What Happens in Vegas

A very simple straight forward and yes predictable Rom-Com film, but I have to say an enjoyable one at that. It has some good jokes and laugh out loud moments and although it's cheesey and you know what you are getting, it's still a fun watch.

Monsters vs. Aliens

A great great cartoon if you like Kung Fu Panda and the first Shrek you'll love this

Blood: The Last Vampire

Storm Warning

A pretty good low budget horror from the makers of Wolf Creek. In the vein of the Texas chainsaw massacre. A young couple lost after a trip out on a small boat seek out some shelter only to come across some very odd rural folk. Slow start but a bloody and tense ending make up for it.

Fear

A very good thriller, I was very surprised I've not heard this mentioned before as it stars a young Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg. A little slow to start and predictable but a very good tense ending with some memorable scenes! Very enjoyable check it out if you missed it to.

Fire On The Amazon (Lost Paradise)

Really rather slow and not that interesting to be honest. Seeing it was made in '91 I have to say the picture quality is very poor and even the dubbing is out of sync. It could have been better on a bigger scale, but it will be better known for a nude scene for Sandra Bullock in an early role for her.

Eden Lake

An original film described by some as "hoodie horror" as a young middle class couple become terrorised by a pack of feral youths on a camping weekend. What is scary is that some of the behaviour of the teens in this isn't too far away from what is really happening in society today. A simple confrontation escalates into ever growing violence until it becomes a case of just trying to survive and escape to safety. There is some social commentary raised in the film about why the kids are this way and parents taking responsibility, but this isn't in your face it's very subtle. Overall it makes for an interesting different kind of horror film.

Fire Birds

At last!!! I have been trying to remember the name of this film and find it for ages! Known as Wings of the Apache in the UK. This is basically Top Gun with the Apache gunship helicopter...I didn't even realize at the time Nicholas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones were in this! Must have have been a long time ago when I saw it, but it has some great action scenes. Well worth checking out!

Good Luck Chuck

A pretty decent comedy with more than a fair share of laughs. A real mix of sex/romantic comedies that it is like most rom-coms and predictable but also similar to the likes of American Pie in many ways. Overall quite funny at times and enjoyable enough to watch if you like these styles of comedy films.

Funny Games

A strange film with not very much plot or explanation as to what is going on, although some might like this more because of that. It's a very gritty, raw, rather bleak film as a couple of psycho's decide to play games with a family in the holiday home. Just need to watch a comedy after to lift your mood!

No Man's Land: The Rise of Reeker

A good film continuing on from Reeker, which is part prequel and sequel. Very similar to the first but if you have seen that, you know what to expect from this. Very good for a low budget film and good to have some back story to the main character. Worth seeing if you liked the first one.

Honest

A pretty decent crime drama/love story with a good amount of humour to. Set in the swinging 60's in East London. The girls from the band All Saints star in this along side a good array of English acting talent. The girls look to rob places up town to get a better way of life for their family but get mixed up in all sorts of trouble way above their heads. An enjoyable film catch it if it's on.

Pathology

A pretty decent thriller if all a tad too obvious, not too mention just slightly bizarre?! Very gory, gruesome in places baring in mind the title. Ok for a watch once but far from great.

13 Going on 30 (Suddenly 30)

Another take on the child/adult swap like Big and the recent 17 again. This is done rather well in this film and remains quite lighthearted and funny with a strong cast. One of the better rom-coms of this genre.

WALL-E

A brilliant film in so many ways!! It is so simple with barely any dialogue, but it doesn't need it you can tell what is going on by the actions and expressions can say more than a thousands words with a film like this. It's cute, funny and smart and carries a message about the environment. Technically the level of detail in the animation is amazing and set new standards for all animations. There are slight influences from Short circuit in the design of Wall-e and 2001: A Space Odyssey as well later in the film. Do not miss this film!!

Knowing

A very enjoyable film and although a big budget film it doesn't overload you with SFX scenes. It's part action, disaster film but with a good solid story line to it. The action/disaster scenes are very intense and not seen on this scale before. Not everyone will enjoy the way it ends but overall a very good film worth seeing on the big screen.
