Mirrors
by MeshMirrors gives me a surprise!
First of all i must say, hands down one of the best horror movie to come out this year and plus a worthy remake!
(It's remake from Korean / Thailand? movie 'Into The Mirror')
Mirrors is eerie, creepy and damn scary!
me for once, never have to close my eyes when watching Horror movie, but for this one, i close my eyes for few times! :P
The set is creepy, music put in right place, shocking scene, made me jump few times, and plus, Gore scene. (Amy Smart is memorable here, no spoilers, watch it for your self!)
Kiefer sutherland, he is decent. though he still can't cry, can he? Paula Patton, just say Boys will have some treat :P.. the rest played good.
The story it self left few plot holes, but no worries if you try not to look for Masterpiece, and which horror movies specially remakes doesn't??!
but overall, Alexandre Aja (with The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension fame), gives me an enjoyable times!
PS: Watch out for the twist, superb!
8/10. (Totally deserve it)Mirror, Mirror on the wall.. Pleasant surprise! :)

Frozen River
by MichaelA gritty independant gem. FROZEN RIVER feels almost like a documentary, with it's shoe-string budget, HD shakey cam photography, and very believeable performances. A gripping story and lush snow-covered locales reminded me a little of Fargo, but there is no dark comedy, or comedy of any kind here! Expect to be saddened and a little depressed, and you may be truely surprised.
Melissa Leo gives easily one of the best performances this year. Lets see if she's remembered come Oscar time. Here's one worth looking for. A great first effort from director Courtney Hunt, featuring one of the year's best performances.

The Game Plan
by MeshDisney produce this? wow, Walt Disney must be rolling in his grave, LOL.
I dont understand how this movie get a green light, it's not a bad movie by any harm, the only problem is the cast!
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is moderate actor, in this movie he become awful!
I cringe every time he tried to be funny and was surprised to see his Crying scene, OMG!
Even that little kid in the movie was annoying, she is cute, ok.. but playing in Disney? she doesn't have any potential at all. the only sole survivor is the story, it's funny and easy to follow, with good plot and direction.
A good past time movie, i enjoyed it, but can be better if they change the cast.
6/10.Hey, you should really see this!

WALL-E
by MeshCan you believe Wall E just release here?
Saw the mid night screening, and agree with you all!
Wall E is a cartoon that provides with brain, smart, heart warming, and very very entertaining plot!
I dont understand how Wall E can be a kid's movie?
it is quiet understand that little children will have difficulty to understand the depth message and value of this BRILLIANT movie! :)
Hands down, best cartoon so far, though it doesn't surpass classic like Finding Nemo or The incredible, but this movie have a soft spot in my heart, sounded childish but i really adore this movie!
Wall E have that magic in first hand, you sympathy the character. Wall E by far is a cute cartoon robot. The background is superb, you feel the loneliness of him, and you feel very very excited and pleased that Wall E meet Eve, or was it just me? :P
i like the contrast between them, their 'weird' love story was really touching, better then any Disney love story.
i dont get how people can say, oh its a love story about two robots, holding hands, etc. i hate it!
i mean dude dont you understand that Wall E is the LAST cleaner robot on Earth!
don't you pity him at all and cheer with him as he find love, and learn how to love?
i dont understand how people can like some cartoon like Ratatouille, which was good IMO, but they prefer mouse then robot! damn!
If this one get all the bang for year best movie, count me in! not a master piece though, and people should stop using that words.
masterpiece is some movie which is old and had gained many cults, this one is new, for time being it is a great loop for animation world, but in next decades to come this is a MASTERPIECE!
10/10. (A total rejoice!)Best of 2008! :)

How to Deal
by MeshIf you like teens series, this one is for you! heck, when i was watching i can't stop thinking this is a teens series wrapped up in one movie!
Based on novel, it gives a decent plot. How people can fear falling in love, sounds weird? i had experienced it (Cliche, i know!) and hell other basic teens tragic!
Mandy Moore, sizzling with that short hair, she acts good, as usual. other blah, ok.
Don't get annoyed of the guy in this movie, not meaning to sound harsh, but i can't stand his long hair.. it makes me wanna scream, 'Cut your fucking hair MORON!'...
am i alone? :P

Becoming Jane
by MeshBecoming Jane. Oh is that movie which told the Great Jane Austen bio?
played by Anne Hathaway?
it must be boring.. wait, wait.. it is NOT!
One movie which im glad i watched it, it unfold the tale of Jane Austen and the difficulty she paid. Romance, old English, prejudice and of course Sexist plays their dice beautifully here.
Oh, and History freaks, tell you what. i DON'T care if this is History incorrect or 'oh, we never know Jane Austen did that?' thing, it is a movie, made for entertainment, and it did entertain me. so case closed! :)
Anne Hathaway, men will i be mad if she don't get notice for fucking Oscar next year. she is great, yes agree she is way too BEAUTIFUL to played Jane Austen (Humbly sorry), but she did GREAT!
she plays with emotion, heart and sincerity. Fans of her should make this a must watch list.
James Mcavoy, ok those Fan girls who watch this movie for him can go to hell. (IMDB makes me sick!). he was good, not great though.
Everyone played amazing, specially Maggie Smith, great Lady!
I felt ashamed and mad at the same time i watched it, you will too. it describe the life of Great Jane Austen beautifully that it drive you mad, how come life is so unfair. poor lady!
Must watch, one of the great movie to come out in 2008.
8/10.Give it a try.

American History X
by MeshWow just wow!
a very nice, touching and bold movie. American history X in my sense have become one of the best racist movie of all time!
The movie will arouse yourself many questions, about the local American or foreigners. whose fault is it?
this movie plays with my emotion a lot. Though at the end i still dont find any answer, and not that satisfied (That's why for the 4 and half star.)
The audience is being asked a question through out the movie, and in my point of view it is of course both party fault, and this racist shit will continue through out our generation or might be history, but this movie beautifully gave us some memorable insight like;
- the scene where the dad speaks about his belief at dinner scenes was very REASONABLE.
see, i dont live in US, so i can't conclude, but me, personally have face prejudice too.
i don't have any harm to Black people, but i think in this movie they have bigger mistake role then those Nazi's shit. dont rise any eye brows first, let me explain:
They (Black) came to US centuries ago, and yes they have exact rights and all. and didn't the American people had tolerate enough for them?
didn't they, the American give rights for them, and still many foreigners misjudge it!
of course not all FOREIGNERS are like that, like in the movie we were shown about the Korean immigrate who opens shop which was previously owned by fellow Americans, boils those Nazi's blood and they role the dice by their manner?
THAT IS WRONG!
But it doesn't mean that the foreigners / immigrates can do whatever shits they want and tell those Americans to swallow it, hey it was and is their land from the beginning, isn't it?
A very strong movie and comes with strong performance too.
Edward norton, this men is GENIUS! People who compare him with other actor in his generation is making a mistake, he is the BEST! Edward furlong plays a great role, role in a life time i can say. very touching character. all plays their role perfect.
Direction was bit long, but the director gives a great conclusion. :)
Powerful, must watch!
9/10.I'm a bit late, but hey check out my review! :)

If Only
by MeshNot a fan of romantic crap movies, but i watch this one cos of JLH. turns out it was pretty good!
Story about a men who take his beautiful gf for granted until he get a dejavu that his gf died in a car crash and leave him miserable. nice plot, but the first half was so dragging, it pick up it's pace afterward.
Love the twist, London as a background landscape, and of course it's message.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, i just simply love her here, and damn men she can act, she act great IMO! :)
Paul Nichols was good, but i find him kinda dull in the first 'crying' scene, nothing much to offer from this British dude side!
Don't take anyone for granted, once they aren't around you'll come to know the pain! Good one!
7/10.One of many movie that proof JLH is a great actress! :)

Scarface
by DanielScarface is another one of those classic movies, like The Godfather, that you have to see.
I'd heard about this movie and had seen the famous black and white poster everywhere for years.
Finally, I decided to buy the DVD and now I understand what all the fuss is about.
The film has a very unique and fantastic crime story with a brilliant character portrayed intensely by Al Pacino.
Being a fan of the Grand Theft Auto video games, I immediately realised where the game developer, Rockstar, got most of their inspiration from for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The style of the game is almost identical to that of Scarface and some of the sets such as the club and the mansion are actually identical to some of the locations in the game. It was like watching a film version of Vice City!
The film has a fairly long running time, but it never feels drawn out. Its great watching the main character go from low level immigrant, to high profile drug lord. The story is told brilliantly by Brian DePalma too.
The script is another element that is also very special. Some of the dialogue between Montana and his friend is just genius.
The only complaint I have with Scarface is that sometimes it's very hard to hear what some of the characters are saying and some scenes did feel a little slow.
However, this never ruins the brilliant style of the film and the fantastic classic finale.
Overall, Scarface is brilliant and you should watch it if you love action, crime and gangster movies. You should also definitely watch it if you were like me and want to know what all the fuss is about. You won't be disappointed!

Saw II
by DanielContinuing my Saw marathon, I review Saw II.
Personally, Saw II was fairly disappointing. I was hoping for a sequel that was just as good, or better, than the original. Instead, it was a bit of a let down due to mediocre characters and typical outrageous violence that you normally see in ordinary hack and slash horrors.
I did, however, like the initial scenario of this group of people stuck in a house and falling for these cruel 'Home Alone' style traps. These were all very clever.
The twist at the end of the movie was also very well done and very clever. I think this element is going to be the strongest part of the Saw franchise for me, and will be the main motive for me to continue watching the remaining 2.
However, these elements can't save Saw II from becoming just another hack and slash horror.
Although my review is fairly negative, it still shouldn't stop you from seeing it as it still provided me with thrills and excitement.
Overall, anyone who enjoyed the first Saw and who enjoy all types of horror/thrillers should see this movie. I don't think you'll be that disappointed...Hey, you might wanna see this!

The Dark Knight
by DanielBelieve the hype... This IS the Movie of 2008. No question about it. Maybe even one of THE best movies of all time. In fact, it's not just the movie of the year, The Dark Knight is now a milestone in cinema history. It will change how future summer blockbusters will be made.
Every Hollywood film maker in the world should now have this mother of a movie in the back of their minds when creating their new movie. Trying to work out what on earth Christopher Nolan did to make not only a fantastic summer blockbuster, but a brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and brilliantly intelligent masterpiece.
With The Dark Knight, it's hard to decide where to begin explaining why it's so amazing and why it's one of the finest films ever made. But, we've got to start somewhere so I'll start with my favourite element of the movie: The Joker.
The Joker is not only now my favourite movie villain of all time, but he's also now one of my favourite movie characters of all time, up there with Arnie's T-800 and Weaving's Agent Smith. The character is all what you would want from a movie villain. He's scary, DISTURBINGLY scary, he's funny, DISTURBINGLY funny, intelligent and very witty. But what is also very intriguing and very important is that he has no motive. He doesn't want money, He doesn't want revenge. All he wants, in the words of Michael Caine, is to "Watch the world burn", and he doesn't care who he hurts or what he does to accomplish his goal.
There's just SO much more to talk about with the Joker, i.e. the make-up, the costume, the dialogue and his memorable scenes that you could fill an entire page with detail, but I need to talk about everything else as well so unfortunately I should move on. One last thing though about the Joker. I think it's a massive shame that the actor portraying the Joker, Heath Ledger, died shortly after filming, because I'm sure he would had had a fantastic career ahead of him and is sure to win Best Actor at the next Oscars.
Lets move on to Batman himself. The character of Bruce Wayne and Batman are pretty much the same as they were in Begins, only they've obviously learnt a lot over the time that has past. With the character of Batman, it's great to see that he's still developing his suit and gadgets and is in progression of fighting crime, not just Batman fighting a super villain over a clean city. His new suit is awesome, his Batmobile looks better than ever and the Batpod is just incredible.
As you may know, The Dark Knight has two villains: Joker and Two-Face.
When I first heard that they were having two villains, I immediately assumed that Two-Face's reveal would be left until the end of the movie and that we would see him as the central villain in the third film, similar to how Begins ended with the Joker card.
How wrong was I! Two-Face, or Harvey Dent, is a very important character throughout the entire film and is portrayed brilliantly by Aaron Eckhart. The face make-up and CGI used to create the 'Two-Face' are phenomenal and the whole use of the two headed coin flipping is brilliant.
It's hard to believe that Tommy Lee Jones played the same character in Batman Forever as Eckhart's portrayal is a massive contrast!
I'm really glad Nolan didn't leave his reveal for the end, as I don't believe the character could match up to the Joker in a third film and don't think he could hold the villain role on his own.
There are so many great and different characters in The Dark Knight it's impossible to go into detail about every one, but here is a quick run down of all the other notable characters.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, who portrays Rachel Dawes, is probably the weakest actress and character in the film. She isn't awful, but compared to the rest of the cast she is the weakest.
Michael Caine gives a great and funny performance again as Alfred, Morgan Freeman does what he does best as Lucius and Gary Oldman returns as Gordon, the only clean cop in Gotham.
There are so many memorable scenes in the film, but a few that are definitely worth mentioning are the opening bank scene, the Batmobile/Batpod chase, Two-face's burn, reveal and coin tossing, every scene involving the Joker (especially the hospital sequence) and the final action sequence.
After seeing a film like this, it's hard to believe that anything I will see now will surpass this. The film has surpassed all expectations and has done what most sequels fail to do frequently: Surpass the original. Not only does it surpass it, but it also introduces an entirely different style of film.
The only thing left to think about now is what is in store for the third in Nolan's Bat Trilogy? What style of film will we see? What new villains will we see? The Riddler? Penguin? Catwoman? One can only speculate for now, but one thing is for sure, and that is that it's going to take something extremely special to surpass a sequel that has been ranked high with classics like The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption.
Overall, The Dark Knight is one of the finest films ever made and do not let any one tell you any different until you have witnessed this masterpiece for yourself at the theatre. A MUST SEE movie for everyone!Hey, you should DEFINITELY see this! The film of 2008!

Saw
by DanielI only ever saw a little bit of this film a few years ago and have wanted to see it in full for a long time. So, I decided to borrow all 4 films to see what all the fuss was about.
This first film is a good and very different type of horror thriller.
The best elements of the movie for me are the scenario, some of the sick games "Jigsaw" creates and the overall twist revealed at the end of the movie. These are all incredibly clever, but incredibly sick! It just makes you wonder what goes through the mind of writer James Wan...
I think this is why the film did so well because it is so different to the ordinary slash horrors such as Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween.
The film could have easily been an instant classic for me if it wasn't for the acting and some of the dialogue written for the 2 main characters in the room. This was quite disappointing.
I was also surprisingly disappointed with Danny Glover! I really liked him in the Lethal Weapon films, but for some reason the character he played here just seemed the same, but only more serious.
Overall, you should definitely watch Saw if your a fan of horror and thriller and definitely watch it if your like me and have been wanting to see the Saw films for a long time. Don't worry, you won't regret it. I hope...Hey, you should really see this!

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)
by MeshWait, this is not X files which we know!
That's the line which will across in X files fans mind the first time they see this!
It's true, it is something different, nothing with alien or supernatural thing!
Chris carter, the creator focus on more left side, something which is not related of supernatural theme!
I'm quiet a fan of the cult classic series, i loved it. i think it gives you something more, more depth to Mulder and Scully. If i'm not mistaken, in the series they both like to argue about their 'believe' system, and this is the answer.
they did believe in the end and that sums up what ever they were doing from the beginning is worth!
The new story it self isn't dull, i can say its a thriller, quite enjoyable! many good shock-time, and Russian doctor theme? well done!
Duchovny is kind of lazy here. i mean he is Mulder yeah ok, but something is lacking from his acting, i dont really can say. but i was surprised to see Gillian Anderson, after what she state in her interview about reprising her Scully role, she done well, enchanting as ever!
and XzibiT??????
DULL! FUCKING DULL!
PS: Though its hard to believe a two head dog story (Which was actually based on TRUE FACT), well that's X files for you! :)

The Other Boleyn Girl
by MeshThe other Boleyn girl is a movie which gives great performance but history incorrect!!
Based on the novel with the same title, it gives us an inside look of two Boleyn girl tale to snatch up the kingdom and King Henry. Sex, betrayal and lust is all the main theme here.
why misleading?
i did some research and quiet surprised to see that the movie doesn't cover the story of Mary french visit.
I who was blank of this story was left wondering when i watched it, i mean why Marry is a whore? oh, the director forget to include Mary's French visit which actually makes her a whore in the first place and gives her a bad reputation! or the unnecessary 'rape' scenes, etc. but it still manage to give a great history film!
Natalie Portman did justice to the character of Anne Boleyn, she is witty, cunning and a total goddess!
i dont say she deserve an Oscar worthy, but to gives her a nominations is a must!
Scarlett johansson is flawless!
i never think she could pull off a great Mary's role!
Though as we know Mary is kinda Bitch in the real life, but in this adaption Mary is soft, delicate and kind which make the decision to cast Scarlett is a great idea.
Erica bana well, nothing much!
Not that dragging, but of course if you find Epic movie theme boring, you'll suffer!
i like the movie pace, it doesnt offer to be mysterious, or complicated. it present it self clear and easy to be understood. (Many epic movie try to be smart, but end up making the audience headache! like Troy, any one?)
Give it a try!

by MeshCaffeine is a movie which you think you know how it goes, but still watch it!
It doesn't offer much, same old story lines, funny dialogue, unnecessary scenes.
Centers around cafe in London, it tells us the story of the people inside the cafe. it might be the worker, owner or customers.
it holds right up to it, i dont find anything 'boring' or dragging, yeah some unnecessary scenes, but it wrapped up good. it's an independent movie which offer big names such as, Mena suvari, Breckin meyer and Katherine heigel (Don't see the movie just to see her, she had a very minor role. wonder why she signed this?!)
overall give it a try, for a lazy day!
