubt that there were excellently coreographed scenes, but it doesn't make up for the lack of substance in the plot. Trying to revisit which has already been done (Blade's emotional side) obviously didn't work for this movie. It is quite possible that if they had tryed to focus on a different aspect of his character that the movie could have been as good as the first. |

| Blade - R |
Easily he best of the three, this movie was very, very well put together. Wesley Snipes is the perfect choice for the role of Blade. This movie is fast paced, action packed, and even has a story as an added bonus! (Which I don't really expect from most action flicks). This movie was amazingly put together, the action scenes were incredibly well played out and cohesive without the awkward moments that commonly plague many fight sequences in the editing. |

| Casino Royale - PG-13 |
Good movie... but its not... Bond. I mean, Craig is not a convincing Bond. He just isn't. Its not really a problem as the movie is still good in its own right, it just isn't a true 'Bond' flick. There were some great 'Bond' moments in the movie though, obviously closer to the end as Bond grows into the cold-hearted agent we know and love him as now. Interesting to see some of his backstory explained. Cons for this movie: Some of the dialogue was just incredibly bad. Cheesy beyond belief. |

I don't really know what to make of this film. It was... funny, but the humor was rediculously simplistic and cheap. I guess it did make me laugh though, so thats what counts. Lets just say if you're in the mood for something retarded and simple, this fits the bill to a T. |
