Bullitt
by DeanA classic action film with a good car chase scene that set the standard for many other action films. It's clear to see how it influenced films made even 30 years later. Apart from the key scene though it's quite average overall but with a very good cast.

Death Race
by DeanA very good if totally OTT action film. A mix of Fast and the furious meets Running Man. Great no-brainer action film to kill 90mins with complete with some seriously modified cars!!

The Replacement Killers
by DeanA very cool stylized action film with plenty of shoot outs and a good cast. If you missed this it's well worth a watch.

Appaloosa
by DeanA very well assembled cast in a high quality produced western, which stars and is directed by Ed Harris. The only real problem I kept waiting for all hell to break loose and the pace to be upped a few gears and unfortunately it never really happens. If you don't mind a slower paced western you will enjoy it, if you are after more action I recommend the remake of 3:10 to Yuma.

Better than I expected with some cool effects.
Mirrors
by DeanI thought this was a pretty decent horror film overall. Starts well it has a few gory scenes and the old shopping mall has a spooky feel to and a different ending from the usual stuff we get. Tries to be a bit too much like the Ring in the second half but still a enjoyable film all the same.

Terminator Salvation
by DeanA very good addition to the series, better than the 3rd. Full of near non-stop action through out. A whole new range of terminators are on show and there are some great SFX/ action scenes. Some might not like the plot as it does differ from the first 3 where the action is pretty much one on one. This is very much a full on war. Go see it.

Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration)
by DeanA very good CGI animated film with a great level of detail, really makes it realistic as possible. They even used motion capture for the characters in the film for greater realism. At last a Resident Evil film that does tie in with the games! Bringing Claire Redfield and Leon S.Kennedy back together for more Zombie mayhem. Set 7 years after the Resident Evil 2 game where Racoon City was nuked and in the time line of the games after Resi Evil 4 and before 5. The story plot is simple but this is really like watching a playback of playing the game. If your a Resident Evil fan you will love this. The DVD also has tons of extras, making of, Leon interview, Resident Evil 5 footage plenty to entertain you.

Femme Fatale
by DeanA pretty decent sultry thriller directed by Brian DePalma. A jewel thief tries to cover her past but a chance photo of her alerts the people she has crossed before. Enjoyable if not quite a classic but I do like the ending and Rebecca Romijn suits the role to a T before her success as Mystique in the X-Men series.

If you like these type of comedy horrors it's worth seeing, otherwise wait for it to be on TV.
Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
by DeanA pretty cheesey B movie comedy horror. It's good in places but I started to get bored, it feels long even at 75mins. Slow to start but with a good end but not much to the story or plot. I was hoping for a lot more than this. On the plus side it has some very good old school make up effects and creature designs look good. One more for the horror fans, others may find it a little to slow.

One for those who like something new and different from the rest, either horror or thriller fans.
Donkey Punch
by DeanSeverely underrated low budget English horror/thriller! Taking a very modern turn on the horror theme and tackling some very taboo ideas as a group of youngsters decide to live it up on holiday losing all their inhibitions as they drink, take drugs and have sex. During which a sex myth tried out leads to one of them dying. As the others battle their own conscience and morals as well as each other to get out of the mess they are in, only ending up in more extreme violence. A good idea for a film that dares to be different. Some may be put off by the sex scene which borders on porn and by the violence. However it does raise some good issues to make a graphic film. Another good entry in recent English horror films. The DVD has quite a few interviews with the cast, director both after and during the making of. Along with some deleted scenes and commentaries.

Missed opportunity but still an average thriller if you like them.
Deception
by DeanAn very good cast, a good idea but a poor-ish execution only make this an ok thriller. I had high hopes for a lot more but the title alone really gives any idea of a twist away right from the start which was annoying. Hugh Jackman was very good in his role I thought and there are some sexy appearances from Natasha Henstridge (Species, Ghost of Mars) and Maggie Q (Die Hard 4). However it is all too straight forward to work out if you have seen any decent thriller before. Ok for a look but nothing special, you might prefer Derailed instead.

Doomsday
by DeanA very good, violent, gory action film with an eclectic mix of ideas from 28 weeks later, Mad Max and the Escape from NY/L.A. films. The plot is a kinda mix of those three films as well. Not original by any means but it has plenty of action all right and some bloody battles along the way. From the same director as the Descent and Dog Soldiers! If you like any of the films mentioned you'll enjoy this.

Forget the plot and enjoy the visuals!
Wanted
by DeanA very enjoyable action film with some great SFX and a brill car chase. You really need to switch your brain off though as it is all very unbelievable. Some might see it as a Matrix wannabe, no bad thing, but it's not up to those levels. Still a good film and worth watching if you like cool, action films.

I recommend you see...Depends if you like the low budget stuff really.
Vipers
by DeanA typical low budget B movie horror straight to DVD release. So corny and bad it actually becomes more of a comedy. Saying that the CGI wasn't half as bad as I have seen on other films. It also has a few familiar faces including Tara Reid. Good if you like low budget trashy horrors otherwise you'll want to avoid it.
