I'm a bit of a film freak. I stand by my movie reviews because:
1) I rate a movie based on its success within its means, whether an indie film or a Hollywood blockbuster. 2) I try to remember the difference between a good movie and one that I liked. Or if you like, between a bad movie and one that I only hated. 3) I don't compare action movies to dramas, or teen comedies to horror. They have to be judged within their genre. |

The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear
PG-13
Not as genius as the first but just as hilarious and classic.
The Naked Gun 33 1/3: the Final Insult
PG-13
Maybe the last respectable comedy Leslie Nielsen was in. Some classic amazing comedy scenes but mostly it's a sequel to a ridiculous parody . . but this one doesn't parody much of anything, it's just there.
The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad!
PG-13
Parody of cop tv/movies. One of the funniest movies - possibly the greatest.
Gone in 60 Seconds (Gone in Sixty Seconds)
PG-13
Wasn't that good, and a movie glorifying car thievery is a disgrace.
PTU (PTU - Police Tactical Unit)
R
very good directing, sure, but they could have made it interesting. this is the anti-traditional HK film: boring. guess that's why it's so revolutionary to the Chinese.

Milk
by Vmedia Berkeley Ca. The Premiere went well .Sean busted the red carpet on Tuesday night to join the No on 8 protest outside the theater.
I have been stressing over this film for weeks - worried that it was released out the gate too soon to beat the other holiday A list films.
But my feelings were positive at the screening and I was really moved by this film - I know i worked closely on this project - fact is all my scenes were cut and are some where in LA in some editors render file, UMM
James Franco and Emile steal the this film along with Luna and Penn.
Danny Elfmans dark score really makes this gay bio pic raise the bar to the standard use of gay 70's music to make a statement of the times.
Golden Globe is all over this project and I am proud to have been part of it.

(sorry i have been away so long, I also did a stint with Spring Awakening national tour)The Premiere went well. Sean busted the red carpet on Tuesday night to join the No on 8 protest outside the theater. Its so close to the issues in the script. Yet it was fancy street theater for the national Media.

Dance of the Dead
by AZAn enjoyable, funny and good little zombie movie where the social hierarchy of high school is put to sleep in order to survive the already nerve-wrecking prom night. The abundance of gore is a quality that any living dead flick has but this movie, though gory at times, centralizes more around it's quirky characters and comical plot. Gorehounds may not flock to see this one due to the "heavy" on the story and "as needed" gore. Watch as geeks, bullies, popular kids and a shellshocked gym teacher kick some zombie ass!! A worthy watch!!!!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
by AZIndy's back! Everything that we love about the Indiana Jones series is there in this 4th installment of the series. Although it is somewhat of a rehash of RAIDER'S OF THE LOST ARK, it deliver's all the thrills and spills of the previous three. It's great to see a great series like this and splash it on to the big screen with today's special and visual effects. This movie is intended for the fans only and if your looking for something amazingly spectacular you might be disappointed. As a fan, I love the series and am happy to see the ol' hero in action! INDY fans, GO SEE IT!!

Rendition
by ~Lissa~This is a good movie in the sense that it shows you the other side of the story. I don't understand why they took Anwar in the first place. Was kinda interesting how it showed the policeman's daughter and how she was tied into the story.
Reese didn't have to act that hard. Jake did a good job showing his emotions.
Worth a look if you are into these type of movies."I haven't done a torture before"

The Incident
by AZAn outstanding and nostalgic film from 1967 that maintains a strong impact to this day. This forgotten gem is like watching a social experiment intensly unravel itself in front of our eyes as we see an exceptional cast react differently to a frantic and possibly dangerous situation in the NYC subway. A dramatic powerhouse that must be seen! EXCELLENT!!!

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
by AZA campy horror/action/comedy surrounding a hero with anger management issues! The film begins at a slow pace to introduce the origin of our hero but picks up when Jack begins to execute with extreme prjudice cheesy looking monsters using plumbing equipment! A truly silly concept that surprisingly has appeal and works for the movie since it really doesn't take itself seriously. Of course, the low budget hinders the film as the story and visuals of the film cannot be expanded to it's full potential although it is always exciting to see what the film crew and director have achieved with limited resources. This fun tribute to the 80's horror films is entertaining and oozing with cheese at every corner with the added plus of horror icon Robert Englund, but it's not for everybody. I say give it whirl and see what you think. It may surprise you.

The Rebel
by AZAn excellent and riveting martial-arts drama set in 1920's Vietnam during it's colonial French ruling. This movie is loaded with spectacular action and a moving story that must be seen by fans of the genre. It has the adrenaline pumping excitement that guys crave for and a tear jerking romance for the ladies. This being said, it is an excellent date movie! The vietnamese martial art Vovinam is acrobatic, exciting and prevalent in the film as our heroes literally kick the hell out of their enemies!! To be the first big budget film to come out of Vietnam, I'd say it was worth every penny and definitely worth your time!!

The Midnight Meat Train
by AZA hell of a ride!! This serial killer flick with a crazy twist is hypnotic and gory! If you adore Clive Barker you'll enjoy the twisted and bloody flavor we've come to love (may also be a flaw if you think about it 'cause we've come to expect it!) and if you're not familiar with his work, the movie will catch you off-guard. All this is complimented by japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura's razor sharp visuals and camerawork that gives the NYC subway an even colder and frightening ambience. Nail-biting suspense coupled with volatile bloody gore in one of the most stereotyped, misunderstood and even feared public transportation services in the world! Definitely recommended!!!

Dororo
by AZA great mix of samurai action and japanese mythology rolled into a bloody swordfest! If you can overlook the cheesy POWER RANGERS monsters you'll definitely enjoy this fantasy filled actioner. I happen to like that cheesy look of the monsters as it shows effort put into creating them instead of resorting completely to CGI. A fantastic story filled with katana swingin' action that makes this film highly recommended for lovers of the samurai and fantasy genre alike!

The Darjeeling Limited
by ~Lissa~This is definitely a movie worth watching. I really enjoyed the way the characters all played off each other. I think they were cast well because all three actors fit them. Owen Wilson as the older brother all beat up (both inside and out) who brought his two younger brothers to India on a spiritual journey to find their mother. Although that last part is not known to Adrian Brody and Jason Schwartzman.
There were scenes that were funny but touching at the same time. Who knew you could get kicked off a train in the middle of India and still survive.
I have enjoyed other Wes Anderson movies except for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I'm glad he got me back after this one.
If you already had this movie in your must see list, you gotta bump it up and watch it soon!posted 58 days ago -

Garage Days
by ~Lissa~I stumbled upon this film on IFC when I was bored, looking for a movie. I missed about 15 minutes of it but what kept me on the channel was the song. I think the soundtrack is the best thing about this movie. Besides having a few laughs in between.
The movie is about a band that isn't that good but still living the dream of making it big. They all love each other and are just trying to make it big.
The dinner scene with her parents was pretty funny and I'm still confused, was the girl taking a bath in blood real or not?
Anyways, if you stumble upon this movie I say give it a go!ok so i repeated myself in my review but i'm too lazy to redo it lol :)
