Star Wars Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back is a sweeping and exciting chapter. When the rebel army base is discovered in a secluded planet, the empire launches an attack. This forces the rebel leaders to evacuate and head for different locations. Luke Skywalker travels to seek an exiled Jedi master. And the mercenary, rebel princess, and two droids speed off into space to evade the empires fleet. But as their ship encounters technical difficulties, they are eventually apprehended at a hidden city. As a result, Luke embarks on a rescue mission and comes upon a startling revelation. The plot is absorbing and more emotional. Almost every event is interesting if not entertaining. And the settings are vast. Aside from outer space, we see snowy plains, swamp lands, and a breathtaking city in the clouds. The cast continue to elevate the story with their great energetic performances and chemistry. That said, Episode Five is not only fun, but also an outstanding Sci-Fi classic.
Star Wars Episode 4- A New Hope is a fun and thrilling sci-fi adventure. In this story, the republic no longer exists and the Galaxy is ruled by an evil empire. When the emperor orders the construction of a dangerous battle station, the technical readouts are stolen by a rebel princess. As a result, she is captured by the emperor's right hand man, known as Darth Vader. This impels an exiled Jedi to come to her aid. In the process, he is helped by a young farmer, a mercenary, and two droids. The film is entertaining because of the plot, the characters, and the special effects. The story line is suspenseful because the rebel army is vulnerable. Unlike the previous episodes, there is no Jedi council or clone army to help. The characters are enjoyable and have great chemistry. There are memorable performances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrsion Ford, and Alec Guiness. And the special effects are noteworthy considering it doesn't use much computer graphic imagery.
Terminator 2-Judgement Day is the definitive action blockbuster.
. It has been years and John Connor is now a teenager. He is being targeted by a Terminator-a more deadly and resilient model T 1000. However in an unexpected event, another Terminator, of the older prototype, is sent to protect him. And during which, Johns mother is in a mental institution. The film is excellent in many ways. For one, the action sequences are first rate. Then, there are touching relationships in the story particularly between the Terminator and John Connor. That said, the film is surprisingly heart -warming. But the story also makes a statement against scientific research in weapon products. There are many references to Armageddon and the end of mankind. Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his role as a Terminator. But in a surprising twist, he is the protector and is given more character with an assortment of one liners such as "chill out", "ill be back", and "why do you cry"? There is a saying that in every great action movie, there is a great villain. Well without giving away too much, the T 1000 is made up of mercury, enabling him to morph into any object of equal size. Imagine the possibilities. Robert Patrick, who was an unknown actor at the time, plays this part effectively. Though he is much smaller than Arnold, he carries the aura of a dangerous mystique; both efficient and calculating. A meaner and macho Linda Hamilton returns as the mother of John Connor. And Edward Furlong makes his impressive film debut as the young John. Movie sequels tend to top its original in terms of explosions. This one topped it several times and blew the roof off. The action scenes are thrilling and spectacular. All the vehicular stunts are real .A lot of metal is bent or smashed. In one scene, a motorcycle flies into a helicopter. In another, a semi-trailer flies off a bridge and into a narrow ditch. There is also a scene of a nuclear blast that incinerates a metropolis. The Computer Graphic Imagery techinque used for the T1000 is groundbreaking. Nowadays, we see it used in almost every other action film. I can go on forever about "Terminator 2". It's a well paced roller coaster that never undermines its tone, plot, and characters. It is a quintessential model of movie escapism
Batman Begins is an exhilarating and uplifting film about the origin of a superhero. The first half takes us into Bruce Wayne's past- his childhood, adolescence, imprisonment, combat training , and transformation into a caped crusader. The second half involves his efforts in battling a crime lord. There are many great scenes. In one, we see him climbing snowy mountains in search for his mentor. In another, he is training with Ninjas in a dojo. But there are also touching moments between the young Wayne and his father. This is an inspired story with a heart.Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne with conviction. The rest of the cast include veterans like Gary Oldman, Morgan Feeman, and Michael Caine. A cast like this can only do justice to their roles. British director Christopher Nolan teams up with writer David Goyer to redefine the Batman legend. The approach is darker, serious, and realistic. This is the rebirth of a franchise. But it is also the revival of character development in a superhero movie.
