whatta asshole of producers! Bava refused to put his name on this movie since he had been asked to add 'exorcist-a-like' footages to his 'Lisa e il diavolo' The movie it has some good moments (see necrophile scene) but it's not well understandable.
Final exorcism of a preacher it put me down, i can't see this movie again. This is not a TRUE Bava movie, that's all. |

| 12 + 1 (The 13 Chairs) (Twelve Plus One) - R | a typical 60s euro-comedy, with a funny plot: a poor italian barber (Gassman) got good news: his aunt is dead and he travels immediately to England to take ownership of....nothing! Needing money to come back in Usa he sells whole chairs of aunt's home to an antique shop, but that night he finds an hidden aunt's letter which it speaks about A FORTUNE of money in one of those chairs...He must find the chair at any cost and here it starts his adventures... Nice post 68 movies, it has great moment of fun and sex (a threesome night with S.Tate and Ottavia Piccolo...whatta a luck that man!) .Wells and V.De Sica are guest star for some funny Cameos. Hey i watched a newest coloured version of this good movie..well, i must say that 'normal' scenes with real actors are great in colour but the scenes with the monster.. it's too much cartoon!! Definitely i prefer my memories of that good old b&w movie. The attack to the Golden Gate it's much better in B&W. I liked the heroine character, here the men are heros, ok, but SHE's much stronger, determined to advise the world about the danger of that monster (ahhh fellows who put the a-bombs on the deepness of the sea?) and She's a free-spiriit.
Atomic submarines and the courage of the Navy's heroes they won the battle vs the hungry octopus., obviously. I liked a couple of good moments: one it's when a dumb sheriff is eaten from the monster (he didn't believe to our heroes) and the other one is a scene of love ..that babe (F.Domergue) acted very naturally when she enjoyed the kisses of our untamed and handsome hero K.Tobey...maybe she didn't acted at all, haha! Do not ask me to eat octopus salad for a while , please... |

| L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo (The Bird With the Crystal Plumage) - PG | The first and best (for me) 'giallo' of Argento. Here starts his legend: a complicated plot with surprise at the end, a witness on the scene of the crime and the knives...knives for a killer who has dark dress , dark hat ,dark gloved ... (here Argento copied Bava, a nice tribute anyway). Argento adds gore and obsessive music during the murders. Sam, the witness , is the first suspected from the police but then he's the one who take the risks to discover the truth . He has just to remember that small detail...a small important detail. Argento did a nice job, score and cast of actors it's really good : Tony Musante and E.M.Salerno (very popular in Italy) are excellent actors and S.Kendall is hot. I wish to repeat myself: i like those 4-5 movies of Argento, surely, but he has been too much overated. | February 16, 2009 | N/A |
