I saw this film on TCM and loved it. It's tthe biography of a young man who becomes the pupil of a Viola maestro in 17th century France. If you like Renaiisance string music, you'll love the frequent performances here. Gerard Depardieu is wonderful, as always, as the now middle aged man who was once the student who is the subject of the film. Made in France in 1991, the film won numerous awards.
This film is the directing debut of John Malkovich. It's an engrossing tale of the search for the leader of a group of revolutionaries in an unnamed Latin American country. The acting is first rate, and the authentic locations make for great atmosphere. If you liked The Day of the Jackal, Z, and Salvador, you'll enjoy this first rate political drama.
Ray Milland is a rich guy in poor health. In order to extend his life, he arranges to have his head grafted onto the shoulder of healthy young athlete Rosey Grier. Need I say more? A must for lovers of weird and campy films.
This one has great footage of early live performances by great bands. The performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, John Lennon in the early post-Beatles days, and, of course, The Rolling Stones are terrific.
An amazing look at Dylan at the peak of his performance quality and his skills with blowing the minds of interviewers. Favorite quote - "be careful or I'll put you on".
A deep film about spirituality and mysticism masquerading as a terrific action flick. The bank robbery alone is worth the price of admission. One of Keanu's best, and Patrick Swayze's too. Watch for members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a cameo.
This grim little heist film is Noir at it's best. Ed Begley, Harry Belafonte, Robert Ryan, and Shelley Winters star. Look for a young Wayne Rogers in a cameo.
Thie original version of this film, it makes the re-make look like an underfed turkey. Peter Falk and Alan Arkin provide some of the best laughs around.
This little Mob revenge thriller has been overlooked, but it is a thrill a minute. Robert Duvall and Joe Don Baker are great together, and the rest of the cast is perfect.
Thugs hijack a New York Subway train and hold it for ransom. The action in this thriller never lets up. The cast includes Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Jerry Stiller, and Martin Balsam. See it. Now
