Tous Les Matins du Monde (All the Mornings of the World) - Unrated I saw this film on TCM and loved it. It's tthe biography of a young man who becomes the pupil of a Viola maestro in 17th century France. If you like Renaiisance string music, you'll love the frequent performances here. Gerard Depardieu is wonderful, as always, as the now middle aged man who was once the student who is the subject of the film. Made in France in 1991, the film won numerous awards. November 13, 2008

The Dancer Upstairs - R This film is the directing debut of John Malkovich. It's an engrossing tale of the search for the leader of a group of revolutionaries in an unnamed Latin American country. The acting is first rate, and the authentic locations make for great atmosphere. If you liked The Day of the Jackal, Z, and Salvador, you'll enjoy this first rate political drama. October 20, 2008
