After renting this twice in the past, I finally watched this movie. It's done really well, I love the shots in the beginning when they're riding in the cab. It always astonishes me how people drive in different countries. Anyway, it kinda loses steam in the end and there were some scenes I didn't care for, but those scenes were done really well. I'm definitely going to check out Agnes Varda's other works.
Wow, biggest surprise this week. This is a very low key dramady done extremely well. Performances all around is excellent. This movie just resonates with me and I felt very involved and moved right up to the very end. Ryan Gosling's performance should've been nominated, it's better than Half Nelson... by a mile.
A huge disappointment. I really didn't want to rate this movie so low, especially since I love Flight of the Conchords. It's your typical hip indie flick. Short curt dialogue, cute shots, Gondry-esque stop motion animation sequences, non stop indie music. The actors are fine, they just didn't have much to work with. There were a few giggles, but overall the movie seemed to lack substance.
The dance sequences were fine and all, but I still get this whole vibe from the movie that it's just CORNY and embarassing for the hip hop community. I hope Planet B-Boy is a better experience. I liked the first one better.
