The Haunting of Molly Hartley
PG-13
Predictable, lacks suspense and shocking moments, and an overall poor film.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon
PG-13
I went into this movie knowing what to expect, and yet somehow still managed to laugh my way through a good portion of it. The sparkling vampires and hilarious moments of Robert Pattinson running at the camera in slow motion with his drawn-on abs were just too much. The action scenes were short and seperated by long bouts of the lead female's mental breakdowns. Essentially it's just a preteen flick, with all the nonsense about the 'perfect guy' and the relationship drama and the vampire/werewolf metaphors for the complicated process of growing up I can see how they connect to it. There were even a few moments where I got into it myself. However, it just took a line of cheesy dialogue or mediocre acting to knock me back to my senses. I suppose it doesn't take much talent when overblown hype is already supporting the film. I've honestly never read any books of the so called 'saga' but I gotta give it to Stephanie Meyer, the key details she used to attract readers to her books and the resulting movies was pretty much genius. She created the perfect heroic guys that every young girl dreams of; protecting (I think the term stalker fits him more), completely loyal, and of course, madly in love with the imperfect female character. I probably wouldn't sit through this movie again unless I was forced into it, but if you enjoyed the first movie you'll probably like this one too.
