The Haunting in Connecticut - PG-13 A cold, lifeless ghost story with unappealing, one dimensional characters and too many cheap scares.
I'll stick to Poltergeist.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - PG Once again a good adaptation of an overlong book. The cast is fine, the FX are well done and the film has a nice balance of humor and action. July 19, 2009

The Unborn - PG-13 Not God-awful but not great either. Just a meh PG-13ish movie meant more for the never-seen-a-horror-movie crowd. July 8, 2009

Inkheart - PG Something got lost in translation from book to screen because it's clumsy and confusing at alot of times though it all seemed to come together decently enough by the end.
Overall its a family friendly fun fantasy.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - PG-13 Faster paced and louder than the first but it falls short from an underdeveloped script and filled with inappropriate and crude attempts at humor that had me cringing while watching it with my kids. July 4, 2009

Outlander - R What do you get when you cross sci-fi with Vikings with creatures? A kick-ass, rip roaring good time is what.
The story's familiar and there are some moments of pure cheese but it has so much going for it that its easy to forgive and forget.
The acting is solid, the set design and costumes are spectacular, there's a fair amount of blood and gore and while the creature is strictly CG it works more than not.
One of the most enjoyable films I've seen this year and recommended to anyone who enjoys sci-fi/adventure.

Fritt vilt (Cold Prey) - Unrated 40 minutes before the first kill, no gore, characters I could care less about and a killer with no presence at all.
Geez no one knows how to make a damn slasher anymore.

Terminator Salvation - PG-13 Eye-popping action sequences, great visuals and CG that mostly works plus with it being a "part 4" it was very refreshing to see a third sequel closely adhere to its predecessors.
Forget the nay-sayers and just enjoy it for the fun action/sci-fi/thriller its meant to be.

Eden Log - R With a bigger budget and a more coherent plot this could've been a five star film but as it stands its still a well done bleak sci-fi thriller from France. June 21, 2009

Plague Town - Unrated A few tense and/or creepy moments but otherwise a lackluster killer kids movie with a typical and unsatisfying ending. June 20, 2009

The Locals (Dead People) - Unrated Somewhat interesting story mucked up by piss poor writing, pacing and too many unanswered questions.
And it only took me two weeks to suffer through.
