I'm laid back, easygoing, and like to watch movies. No particular genre, but I like a good mystery. I also like comedies, and horror movies.
My favorie TV Show is LOST, and I bleed Baltimore Oriole orange! Anyone ever see The 4 Skulls of Jonathan Drake??? :) |

True Romance
R
I find no flaws in this movie. It's just a perfect knock down drag em out shoot em up love story :-) Slater & Arquette have great chemistry. This is what love is all about. The supporting cast features Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini, and the brilliant Gary Oldman. Watch for cameos by Brad Pitt and Val Kilmer, and pass me that honey bear bong. I could watch Clarence and Alabamas cross country love story over and over! Watch it, and then we'll go for pie. Do you like to get pie after a good flick?

A Few Good Men
R
Aaron Sorkin's masterpiece about a young Navy lawyer who defends two soldiers with the help of his best friend and Demi Moore!! Jack Nicholson won an Oscar for his superb portrayal of Col. Nathan Jessup. If you can handle the truth, the truth is, I've never met anyone who didn't like this movie.
3.
Batman
PG-13
Tim Burton's best film! Jack Nicholson makes Cesar Romero's Joker look weak, and I love Cesar Romero! I was so impressed with the writing, directing, casting, and acting with this pretty much flawless movie. This is what comic book movies are supposed to look like! No matter how dark the movie feels, Joker Jack steals the show and brightens the screen. My choice for Batman wouldn't have been Michael Keaton, but damn if he didn't pull it off (TAKE THAT GEORGE CLOONEY, VAL KILMER, etc.) Robert Wuhl added comic relief and Kim Basinger was, well, Kim Basinger. I even enjoyed the music provided by the royal badass, Prince. Michael Gough began his run of Batman movies as Alfred Peenyworth and he was very good. He's no Alan Napier, but Napier was dead when this was released I believe, or would have been in his 90's probably, so Gough was sufficient. "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

A Nightmare on Elm Street
R
The birth of a legend! Robert Englund is perfectly cast as the very evil Freddy Krueger. Although there were many before him in the slasher genre (Phantasm's Tall Man, Michael Myers, etc.) Freddy took it to the next level. Excellent supporting cast including Heather Langencamp, and John Saxon. To this day, one of my favorite movies of all time. Johnny Depp made his motion picture debut in this movie.
5.
Die Hard
R
Another one of my all time favorite movies. Bruce Willis' best movie ever and a flick that is so full of action you won't want to leave your seat, although you'll only need the edge :-) Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber will go down in history as one of the best villians in cinema history. Yippy Kai Yay indeed
6.
Poison Ivy
R
This movie started it all for me. Drew was smokin' hot, played a good bad girl, and even wore a sweet pair of boots. Sara Gilbert was solid as Ivy's best friend. This movie also stars my childhood crush, Cheryl Ladd. What ruins it for me is naked Tom Skerrit. No need to show "old man ass!"

Sick Nurses (Suay Laak Sai)
by DuncanIt's like And Then There Were None meets Ju-On: The Grudge as directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Considering that it's a horror movie, I guess the fact that the scares are few and far between is kind of a drawback. Still, a surprisingly sexy antagonist toy around with the lives of a bunch of vain nurses and the pig of a doctor they work for is surprisingly fun to watch.
File Sick Nurses under "Guilty Pleasures".Before I head back to facebook, I figured I'd send out one more recommendation.
People I'd recommend this for:
*Fans of J-Horror (real J-Horror, not the American remake crap)
*Fans of slasher flicks
*Fans of B movies and/or Grade Z flicks
*Fans of black comedy
People I'd NOT recommend this for:
*Squeamish parsons, or people who get bored with gore
*People who want a deep story and character development
*People looking for a good scare (unless you thought the recent remake of Prom Night was scary, this ain't gonna set your teeth a-chattering)
*People with eating disorders or poor self-esteem when it comes to their bodies (one of the nurses is a fitness freak, and another one's bulimic)
*Homophobic parsons (the twist at the end is -and I mean this in the least derogatory way possible- pretty gay)
So, if you fit the criteria, give Sick Nurses a rent.

Sleepy Hollow
by DuncanIf you're expecting a faithful re-telling of the classic short story, look somewhere else. If you're expecting darkly lit, mildly humorous, entertaining Halloween fare that's not too gory for the little ones but still packs some grizzly scares, then you're in for a treat.
The names of people and places are the same, but that's where any connection to Washington Irving's tale stops. Ichabod Crane, masterfully played by Johnny Depp, is a skeptical forensic scientist in this incarnation, rather than a superstitious schoolteacher. The Headless Horseman is an actual vengeful ghost rather than an envious Brom Van Brunt in disguise, and the Van Tassel's ... well, to prevent giving anything away, let's just say they aren't quite what they seem.
Yes, boils and ghouls, this isn't Washington Irving's legend. This is Tim Burton's tale, and although it's not quite as good as some of his other work, it's still a helluva lot of fun. The cast is superb, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the music is excellent. Throw in the occasional "Nightmare Before Christmas" homage and a straightforward plot rife with witty dialogue (or, in one characters case, a monologue), and you got yourself a nice little fairytale for a Hallow's Eve night...Hello again, everyone. Just want to wish you all a happy and safe Hallow's Eve, and let you all know that I'll be managing all my flixster stuff from my facebook profile from here on out.
So, if you want to send me movie recommendations (and vice versa), add me as a friend on facebook if you haven't already. And once you do, make sure that you add the "flixster movies" application so that you can still send me recommendations.
