I loved this movie! Hilarious w/ a happy ending! I like Eva, Amber, and Will but to me Kevin made the movie. I was undone watching him dance! And I had to load that clip of him doing "The Q-Tip! The Q-Tip! Throw it Away! Throw it Away!"

Facing the Giants (2006,  PG)
Facing the Giants 5.0 Stars
The title alone is a sermon. This movie reminded me the rich, sumptuous, decadent, and flourless slice of cake I had at the Ice Box Cafe in Miami. You don't hear me!!! The Lord used this film to minister mightily to me. More then and outreach tool! It embodied all the things in a movie that I want to see. I will part w/ one of my favorite quotes from the film (spoken by the coach to his players). "I want God to bless this team so much people will talk about what He did. But it means we gotta give Him our best in every area. And if we win, we praise Him. And if we lose, we praise Him. Either way we honor Him with our actions and our attitudes. So I'm askin' you... What are you living for? I resolve to give God everything I've got, then I'll leave the results up to Him. I want to know if you'll join me." -- Grant Taylor
And to the reader of this review I ask the same question! Will you join me? Vin

Something the Lord Made (2004,  Unrated)
Something the Lord Made 5.0 Stars
[Amazed at Vivian's surgical skill] Dr. Alfred Blalock exclaims, "This is like something the Lord made!"

The curious thing is that Flixster fails to include Mos Def in the cast of this marvelous film.

I was gonna end my comments, but then I heard Vivian Thomas' wife, played by Gabrielle Union, tell Vivian (Mos Def), "Just because your not in the news doesn't mean you were not there Viv!" The influence and significance of his wife is incomprehensible. Praise God for her encouragement and timely words.

"I'm invisible to the world, I understand that I don't mind that, but I thought it was different in here! - Vivian Thomas (Mos Def) tells Dr. Alfred Blalock. Sometimes we are not recognized for our efforts and the absence of praise can be immeasurably difficult; even if we are changing how the human heart works like Vivian. Yet how many know that it is God that will exalt you in due time...so be faithful and remain humble in your endeavors.

Blood Diamond 4.0 Stars
Seems like a reoccurring theme, i.e. the resources of Africa are stolen and/or exploited. Slave trade and now the diamond trade. This movie made me ashamed of our "no clouds in my stones" mentality cause in reality "Bling Bling" was really "Bling Bang!" Well, like my mom used to say "ignorance is bliss." But I digressed. Anyway, I always marvel at how little we value human life, especially since man was created in the image of God, and the lengths we go to satisfy our greeds and not our needs. Woe to us when the books are opened and its time to give an account for our commercialism, creature comforts, and corporate greed. And finally in the words of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) "...the people back home wouldn't buy a ring if they knew it cost someone else their hand. "

This is a classic! I think my sister and I watched this movie umpteen times growing up. I loved it! Funny movie! Shot in B&W. The music, action, acting were great. So many sing along songs too. "So you wanna be a boxer in the golden ring. Can you punch like a southbound freight train? Tell me this one thing..." This movie is bananas and features Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, and others.
