Psycho

Wow...a film so damn close to perfection...wait let me reword that...this film is perfect in every single way. I know im a bit slow as i saw it for the first time yesterday. If u want a run-of-the-mill, generic horror movie..dont watch this. I have been thinking about it since last night and i couldnt sleep (which believe me is a BIG thing :D) and it really does make u think about the human mind and what difficult circumstances in childhood can do to a person. Norman Bates seemed so unbelievably nice..the type of guy i would love to make friends with. Although I knew who the killer was before i saw the film, it didnt spoil it for me at all. The film starts amazingle..and gets better as time progresses. At first i thought, what happens during the rest of the film if Marion Crane dies an hour through? Well...i have to tell u it was so engrossing i couldnt sit on my chair properly. I watched the film with my dad..who tried to lead me off the track..but still i got there in the end. The plot summary given on this website really sums Psycho up. I didnt realise htis film was going to be this good! It combines all my favourite genres (horror, thriller, murder mystery) without being too complicated or unfeasible. Anthony Perkins' performance amazes me. Its true, u really dont see acting of this standard present nowadays. I know i will watch this film again and again and still eb completely anjd utterly transfixed, and each time i will be mindboggled by his amazing acting. We all know it wasnt a fluke, he genuinely creeped me out, especially in the ending scenes with Vera Miles. Well i cant even begin to sum up how good this film is in a little comment like this. But this film is truly the best i have ever seen, Black and white makes it a better experience and i kinda miss black and white films, they add a whole new perspective and if Psycho was filmed in colour then it wouldnt be half as good. Hitchcocks flawless direction, meticulous sense of detail and shadow brought this film to a whole new dimension... Watch it....and even if u have already..Watch it again...its THAT good =D

Charade

another 5 star film from Cary Grant...and this one has audrey hepburn in it as well..so i always knew it was going to be good. Cary Grant is as suave as ever, and comparing to "The Truth About Charlie" the original is far better. I urge you to see it!

American Psycho

this film amazed me..i would recommend it to anyone! and for all you girls out there....Christian Bale is SMOKING! its weird that i was still attracted to him even though he was a completely psychotic loon...but my that body! yeesh! how come i didnt see that in Batman Begins? =S confusing..anyway..this film, quite literally blew me away..and if u havent seen it yet...i suggest u get ur arse down to Blockbuster (or even better HMV) and grab a copy of it straight away This is a film not to be missed!

December Boys
by BannanOkay, I know what you're thinking 'What the hell is Harry Potter doing in the outback??" But seriously, you guys should give this a chance...I know not everyone would prefer such a film...but I really really really liked it.
Yip, JBitBop...another aussie film that gets a shining gold start from moi. ;]
Some background, perhaps?
This is the story of Maps, Spit, Spark and Misty...four orphans who all happen to have been born in December. Because of this very fact is the basis of their friendship, all of them living in a catholic convent in the outback in about the 60s.
They watch as other little boys get happily adopted into families, and silent seethe with jealousy...knowing deep within themselves that it'll never be them smiling with two new parents. Since it is their birthday, and the convent seemed to have set aside some money to take the boys on a holiday to LadyStar Cove.
After a long road across the arid scenery, they finally get to the sea where they are welcomed by an older couple named Bandy and Skipper. While there, they swim, splash about, climb over the rocks and simply have a good time.
When passing by towards the cove they come across a fair where the 'Fearless Forte' jumps his motorcycle through hoops of fire and death-defying stunts. Being in total awe of this, he discovers that this fearless biker lives just next door to the place they're staying. And meet the couple who are unable to have children, learning that they are looking into adopting one of the four as their own when their holiday draws to a close.
Maps, being the oldest, doesn't seem to worry much about being adopted and instead sets his eyes upon a girl named Lucy.
While the other three compete to show who would be the most likely candidate for adoption. Things happen that test their friendships and then the feelings of rejection seem to drive a bit of a rift between them.
Eventually, these ties become stronger what with the various events that happen in the cove...where they learn what being a December Boy is really about.
The scenery in this simply stunned me, it was vibrant and lively...drawing one further into this endearing story of a bamd of orphans. The acting in here was quite decent, as each Boy portrayed what their names meant behind their titles.
To be honest, the story sort of reminded me of Les Choristes...so therefore anyone who enjoyed that type of story...would enjoy this as well.
Good news avid bookfiends! It's a novel by Michael Noonan...which I have already added to my list as well.
:]Not for all, but watch as the ties of four orphans are tested when various events come up when on holiday from the outback.
What exactly...is the meaning behind being a 'December Boy' anyways?
If not, how the hell are all of you?!

Hancock
by KhrisNot Will Smith's best movie, but its not really him, its just the fact that was an easy going, enjoyable flick to watch over and over again. XD!!
A real twist of the superhero movie, with some twist and turns, and some great lines and its funny enough... its a good night out, and something people would love to watch. I guess Will Smith and Charlize are the kind of actors people love to watch on screen, they make it look so easy and they are comfortable, which is why the movie pulls it off so well.
Anyways, not much detail for review needed here, its a simple movie to watch, great performances, good jokes and moments, and something out of the ordinary. Which is something I guess all of us would like to see more of these days in the movies.
A real unique movie.Hey, you should really see this!

The Bank Job
by KhrisAn interesting piece of film-making... which is pretty entertaining. Once you get past the sleazy and shameless sex, you would realise that it actually made some sense as to the WHY. Based on a true story of sorts, its an interesting take on the Baker Street Bank Robbery which caused a sensation and had Parliment and MI5 going nuts.
Jason Statham goes back home and back in time to 1971 as a small time criminal who tried to hit the big time by robbing Lloyd's Bank and hits big trouble in the form of government scandals, corruption and just about everyone from the MI5 to a local porn king/gangster AND a psychotic Rasta drug dealer out to nail him and his crew.
I guess the great thing about this movie was the authenticity. 1971 London does come alive, and its not something we see often in movies these days, seeing a world city in a different time, not so far back as to call it ancient history, but more so enough to appreciate what its like and how everything has changed radically, from cars to technology to clothing and styles and lifestyle.
You have to appreciate the story and the tension which the crew go through. This is one of Statham's better movies, and the rest of the cast are..... British. XD
Yeah its the same ole thing for all you guys who don't understand a world of the British language. If you could get past the language or are familiar with it (like me) then you can follow the movie quite easily. Which is something else which I liked about it. Its not meant to be an all out twister, a movie trying to out do itself and others of higher grade, but a simple reworking of an event brought to the big screen with a few thrills along the way. In the tradition of movies such as The Italian Job, The Score and other tales of thieves, this would have to be on of the better flicks to watch.Hey, you should really see this!

The Dark Knight
by ShondaOK, ill put my two cent in. First let me say Nolan really did an excellent job of making batman what he really is... a man. If you've seen the movie you know what I mean. This is not the run of the mill comic/superhero film. If your expecting to see good guy vs bad guy, good guy wins you may be in for a few suprises. Even though Ledgers performance was phenomenal, oscar worthy even, I think his death has overshadowed the fact that Bale, Freeman, Oldman, and Caine are in this movie(who in my opinion arent capable of bad performances). Eckhart not to shabby either and they replace Holmes with someone who actually has talent. Long story short without spoiling anything, go check it out if you are one of the 2 people on the planet who hasnt yet.

I recommend you see...Though I do think this was a great movie... this message is more of a goodbye to everyone. My time on Flix has pretty much ran its course...so by time you read this my account should already be deleted.
Nobody has ran me off the site or anything like that I'm just not as active on it anymore and just feel that its what needs to be done. Most of you can still reach me on Facebook, Myspace, MSN, Yahoo and if you dont have the info get with one of the regs in the chat and they can pass the message on to me...
I love you all in your own unique (and sometimes eerily twisted) ways and will really miss you. If it gets really bad then I'll come back and make another account lol

True Romance
by IainAnother great film penned by Tarantino, this tells the story of a escort girl Alabama and comic book store worker Clarence (Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater) who find true love in each other after she is set up with him by a friend of his. Deciding to flee after Clarence has a run in with one Alabama's pimp Drexl Spivey (Gary Oldman), they take a suitcase with half a million dollars worth of raw, uncut cocaine with them to Los Angeles to try and sell it, despite having a mob from Detroit (led by Christopher Walken) as well as the LAPD on their tails. They find Clarence's friend Dick (Michael Rapaport) who helps them find a buyer for their cocaine through a friend high up in the movie industry.
A huge cast and Tarantino's story makes it another modern classic. This was shown as part 2 of a Quentin Tarantino written double bill, and was definitely the better of the 2 movies.
Despite most of the big-named cast having very little time in this movie (Gary Oldman only having 2 scenes in the entire movie, Samuel L Jackson on screen for 2 minutes tops, Christopher Walken having one scene in the movie etc.), it's still a definite must-see movie.posted 15 days ago -
Come see this movie with me...
Natural Born Killers
by IainAn ultra-violent modern classic, it goes all out with the bloodshed, especially in telling the backstories of the two main characters who, despite being evil personified, we're made to feel sympathy for in the second half of the movie after spending the first half murdering everyone who gets in their way. When in prison for most of the second half of the movie, the TV media glorifying their brutal mudering spree are shown as the real villains of the story as they look for ratings, little knowing that the situation will turn against them when taking their endorsement of the killers one step further.
I saw this as part 1 of a Quentin Tarantino written double bill, and I'd highly recommend it, despite being the weaker of the two moviesshown that night.
A fantastic cast, including Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as the fictional Bonnie and Clyde of the story help keep the viewers watching the movie. Tommy Lee Jones makes the most of what little time he has on screen and Robert Downey Jr's at his best. Be warned though, it's for people with strong stomachs only, and definitely not something you should see while drunk/stoned/tripping.posted 15 days ago -

Rise of the Footsoldier
by KhrisYeaaahhhh. A good ole brutal, bloody, shameless (on all levels) Brit gangster movie.
Which also happens to be the a real good authentic biography of one of Englands most brutal and toughest criminals, Carlton Leach. Hell YEAH!
This follows the the beginning of Leach's criminal career, starting as a football hooligan with the Inter City Firm (West Ham FC... Green Street anyone?) to Carlton running his own firm in the 80's as protection and enforcement, and the early 90's events leading to the infamous Rettendon Murders in 1995, the victims being some of Leach's associates.
There is some real gangster history in this, and t does make Green Street Hooligans and others such as Goodfellas look kinda tame when it comes to violence. Its good ole fashioned english brutality at its best, from bats and bricks and guns and fists.
You would probably need subtitles if you have trouble deciphering the Brit speak. And of course, get ready to meet some of the most colorful, as well as craziest thugs ever seen in the movies. Which happened to be based on real people.
I still couldnt believe how the characters [protrayed in this flick represented real people... the movie was based on Carlton Leach's bio.
Its got some real graphic scenes... especially when the guns go off on the Rettendon murder scenes.
O__O! (im serious, its brutal as - you actual see some good rendition of faces in the aftermath of meeting a 12 guage at point blank.)
There is some lessons to be learned here. Carlton's narrative isstraightforward and to the point. The scenes are good and explicit though, and of course, since based on true events, its got some actual news clips and such in the movie.
Anyways, if you love the gangster, the blood, the guts and the swearing and the sex, yeah you in for a good night.Blood, guts, sex and swearing.
Yah, I know theres a few horny guys or people who love the blood, so watch it!

by KhrisYeah!! I love gambling. I love cards.
I love knowing how to rort the system. XD!!
(hey whats ive been learning for the last six years...)
Anyways, whats not to like about this movie? Smart, edgy, cool and the action is in Vegas. That automatically gives it 3 stars. XD!!
What gives it the extra star?? Well, a good cast with some admirable names like Spacey and Fishburne. A good story with a nice twist in the works.
Well... unless you like movies like the Ocean's series, you wont like this. Those with a high morale who avoid the great, addictive and absolutely fun VICE of gambling would love it.
Honestly, its not that hard to count cards. The system in the movie is tough because its a freelance system, which is supposed to reduce the risks of getting caught. But hey, go online and play some blackjack, learn how to count and see for yourself, it really does work!
(and who says movies don't teach us anything???? ;-))I love to gamble with cards. You all should do so, it heaps fun!
