Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979,  R)
Monty Python's Life of Brian 5.0 Stars
Another great effort by the Pythons. Between this and DOGMA, there's two movies on my favorites lists condemned by religious (over)zealots.

Next to Young Frankenstein, my favorite Mel Brooks movie. It doesn't hurt that I already like westerns.

Captures perfectly the atmosphere of Universal's Frankenstein films. If you see only one Mel Brooks movie, it should be this one.

Not quite as great as the original, but close. I hope Kevin's not serious about not doing any more Jersey Saga films.

Not up to the other Jersey Saga films, but very entertaining nonetheless. Good to see Stan Lee making an appearance.

Chasing Amy (1997,  R)
Chasing Amy 4.5 Stars
Smith's most serious film is also pretty funny when it sets out to be. Why can't Affleck put as much effort into most of his films as he does in Smith's films? (Though I do think DAREDEVIL was underrated).

A dead-on look at organized religion, plenty of adventure, lots of humor, Salma Hayek dancing around in her underwear...what more could you ask for? :)

It was only a matter of time before Smith's most popular characters got their own movie. Hilarious and at times self-deprecating.
