October Sky October Sky PG 4.0 Stars
Every once in a while a gem drops outta no-where. October Sky is one of those gems.

Released in 1999 and Staring Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper, this flick tells the True Story of Homer Hickam. A boy with dreams of building rockets.

The story takes place in the 1950's in a small mining town in WV. Without much support and with a lot of ridicule, Homer tries to overcome his situation and live his dreams.

You might be thinking..."blah blah blah, another feelgood movie". But thats OK...I would have thought that also. I almost changed the channel when this flick came on. I am Glad I didn't !

This is a great Flick and even better that its a true story. Homer Hickam went on to become a engineer at NASA and MUCH more.
The Incredible Hulk The Incredible Hulk PG-13 4.5 Stars
Great Flick! I was sceptical about Norton playing this role. Dont get me wrong I love his acting. This just didn't seem like a role for him...was I wrong!

This sequel blew the first away! Was this really meant to be a sequel? Brilliant acting by Norton...Terrific villain played by Tim Roth. On the spot CGI and on the edge of your seat action!

Hey fellows...Does Liv Tyler have great set of legs or what? Loved the tie in at the end. I cant wait for the next flick.
Black Hawk Down Black Hawk Down R 5.0 Stars
I have seen this movie countless times but I felt compelled to write a review tonight. I was at work bored and twiddling my thumbs, a 18 wheeler pulled up and a fairly young trucker hopped out. We must have talked for an hour.

He's been home from Iraq for about a year. He was part of a rapid response unit in Baghdad and beyond. You know...one of those guys that get called when the shit hits the fan...and they need to make a precise drop of "boots" to an altercation.

He would repel from Black Hawks to hot spots in Iraq. Secure locations, re-enforce units already engaged or hunt and dispatch/capture insurgence.

His unit and several others were called to action. A lead Humvee was hit by an IED and they were also taking small arms fire. He and several others flew to that location and took up a position on a rooftop.

He was wounded and almost died when a RPG hit part of the structure. Several friends in his unit died from shrapnel.

He was injured so bad that he spent a few months in a German hospital before he was stable enough to fly home. Some of his friends were not that lucky. Did I mention this "boy" was 24 years old at the time, on his second tour?

Of course it reminded me of this movie. Though I haven't really reviewed this movie so far...just know if your one of the Few that haven't seen it you should.

Based on True events in the Battle of Mogadishu, in 1993 . Directed by Ridley Scott, Black Hawk Down shows us the courage, honor and valor that is the US Military. God Speed Brothers....IM glad I have a job that I can be bored at.

Good westerns are far and few in-between. 3:10 To Yuma ranks as one of the best. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale have great chemistry together. The script was well writing and this was Director James Mangold best movie so far.
Cloverfield Cloverfield PG-13 2.0 Stars
I have often read that this movie compared to "The Blair Witch Project, Meets Godzilla". I suppose thats an an accurate in the sense it is filmed from the view point of a person filming the events in this flick from his camcorder. The last part of the comparison is of course some large monster (that looked nothing like Godzilla) terrorizing and destroying the city.

While the premise of this idea had promise, the problem is that the script was weak, the acting sub-par and you see VERY VERY LITTLE of the monster.

The blame lays squally with the director Matt Reeves. He done a poor job with almost every aspect with this flick.

Save this one for cable TV.
Felon Felon R 4.0 Stars
I was sceptical about renting yet another prison movie. With very few exceptions most of them suck and are not worth the $2.99 to rent. On the advice of the store clerk, I reluctantly got it.

I was not disappointed. This flick was great from beginning to end. A good script followed with some great acting. Stephen Dorff and Harold Perrineau put soul in to this movie.

While Val Kilmer also had a major part in this flick, and I felt his acting was good, it was Not great. His performance felt a little to forced to me.

Next time your at your local video store, put this one your list. You wont be disappointed.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Pulp Fiction 2. Pulp Fiction R 5.0 Stars
Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece. A true work of art. This flick had a domino effect and all the pieces landed perfectly. A superb cast that delivered in every scene. A script that had imposing dialog. Now you will have to excuse me, I have to meet someone at Jack Rabbit Slims.
Clerks 3. Clerks R 5.0 Stars
Clerks Trivia: The film is in black-and-white and roughly edited due to a budget of $27,575. To acquire the funds for the film, Smith sold his extensive comic book collection in 1993, maxed out ten credit cards with $2000 limits, dipped into his college fund and spent insurance money for a car he and Jason Mewes lost in a flood.
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 4. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back PG 5.0 Stars
I love Empire Strikes Back, but I am simply using it as a place holder for the whole Star Wars Saga. How could I put into words a story that started in 1977 and crossed generations? I am and will always be a FanBoy!
Sin City 5. Sin City R 5.0 Stars
Frank Miller's Sin City jumps off the pages and right on to your screen! The artwork comes to life as if Frank Miller drew it himself. Robert Rodriguez is a genius not only for the direction of this movie but for the visual techniques he created!
Almost Famous 6. Almost Famous R 5.0 Stars
The best coming-of-age movie on film. IM a huge Jason Lee fan and although his role was minor, it was perhaps his best performance. Kate Hudson stole my heart and made me fall in love with her. If I only learned how to play the guitar....

An average comedy which is very well scripted and acted.... Not as funny as the TV show, but the film is very entertaining. Steve Carell is perfect as Agent 86 and Anne Hathaway more than holds her own as Agent 99. Dwayne Johnson is just added fun.

A surprisingly entertaining mystery, but it's not big on the horror. If you put horror out of your mind and just concentrate on the mystery, you'll enjoy Cry Wolf. Well acted and directed....

Just lucked up on this in the library. Havent heard anything about it before i watched it. This little movie is amazing. The music is astounding , yet very simple. it is a low key movie about an irish street perfomer and a czech single mothe who meet and find a way to support each otherwhile making music. this feels like a docudrama but actually the two leads, who write and perform all the music, are simply musicians playing a part. Rolling Stone called it a gift you can watch again and again. I wiil take their advice and watch it again before returning.
i know you said not interested in this but i would like to change your mind. this is possible the best film ive seen for quite a time.(i rate movies by my enjoyment of them, not canera work, direction or naything else)
got a lot of music in it but not a musical.
this was done just right, not fairy taleish and sappy sweet as in august rush.

By now almost everyone has read the reviews of Vantage Point- some good, many bad.... Thumbs up from me because I enjoyed the different points of view of the same occurrence. Though the film might not be realistic enough for most, the drama and action were well executed, and the acting was terrific. The twists of the film made me say WOW a few times.

A biopic on Richard Pimentel, leader of the movement and organization which lead to the development and passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.... Inspiring on so many levels, not the least of which is how we view people based upon their appearance. Music Within is outstandingly directed and the acting is superb. Heartfelt, insightful, humorous and informative....
