Girl, Interrupted
R
Girl, Interrupted - Based on a true story.. An excellent plot based on the true story of Susanna Kaysen's autobiography on her stay in a mental institution... Susanna is depressed and directionless after finishing high school in the late 1960's. A suicide attempt lands her in Claymore, a mental institution. She befriends the band of troubled women in her ward (Georgina the pathological liar, the sexually abused Daisy, the burn victim Polly) but falls under the hypnotic sway of Lisa, the wildest and most hardened of the bunch. Will Susanna "drop anchor" at Claymore and perpetually act out like Lisa, or will she finally pull her mind together and leave institutional life behind?.. There are some great scene in the movie but the two that gets me is the scenes were when they go to Daisy's house and Lisa confronts her about her father then the next day Susanna is walking up the stairs to find Daisy is dead, and the scene were Susanna and Valerie have a talk, its just incredible and it really touches your heart its just amazing... Fantanic peformance from both Wionna Ryder and Angelina Joile.... Jolie completely immerses herself in the role, and gives a moving, intriguing and haunting performance as Susanna's best friend at the hospital. Although Ryder does an excellent job portraying the earnestness and confusion of her character, Jolie is the true star of this movie.... I also admire the smaller roles in it such as Brittney Murphy who was amazing, Clea Duvall and Whoppi Goldberg... the cast is enchanting... James Mangold has done a beautiful job directing this movie.. i would recommend anyone to see this movie even if you haven't read the book, the movie has a great impact on the life of Susanna..

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
PG-13
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix - Evil Must Be Confronted plot: After returning to Hogwarts to begin his fifth year at Hogwarts, Harry Potter discovers that much of the wizarding world, including the Ministry of Magic, is in denial about Lord Voldemort's return. The Order of the Phoenix, a group sworn against Voldemort, is using its vast array of wizards and witches magical abilities to combat Voldemort. Cornelius Fudge, Minister for Magic, suspects that Dumbledore is using these claims of The Dark Lord's return as a means to over-throw Fudge as Minister. In retaliation, a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher is appointed by the Ministry in order to keep an eye on Hogwarts. This new teacher, Professor Umbridge, implies strict new teachings and rules, forcing a group of students, under the tutelage of Harry, to form a club, by the name of Dumbledore's Army... i thought the casting for the characters of luna, tonks and Umbridge were done very well... the acting was amazing in this movie... i was so happy to hear that helena would be taking over helen to play the role of bellatrix lestrange.. she is amazing doing her even tho she only had a couple of lines, she pulled it off great.. Daniel, gives his best performance as Harry by adding further depth, anger, and vulnerability to the character.. he really is the perfect Potter.. Rupert and Emma are once again delightful and thier performaces are getting better and better and the rest of the cast are fab.. i loved the end fight between dumbledore and voldmort(amazing).. leaving a hole for the nxt hp movie.. david yates did a great job.. I would certainly recommend the movie for everyone, fan or not, as it really was a well made movie

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
R
Sweeney Todd - Never Forget Never Forgive... Plot: Base on the hit boardway musical from the wonderful Stephen Sondheim....taking to the big screen by the awesome Tim burton...comes a tale of Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd (Depp) living a simply life as a barber with a wife Lucy (Kelly) and his daughter Johanna (wisener)...when the lust of an evil judge (Rickman) throws all of their lives into chaos...Jugde Tupin has Benjamin Barker deported to Australia never to return again...Benjamin now under the Pseudonym of Sweeney Todd returns to england many years later with the help of young sailor Anthony Hope(Bower)...hoping to be reunited with his wife and daughter and punish Judge Turpin and the society who destoryed his life...with the help of Mrs. Lovett (Carter) who had known Sweeney as Benjamin Barker and his family all those years ago...Sweeney opens his old barber shop above Mrs.Lovett's Pie Shop were she sell "the worst pies in the London"..to rid all the people who ever done him wrong...he disposes the body in Mrs.Lovett's pies...in order to be reunited with his daughter Johanna, who is now in Judge Turpin's ward... "They all deserve to die. Tell you why, Mrs. Lovett, tell you why. Because in all of the whole human race, Mrs. Lovett, there are two kinds of men and only two. There's the one staying put in his proper place and one with his foot in the other one's face. Look at me, Mrs Lovett! Look at you! No, we all deserve to die. Even you, Mrs Lovett, even I!" Sweeney Todd is one of the best musical i have seen and one hell of a great movie..This movie is all I could ever hope it would be, violent, thrilling, musical and comedic....seeing the other plays (Sweeney Todd (2006) and (Sweeney Todd in Concert 2001) and being a fan of the original Broadway stage versions i had no complaints...i was happy to see again now on the big screen and it was well worth the wait to see this amazing movie..... I get Three for the price of one great movie... (Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter..)... plus the wonderful Alan Rickman ( Judge Turpin)...this movie also has some great acting and singing from some newbees....Jayne Wisener (Johanna), Jamie Campbell Bower (Anthony) and Ed Sanders (Toby).......also some perfect acting from Sacha Baron Cohen (Signor Pirelli), Timothy spall (Beadle), and Laura Michelle kelly (Lucy/Bagger woman)...all the actor done an fantanic job.. Johnny Depp performance was outstanding, sensational and is the perfect match for portraying the scheming, vengeance-obesessed barber Sweeney Todd.. Helena Bonham Carter is extraordinary.....she brings humor and a kind of pathos to her wonderfully wacky mrs.Lovett...she was absolutely perfect for this role (just as Depp was for Todd) and perfectly captures the love that Lovett has for Sweeney.. Alan Rickman was a slendid choice and is so deliciously evil without being over the top..remarkable, fabulously villainous mode and with Timothy Spall (who it just talented).. made a great pair of evil doers... also some perfect acting from Sacha Baron Cohen (Signor Adolfo Pirelli), Timothy spall (Beadle Bamford), and Laura Michelle kelly (Lucy/Bagger woman)... The Younger cast were fantanic..Anthony (Bower), Johanna (Wisener), and Toby (Sanders) are all very young and innocent, with angelic voices, and little Toby is a scene-stealer....Jamie and Jayne, respectively are refreshing winsome in thier roles....Ed as Toby was outstanding in his role, amazing for such a young actor.....His song 'not while am around' may be one of the most poignant yet.. and the dramatic of his character feel exactly right up to the bitter end...they all show a bright career in the future... Cinematography is beautiful which set the dark and grim atmosphere of the tale of vengeance..The set-decoration, costumes, and make up were absolutely exquisite..a fresh tale of murder, vengeance, and implications of cannibalism. the music was downright fantastic..although the cast are not known for thier singing abilities..they have done an excellent job at it..although some people like me may regret the loss of some clever Sondheim songs You see why Tim Burton is my favourite diector....Tim Burton has diected yet other "MASTERPIECE"...he's been a fan of Stephen Sondheim boardway musical, he's waited to direct his own and he has done an incredible job and pulled it of perfetly....and now officially the master of dark and delightful...no matter how dark he is... Bravo Tim, Bravo!...![]()

Con Air
R
Con Air - Get Ready To Fly.. Plot: Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) a highly decorated US ranger, is convicted of manslaughter after killing a drunk man while protecting his wife outside a bar, he is sent to jail for eight years. During that time his daughter is born, but he waits patiently in his cell until his release date. On his release date Cameron has to share a prison airplane with some of the most dangerous and vicious criminals in the country. These criminals include: Nathan 'Diamond Dog' Jones (Ving Rhames) - life sentence for murder, William 'Billy Bedlam' Bedford (Nick Chinlund), and the most deadly, who has done almost everything, Cyrus 'The Virus' Grissom (a fantastic John Malkovich).. The convicts manage to escape directed by Cyrus "The Virus", who also leads the plane's take-over and re-routes it to an abandoned airfield to catch another plane which will take them to a foreign country. Cameron has to find a way to stop them while playing along. Meanwhile, United States Marshal Vincent Larkin (John Cusack) is trying to help Cameron get free and stop the criminals.. Nicholas Cage is amazing as always and is amazing here, he is extremely likable, a major bad ass, proves he can play a top notch action hero, and had a character we can root and care for, his accent not that great but still good. John Cusack is very impressive as U.S. Marshal Vince Larkin. John Malkovich is spectacular as the cold-blooded Cyrus `The Virus' Grissom, and he very effectively takes on the leadership position of the remaining criminals on board the plane. Steve Buscemi is awesome he plays a small role is as Garland Greene, who is wheeled onto the plane tied down in true Hannibal Lecter form, and who is one of the quieter and less disruptive criminals on the plane. Also great performances from Ving Rhames, Rachel Ticotin, Dave Chappelle, M.C Gainey and the rest of the cast.. I commend director Simon West, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer on how well they put together the action sequences and bringing together the tremendous cast without any clash of egos. Con Air takes you on a two-hour adventure , powerful action sequences and great direction. This has a dynamic and fantastic in the last half, with an incredible ending climax. An action packed film from start to finish with a great story to accompany it. as well as comedic moments at times with great one-liners by various actors. I urge everyone (Maybe not younger children, due to Strong language and Violence) to see Con Air for a great action film with substance..

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
PG-13
Pirates of the caribbean:at world's End is the best one of the series for me... Plot:After Elizabeth, Will, and Captain Barbossa rescue Captain Jack Sparrow from the the land of the dead, they must face their foes, Davy Jones and Lord Cutler Beckett. Beckett, now with control of Jones' heart, forms a dark alliance with him in order to rule the seas and wipe out the last of the Pirates. Now, Jack, Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth, Tia Dalma, and crew must call the Pirate Lords from the four corners of the globe, including the infamous Sao Feng, to gathering. The Pirate Lords want to release the goddess Calypso, Davy Jones's damned lover, from the trap they sent her to out of fear, in which the Pirate Lords must combine the 9 pieces that bound her by ritual to undo it and release her in hopes that she will help them fight. With this, all pirates will stand together and will make their final stand for freedom against Beckett, Jones, Norrington, the Flying Dutchman, and the entire East India Trading Company... The action sequences were fantastical - great fantasy. They kept you breathless and wanting more - and you never knew quite how a certain situation would end... Johnny Depp (the greatest actor of his generation) is great as always. Orlando Bloom has came a long way since the first film and he gives a terrific performance. Keira is as hot as always and this is also her best performance to date. It was a real joy to see Geoffrey Rush back in the series. Chow Yun-Fat was great as the villain and Keith Richards' cameo was one of the funniest moments in the film. I'd recommend the film, then: pretty much everyone in the world will go and see it regardless...

It has lots of Action,Drama and Thriller all together, makes a delicious movie to watch..the movie contains some excellent scenes, including an excellent car chase in the snow... It went through a range of so many different emotions and events in the lives of the four troubled men.. Mark, Garrett Andre and Tyrese are flawless playing the adopted Mercer brothers in this movie, they play off each other like they're real brothers; it's amazing to watch....the chemistry between the actors was great.... Forrest Gump
by Sam
Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!
Directed by: Robert Zemeckis
Starring: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright-Penn, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, Sally Field
Genre: Comedy/Drama/Romance
Running time: 142 minutes
My review:
Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny, eludes him.
Forrest Gump is without a doubt the most inspiring film that I have ever seen. It almost broke my heart because of what happens within it. It is a film that I think everybody loves in either the funny way, dramatic way or romantic way but I love it all three ways. I find it to be a story of hope, courage and pure adventure because Forrest sees life in all sorts of different ways because of the events that occur in his life. This is an inpriation to me aswell bercause of the different sorts of characters and how they combine together in their own little ways. I find it to be a very thought provoking film because of the measures each other character takes. It makes me feel good because all of the characters within the film are just adorable and loving. I really love adventurous stories and Forrests life was an awesome experiencing life that was very eventful. Now that is the life. I do think that Forrests life is something that everybody would probably wish for because of the beautiful moments in his life and yet some of very light downs in his life at the same time. I do have to say that this film can almost be a film for the entire family but without the war violence and the extremely emotional story but it would be a good family film because of the loving Forrest Gump character and his adventures in his life until he meets the ultimate gift later on which literally made me cry and made me feel great because that is a moment of how I would feel. Forrest Gump is one of my Five Perfect Films.
Tom Hanks delivers in my personal opinion the best leading male performance of all time because I could see everything that Tom was meant to be in this film. This film along with The Green Mile, Tom Hanks is the most inspiring actor that has ever lived and is my favourite actor. Tom isnt only playing Forrest Gump but he IS Forrest Gump and its as simple as that. Tom showed that Forrest has a really big heart and a real open mind but is quite stubborn in his own way. Toms performance is really awesome too because Tom isnt like Forrest Gump at all in real life. He made Forrest like a real life person which is what not many talented actors actually accomplish in their careers. Tom made me feel great because he is really good at being able to cry in a film and because of that he made me cry because of his inspiring ways of portraying the character. Tom is really good at playing that romantic type too. After seeing him in Sleepless In Seattle, he is a really good romantic actor. I havent seen that yet but will see it very soon. Anyway, Tom has shown more emotion than he has ever done in any film he has ever been in before. That is one of the main reasons why I find Toms performance so great. He makes Forrest Gump a character that I would have liked to meet because he seems like a really sweet and warmhearted man. Robin Wright-Penns performance is really good as Jenny Curran. She is a really gorgeous woman but has a bad troubled childhood and also because of her complete drug addiction and prostitution. Because of this, it affects her life deeply but Forrest is there to help her when she comes to him. I could feel the love between Jenny and Forrest but also I could see what Jenny has over Forrest like the smarter mind. Gary Sinises performance is really good because he is an arrogant Lieutenant in the Army who loses his legs after being shot in the legs by Vietnamese soldiers. I do find Lieutenant Dan a really funny character aswell as a really emotional character because of the typical bitter and strict character involved. He brings a comedy side to the film when he is scenes with Forrest. Gary Sinise is really good at playing that sort of character with a bitter attitude as he did as George in Of Mice And Men remake. He deserved Oscar nomination aswell as Tom Hanks deserved his win very much. Mykelti Williamson brings comedy with Forrest is this film which is really great again. The comedy never stops and neither does the drama nor romance between any of the characters involved in the film. Mykelti was a typical Alabama man with a passion for shrimping. Sally Field is really supporting in this masterpiece as Mrs. Gump who is the mother of Forrest Gump. It is quite ironic with Sally Field and Tom Hanks because Field is only 10 years older than Hanks and she portrays his mother. He is like old enough in real life to be her younger brother. That was quite bizarre but was an outstanding connection between the two. She should have had an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She deserves the credit for the female acting in this film more than Robin Wright-Penn even though she was still really good. The Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment makes a mild appearance in this film too.
Robert Zemeckis direction was absolutely superb. He didn?t just make a film that can tell the future of ones life but also one that can be seen and loved in different ways. It was a cool film aswell as an inspiring film. This is Zemeckis best work and always will be. The script was really awesome. I havent read the novel but it must be as good as the film surely. It is written in a different mixture of genres.
This film is very similar to films like Rain Man, I Am Sam and Whats Eating Gilbert Grape? because of the character within it with a disability but all are different at the same time because they all have different problems in different situations in different places. But they all do have a meaning to what life can be like in different aspects.
The chemistry between Forrest and Jenny is in Forrests mind love at first sight because he fell for her at the first moment he saw her. In Jennys mind, it was really like friendship to begin with but when she needed Forrest in her desperate times because of her drug addiction and prostitution, she slowly started to fall in love with him. They are still best friends aswell though. Forrest and Dans relationship was unknown at first because they didnt know each other very well but when something happens to Dan, they become almost like best friends and talk to each other about each others problems and help each other. I find it to be the best partnership within the film. Forrest and Bubba almost became best friends since they first met because they were with each other all the time in the Army. Dan sort of takes that place after Bubba dies in the Army.
The art direction was really good in this film with a very casual scenery with a typical American style to it. The cinematography is a lot like that aswell with very cleverly used photography. The make-up is good on this film particularly in the war scenes. The music score was very soft with a lot of emotional music but with quite an upbeat tone to it. The sound effects were outstanding in the war scenes but also in the impactful and twisting scenes that occur in the film. Most of all the qualities, the visual effects are the best. They are mostly best on Lieutenant Dans missing legs even though Gary Sinise has legs in real life. Those visual effects with the missing legs look so realistic, it is untrue.
This film won 6 Academy Awards: Best Leading Actor (Tom Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects and most importantly Best Picture 1994 by beating two films that are more famous than Forrest Gump. Those two films were Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption. It was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Gary Sinise) but lost to Martin Landau in Ed Wood, Best Cinematography but lost to Legends Of The Fall, Best Art Direction but lost to The Madness Of King George, Best Sound Mixing but lost to Speed, Best Sound Editing but lost to Speed, Best Make-Up but lost to Ed Wood and Best Music Score but lost to The Lion King. This won 3 Golden Globes including Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Actor Drama (Tom Hanks) and Best Picture Drama. It was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Gary Sinise) but lost to Martin Landau in Ed Wood, Best Supporting Actress (Robin Wright-Penn) but lost to Dianne Wiest in Bullets Over Broadway, Best Screenplay but lost to Pulp Fiction and Best Music Score but lost to The Lion King.
This is Robert Zemeckis finest work to date. I think it will always be my favourite film from him. It is my favourite film from the 1990s and favourite film of 1994 after that was a great year for film. It is Tom Hanks best film and it always will be. I love him in The Green Mile and Saving Private Ryan too. It is my favourite drama film, my favourite inspiring film and most importantly, its in my top 5 films of all time and one of My Five Perfect Films.Hey, you should really see this!
I love this film to bits. It is a film that made me cry and not many films do that. It was the pure beauty of it not only because of the drama that occurs. Forrest Gump truly is a loving masterpiece that I think could be worth a family film.

This really didn't get the recognition it deserved. Even though it was long it was worth it. One of Sean Penn's best.
Beautiful cinematography, touching, tragic and based on a true story =) Emile Hirsch is amazing, he outshines the film with his charm, devotion and sacrifice to the role, and the characters he meets along the way are believable and convincingly portrayed. You should definately add this to your ones to watch list if you haven't seen it.Ya gotta see it lovies x
