I'm pretty opinionated... So sometimes there are movies that I will rate bad, but they're not that horrible. And sometimes I will rate movies that are seemingly ok as great movies. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I Know Who Killed Me
R
Ya know, the plot really isn't half bad... I kept guessing who the killer was all the way till the end. Ok, enough with the positives....
This movie really is utter crap. The acting was about as atrocious as I have ever seen in a wide release movie. Not one actor was convincing, especially Lindsay Lohan. Why is she so popular again? Her acting was soooo bad in this movie... words cannot even describe it!
The style in which it was shot was horrible, and what about that music?? I felt like I was watching a cheesy 70's horror flick. God, it was so bad!
The movie attempted to make a resemblance to the Sixth Sense's deep meaning behind the color red by throwing this blue rose every where (as you can see from the poster)... but then it just never became relevant. Or maybe I missed the meaning, but this movie doesn't have the slightest bit of intelligence, so I imagine this attempt at being relevant is completely worthless.
I could say so much more about how bad this is. Even the ending was pretty bad... the motivation for the killings was never explained, and if this was the guys 2nd killing, why did he have 20+ limbs hanging from his ceiling? Geez... it's so bad on so many different levels. Worst movie of 2007... a strong argument could be made for worst movie in the 21st century.

Hands down, this is one of the best all around movies I have ever seen. I understand from Oscars stand-point that my previous statement is a joke, but c'mon.... I saw this 4 times in theaters because it absolutely blew me away. Maybe it's because I had no expectations for it going into itThis film has a very Quentin Tarantino-esque feel to it. It has everything: guns, girls, action, short and witty comedy, good dialog, mobsters, gangsters, hitmen, mystery, suspense, twists, Jewish people, EVERYTHING!
Great performances from Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, and Ben Kinsley... I'm not a fan of Josh Hartnett or Lucy Liu, but they both put in pretty good performances. Liu's spunky attitude was contagious and cute to watch.
There's not much I can say about the plot without giving anything away. But do yourself a favor and watch it. A 2nd viewing might be necessary. Every time I watch it (which has been over 10 times now) I swear I find out something new.
This is a very slick, cool, and edgy film with great quotes and tons of great action..... A future cult classic... A MUST SEE!
Maverick
PG
Saw this movie in theaters on my first ever date... in 7th grade. Looking back on it, it's a bit of a weird choice. I saw it again more recently and loved it.
I wouldn't call it a Western... it's more of an action comedy with a bit of romance. All the performances were pretty good... nothing career making. I don't know why, but I found Jodie Foster to be amazing.
This movie has many twists at every turn which makes it fun and intriguing. It has gun battles, and for us gambling kinda guys, there is a lot of poker playing. The poker tournament is fun to watch, but the final hand is very eccentric and unlikely... I hate it when Hollywood does that.
Overall, great movie definitely worth a watchl

A lengthy title like this generally suggests it's a comedy that is trying too hard... but the trailer made it appear fun. It warrants a view....

This movie looks amazing... especially for those who were fans of 3:10 to Yuma last year. It looks a little more edgy, maybe like a new-age Western.
Ed Harris and Viggo were great together in A History of Violence. Can't wait....
High Tension (Switchblade Romance)
R
This movie is a bloody piece of crap!
First I'm going to justify the 1.5 stars.. the gore. Loads and loads of blood and mayhem. It is well done... very suspenseful and visually stunning.
Ok, lets forget about my morbid satisfaction in gory films.... This is an awful mess of a film. This movie primarily only builds suspense off the music and a semi-effective use of lighting. But it constantly switches between English and then French and then subtitled French, it was very irritating. Choosing one language and sticking with it would've made it seem more organized.
SPOILER ALERT! ... ok, I'm tired of this "twist"... she's the killer??? A damn schizo... AGAIN!!! I've seen this many times already. Where others mildly succeed, this one fails miserably because of huge plot holes. This twist completely betrays and contradicts everything that made up the first 3/4 of the movie. Some events are unexplainable due to this twist... the lack of clarity makes this movie (and its director) look stupid.
Unless you love sick, sadistic and over-the-top gory films, then throw back a few beers and watch this film without caring about what's really going on. You won't be disappointed because just about every scene is filled with gallons of blood.

The Dark Knight
PG-13
Christopher Nolan continues the new dark Batman saga with one of the best all around movies I have ever seen. Everything about this movie was flawless: acting, directing, music, cinematography, camera angles, everything. Nolan perfectly blended light hearted humor with suspense and action. It scared you, may have even traumatized some... it toyed with your emotions, made you question your morals. This movie made you think! I have never, and probably will never, see a comic book movie that brought so much character emotions to the forefront as the Dark Knight did.Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker makes me forget all about the iconic Jack Nicholson version. It's no contest really... Ledger's portrayal is probably my all time favorite movie character. He literally stole every scene he was in... he was crazy!
Overshadowed by Ledger was a brilliant performance by Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent aka Two Face. Christian Bale and the others did a great job, but Eckhart and Ledger really stole the show.
I can't say enough good things about this movie, it's one you have to see for yourself.

When the trailers appeared for this movie I thought for sure that this was going to be over-the-top. Some people still think it was, but I think the exact opposite. It was completely original... one of the most inspiring movies I've ever seen. The movie was well acted from top to bottom, especially Gerard Butler. The CGI was visually amazing, and the fight scenes were incredible. I loved how it shifted from normal speed, to slow motion. Frank Miller's vision and style is extremely impressive and completely original. It was perfect... epic epic epic
My only complaint was that it dragged a little when Leonidis sought advice on that mountain... but whatever, it was a great movie. It is also extremely graphic... tons of blood, so be prepared if that makes you a little queezy. I can't say enough good things about this film.
Guys will be an awe of it's pure bad ass nature, and girls will be in awe of the awesome bodies of the Spartans.

The Matrix
R
This by far is one of the best movies of all time. It's completely original and ground breaking. The effects of this movie (nearly 10yrs later) have continued to ripple through time. For example, my last name is Anderson and every time I meet someone they smirk at me and chime in with: "Misterrrrrr Anderson..." Geez, but I don't mind really. Hell, this movie even made computer geeks and trench coats cool! The Matrix, my friends, is cinema at its absolute greatest. It paved the way for a whole new genre of movies. #1 cult classic of all time. If you haven't seen this movie yet, then you have deprived yourself of one of the greatest experiences in cinema today.

Lindsay is hot, talented. Chris pine is bleh, never like him.
Mcfly was ok. Some funny scene, but at the end it makes me depressed. so they will stay bad luck, ya they have each other but what's the point? they will stay poor forever? i know its only a movie for entertainment, but it doesn't entertain me at all.
Better Don't watch it!

Peeping Tom
by MarkUnsettling classic horror film is disturbing study of a serial killer who is compelled to film his victims. So reviled upon its release in 1960, it essentially ended director Michael Powell's career. Even today, the movie's attempt to understand, even sympathize, with a sociopath still resonates shock. Creepy.
May be tame compared to today's standards, it's easy to see why this film caused such an uproar in 1960. Creepy!

Enter the Dragon
by KateWhen martial artist Lee is recruited as an under-cover agent at an invitation only martial arts tournament on a private island, he manages to keep a low profile whilst trying to find evidence that the tournaments master, Han, is in fact a criminal and a drug lord. When his true identity becomes apparent however, a huge martial arts battle ensues on the private island, making for some truly super fight-sequences and electrifying one-on-one battles. The last film that Bruce Lee made before his untimely death, 'Enter The Dragon' is a fast, furious thrill-ride that combines both a credible plot and adrenaline-fuelled fight sequences; making it a hugely satisfying picture to watch. It may seem a little dated to some, but the stunts and energy of the film will remain timeless due to some truly excellent execution from director Robert Clouse. His creative use of colour, shot and score create a perfect back-drop for Bruce Lee's impeccable fighting skills. Whenever he is in shot, Lee dominates the screen and has an amazing presence and charisma. They actually had to slow some of Lee's fight footage down because he was just to fast for the camera; if that's not incentive to see the film then what is? 'Enter the Dragon' is a decent martial arts flick that will impress its intended audience and remain a classic for years to come. Excellent.

Blood Diamond
by GregoriusT.I.A. This is Africa. And from Africa comes a perfect scenery for a movie, Blood Diamond. Set in Sierra Leone, this movie just got me.
Well, I can't say much for my review's opening, but I just wanna say that the cast of this movie simply a good one. Picking Leo as the main cast? Such a brilliant choice! His performance wasn't outstanding but still a very good one from Leo. He used different accent which was so cool. Djimon Honsou, this African-born actor simply caught me in the eyes. For him, his performance simply outstanding! Next is Jeniffer Conelly. Well, to be honest her performance is an adequate to be Leo's love interest in this movie. Arnold Veloso as one of the bad guy or the antagonist I might say, well just an average acting performance from our "Mummy".
Enough for the cast, now we're going to travel to the land of the plot, score, etc. Right, the plot of this story is a good one, but still not enough to make this movie a masterpiece. Well, a something shocked me at the end of the story, for I was hoping for a "Perfect-Happy Ending". But that's good.
For the score, I would say that it was a good one (three out of five). And almost forget about the set and the effect. Setting a movie in Africa always provide us with a beautiful scenery and for the special effect, it was a good one, for the producer could make a good gun fight in this movie. One last thing, this movie has lots of good quotes and it was unexpected (for me). Well, I guess that's enough.
Alright, this is the end of my review. To conclude this movie, Leo (and Honsou) really done well to raise this movie up. Good performance from 'em. To end it, I just wanna say one of the best quotes of the movie. The Third World is not a world apart and the witness you will hear today speaks on its behalf. Let us hear the voice of that world. Let us learn from that voice, and let us ignore it no more.Aha, another good movie.
It's good to see Leo's great acting again.
Honsou also caught me in the eyes.

WTC View
by BrianNormally I'd be the last person who wanted to see ANOTHER movie about 9/11, mostly because I think movies like United 93 and World Trade Center, while they some good points, deep down (or sometimes just under the surface) are all about exploitation.
WTC VIEW is different. It's all about one man (Michael Urie, Mark from Ugly Betty) trying to find a roomate in the days and weeks after 9/11. The whole film takes place within his apartment, and starts AFTER 9/11. You never see The World Trade Center, or scenes of the aftermatgh, etc.
It's all about him coming to terms with what he experienced and his loss.
And you won;t be dissapointed by the ending.Hey, you should really see this!

No Country for Old Men
by MeshNo country for old men, a movie which makes me believe that critics and all the media hype isn't bullshit!!
First of all, this movie is long but be patient. The screenplay is amazing, brilliant plot, sometimes amusing and sometimes scary dialogue. Plot is alright, but what conclusion it gives is extra- ordinary!
In my view, this movie centers around Tommy Lee Jones character, Sheriff Bell.
His narration is intriguing as at the end we realize that all what we witness is actually fact and is happening everywhere. It's a fear of choosing right or wrong, and it's disappointment of an old men to witness a changing era, a dark era!
Still remember, when Bell meet his colleague and he said 'It's all about Money and Drugs..' - That indicate Brolin character, he is a young men lure by the lust of money, and end up dead = suffering.
And, Anton (Bardem) character indicates the madness of the new era.
Of course, my opinion is not correct but this is what this Beautiful movie gives, at the end the viewers will be ask questions about what they just saw, and that can lead to many interpretation.
Performance:
Javier Bardem is damn scary yet his dialogue is amusing, weird contradiction for a movie character. The Shop Scene was hilarious , when he ask the clerk about which side of coin he is gonna choose.. overall, he deserve the Oscar!
Josh brolin try and succeed to give a memorable performance and so does, TLJ.
Direction;
See, this is my first Coen brothers movie , so starting from this point of time, I WILL hunt their previous movies down and gladly say that they are the best directors working now.
The movie length doesn't really bother me, as it's intense and cool. I love how there is no background music, it give the real essence.
Great one!
Overall, a great movie that leads you to think more after you finish, what the movie mean? is it about TLJ fear of choosing right or wrong, or is it about Old men fear of Growing Old. i don't need the answer, as it's ALWAYS left open.

I recommend you see...Firstly, yea this is a recommendation for Blue, or any other Kieslowski work for that matter, which brings me to the point.
I've been back and forth with some of the people who run flixster who say they will not add the Decalogue to their list of films because their sources classify it is a television show.
If you've seen the Decalogue, or know anything about it, you know that yes it was broadcast on polish television in ten episodes akin to a mini-series of sorts. However, you also know that it was intended as one overarching project, not a television show. The Decalogue IS a film, its a film in ten parts. It's also one of the greatest works of film art ever created. It is a travesty that they will not add this masterpiece to the list of films on here.
Flixster is a great place to share films, and anyone who loves film, has a mild interest in it, or even just happens to be alive and privy to a television set should see it. Please write the folks here to get this masterpiece addedposted 1 day ago
