October 18, 2008Decent prequel is loaded with demonic possesion and incest. This is a pretty damn sleazy film thats pretty much over looked in the genre. Burt Young is a slimeball who beats up his family. The possesion makeup is pretty top notch stuff. This film is actually better than the original in alot of ways. The dialogue is laughable at times and the acting from some of the players are something to be desired...but what the fuck are you expecting in a film like this, Marlon Brando or Robert Mitchum. Get fucking real...this is Amityville II for christ sakes! And its pretty damn effective! Creepy and sleazy, the way i like 'em.

October 17, 2008Provides some back story to the first, but focuses more on a very broken family and somehow, the house amplifies it. The last 40 minutes focus on the priest trying to exorcise Sonny (who killed his family) and the movie heavily borrows from 'The Exorcist' in how the demonic possession appears and is conveyed. A decent flick for the season (it is October now) but probably best saved for a channel surfing find or a background flick while working on a knitting project (like myself).
-
October 14, 2008not as effective as the first one but has its moments
some of the shots seemed borrowed straight from "evil dead" -
August 6, 2008the only amityville movie i have ever seen is the one with hottie ryan, i cant think of his last name but he was engaged or alanis morriset that is the only amityville movie i have ever seen and that was FREAKY, this movie was ridiculous and stupid. i would never watch this movie or recommend it to anyone again.

-
May 24, 2008A truly chilling creep fest of a movie. This one sends chills down my spine. Way more frightening then the original Amityville! Watch this one alone in the dark.
Highly Recommended! -
March 14, 2008This movie was awesome! It was much scarier than the original and messed with your mind so much more. This is a great horror flick. The only let down was the ending when it got a little to exorcist. A great movie for the horror fan.
-
February 22, 2008Not as good as the classic first one, but better than the other sequels in this series! The first one is the best by far though.
-
January 20, 2008I baught The original Amityville Horror, and Possession came with it, I don't know if I'll ever get around to it.
-
January 1, 2008Oh, my was this bad. The original was pretty good, but this was just...lame. I meant he scene where the sister is about to show her brother her boobs!? It wasn't even enjoyable to laugh at. Just terrible.
-
November 5, 2007this is my favourite i like the son getting haunted i didn't sleep for a week after watching this when i was a kid
-
October 3, 2007I remember really liking this as a kid and finding it quite scary and disturbing. I should really rewatch this one.
-
September 21, 2007THIS MOVIE SCARED ME TO DEATH ! I THINK IT'S THE NEXT BEST MOVIE TO THE EXORCIST WITH ALL THE POSSESSION SCENES.
-
August 8, 2007This movie shows promise in the beginning Then falls flat. "Based on fact" this deviates far from fact. Much of the violence is muted which is indicitive of the time; at least films that wanted to be taken seriously. Which leaves this film in limbo. Whoa, is that incest? Where did that come from?ugh. The ending makes up for the banalitly that proceeded, but you can't help but think the Exorcist did a much better job.
-
June 25, 2007lovedthis movie, was on the edge of my heat the whole time, great story line, plenty to think aobut, overall great
-
June 14, 2007dumb, old, unrealistic death, and what the hell is up with a brother and sister fucking..it's just not right! and i also didn't really follow half of it. it was fucking retarded
-
June 13, 2007Disturbing part between the eldest brother and one of the sisters. Did that really happen? Um...eww!!
-
June 7, 2007My siblings and I were on pins and needles when our parents sat us down and let us watch this. Check your siblings is all I have to say.
-
June 5, 2007A decent sequel/prequel. I would've moved out of the house at the first sign of a swarm of bees appearing on the window and then suddenly disappearing.
-
April 29, 2007thought this was a great demon possesion movie, kinda hard to find a good one after the exorcist even in todays standards
-
April 27, 2007Very surprised that I actually liked it. Not great, but worth checking out if you like the first one.
-
April 15, 2007I need to see the original first one, but I loved this sequel. That was so gross the way the siblings acted with each other.
-
March 28, 2007Tells the tale of the real life murders (names changed) that supposedly left the house at 112 Ocean Avenue haunted.
-
March 11, 2007"Amityville II: The Possession" is a classic 1982 film, a prequel the the classic 1979 film. The Montelli family move into their dream home and things change, their oldest son, Sonny, is possessed by the evil spirit in the house and causes him to murder his family. A priest, who knows the family from their church, takes it apon himself to free Sonny from the demon. A great cast and great story.
-
March 10, 2007I'm not particularly fond of horror movies. This one has everything i hate about them. Most of the time the are very predictable. This one ticked that box. I know that it is based on a true story but this is just way too unbelievable. Didn't do the true story justice at all.
-
February 26, 2007The beginning of this movie is great for 'jump' factor...the story line begins to taper off in the middle of the movie though...
-
February 13, 2007THIS MOVIE IS BASED ON THE TRUE STORY OF THE DEFEO FAMILY BUT THE NAME OF THE FAMILY IS DIFFERENT IN THIS VERY SCARY MOVIE
-

-
October 30, 2006Very Bad sequel with no frights, not even any plotline to follow. Unbelieveably bad! Not that the Original wasn't bad though!
-
October 22, 2006Not bad movie, better then the first movie of 1979-Kinda scary in this movie,my hands are in my eyes ao I must like it.
-
October 14, 2006Prequal to The Amityville Horror but it is not the same family that the first one discribed. Lousy acting and a sick, dumb script.
-
September 30, 2006a truth stretched prequel to the amityville horror. based on real events that led to the DeFeo muders but jucied up for the big screen. still a really fun movie
-
September 17, 2006I watched it without having seen that first one or reading the back of the DVD case (which ruins every plot twist in the film) and it scared the fuckin' pants off me. It's got Rocky Balboa's mate in it, an excellent actor. Great movie.
-
June 26, 2006This one is not bad but I have seen too many amityville horros to get scared anymore. The climax occurs far too quickly though.
-
June 19, 2006awesome sequel to the origional amityville horror this was actially based on the accounts of the murder which was the cause of the hauntings in the origional I actially found I enjoyed this more then both versions of the amityville horror
-
June 6, 2006*tears of laughter roll in abundance* This has to be the comedy of the century, nay, millenium.
