The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King

My favourite movie ever and for good reason. The final climatic chapter of the LOTR trilogy concludes the paths of every character exceptoinal well. The cast all do there part with roles however big or small. The most standout performances come from Any Serkis as the tortured Gollum, Viggo Mortensen as the returning heir to the throne of Gondor and Sean Astin as Frodo's best friend and protector SamWise Gamgee. But it must be noted that the rest of the cast are strong and hold the whole story together. It would take just one poor actor or actress to be the weak link that breaks the chain but luckily every performance is just right and you couldn't really imagine other actors or actresses in the roles. Just like the previous two films The Return of The King features an amazing epic soundtrack that puts most other epics to shame. Lets just say that the soundtrack to the whole LOTR trilogy is up there with the likes of Braveheart and The Last of the Mohicans. The music in Return of the King can range from tragic and sad to inspiring and heart warming. The writing is outstanding and very faithful to the novels while also being easier to understand. It caters to both fans of the books and people looking for a great movie. Models and cgi effects bring the images of Middle Earth to life. Yes I said cgi, but most of the LOTR trilogy relies on the breathtaking models. This rings true in The Return of The King, Minas Tirith for example is brought to life as a gigantic model and the Baradur etc. Peter Jackson proves to us that cgi always works better when partnered with detailed models and not all by it's lonesome. The costumes are incredibly detailed and you can barely imagine how difficult it must of been for WETA workshop. Overall this the best of the Trilogy. It takes what is best from Two Towers and Fellowship of the ring and blends it all together in pure brilliance. If you've seen it watch it again and if you haven't seen it....put it on the must watch before you go list. PS: Check out the extended versions if wanted more.
