Well-crafted both in image and story. 'Poignant' isn't the right word, it's not that soppy. Reminds you that world history is always made up of personal stories with a refreshingly far-from-perfect hero.

Was still thinking about this for days afterwards. Great for fans of Dominique Pinon (Amélie, Délicatessan). Loved the characters and story.

A great female coming-of-age film that challenges what you think a love story should be. Fiona G and I were always right about James Spader...

A film that has left me with a lot to think about: children dealing with adult problems, friendships and damaged lives. An excellent film (Dinard Oct 2007 with Angelica)

Looked forward to this after enjoying Andrew Dominik's 'Chopper'. He really knows image and colour and can actually make violence effective in a story not just as entertainment. And, as per the other reviews - Yay Casey Affleck! Will he ever do anything better!?

Best watched with no preconceptions (like all films but this time it's essential) above all DON'T WATCH THE STUPID VIDEO FLICKR HAS KINDLY PUT UP TO SPOIL THE CENTRAL PART OF THE FILM!!! Haneke likes to test his audience - this is his funny game with you.

A little gem; humane, funny, superbly crafted. I had to go watch it twice and am aching to see again. Recommeded for everyone.
