November 14, 2008Beautiful movie.
Even though I hate the Red Sox.
And Jimmy Fallon can really act, he's funny, bright and charming in this film. -
November 1, 20087 year old Ben Wrightman (Jason Spevack) is going to a Red Sox game with his Uncle Carl to became a die-hard Red Sox fan. A school teacher Ben Wrightman (Jimmy Fallon) meets a professionally successful workaholic executive Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore) to become attracted to him because his ability to show a passionate commitment to something. Ben & Lindsay continue to attend the games together.

October 19, 2008so cute! gotta love jimmy fallon!
gotta love jimmy fallon!
jimmy fallon always makes me laugh! great movie! -
October 2, 2008I certainly wouldn't be happy if my guy's life was devoted to baseball, when he really offered to give up his baseball tickets, she came back with a happy ending and a perfect catch.
-
August 14, 2008I think this movie is absolutely adorable! Plus, it's based, AND filmed in Boston!
RED SOX, ALL THE WAY, BABY!? -
August 14, 2008This was a movie missed by most fellow Yankees fans because they think it was a movie about the Red Sox. People don't realize that the writer's originally wrote it about the Cincinnatti Reds. It was already in production when The Red Sox HAPPENED to get LUCKY that year. And seeing how it was such a cinderella story and there was such a thicker history with the Sox (and a bigger market for the movie, $$$), the writer's decided to change the team to the Red Sucks, er, I mean Soxs at the last moment. So, Yanks fans... get over yourself and enjoy this movie! It really was hilarious!!!
-
August 10, 2008I thought this movie was going to be corney,i mean jimmy fallon? but it was cute and there were even some moments where I laughed out loud :)
I enjoyed it! -
August 10, 2008Hmmmm. Let's see. Boston Redsox Season Tickets or Drew Barrymore. Sorry Massachusetts, Drew wins hands down. She is excellant as normal.
-
August 9, 2008Cute, Drew Barrymore tends to play roles that are mostly cute anyways, its a romantic comedy, if you like romantic comedies, youll like this one!
-
August 7, 2008Not nearly as good as its original, plus my friend is a huge annoying red sox fan, and Jimmy Falon sux
-
August 6, 2008my brother and dad hate this movie for some reason, i dont know why. i thought it was okay. a bit corny but not bad.
-
August 6, 2008The american adaptation of Nick Hornby's 'Fever Pitch' starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon who both give good performances in what I'd call romantic comedy at its most bearable. The careful scripting worked around soppy loved-up crap and instead emphasized light humour and the actual characters, who are pretty well defined if compared to other characters in similar films. It's quite hard not to side with Fallon's characters from start to finish, which was probably never the book's intention, and many parts are really dull which brings the rating down, but it's light and easy entertainment...

July 28, 2008As a child, "Ben" (Jimmy Fallon) fell in love with the Boston Red Sox and has been a member of the "Fenway Faithful" for years. Now he has grown up and has become a popular teacher who, while on a field trip with his class, meets "Lindsey" (Drew Barrymore) and becomes immediately smitten. He almost immediately asks the lovely woman out, and she accepts. At this time, his beloved Red Sox ended another disappointing season, so he has lots of time to focus on the new relationship.
At the start of the 2004 Baseball Season, "Lindsey" wants to introduce her boyfriend to the folks (JoBeth Williams, James B. Sikking), but during his annual trip down to Florida for Spring Training with his buddies. She tries to accommodate his love for the team, even going to games and learning the sport. She then learns that it would be in her best interest to focus on her job. Her girlfriends had warn her that "Ben" is too good to be true, and she begins to feel the same way when the couple get a pregnancy scare. After what turns out to be a false alarm, she asks "Ben" to give up some of the games left in the season. But it is a crucial time, as the Bo Sox are fighting to remain in the now-memorable Post-Season.
"Ben" tries to do as he promises, but being a member of Red Sox Nation, he is obsessed and refuses to give up his team.
Fallon is quite good as "Ben", and at times it feels as if the role was made just for him. Fans will be disappointed that Fallon isn't a complete and total nut in this movie. Others will enjoy his performance. Barrymore makes "Lindsey" loveable, and works well with Fallon. She is also tame in the comedic scenes, but it works in this case.
The Farrellys do a good job directing. They picked some great shots of Boston and Fenway Park, but they did little during the comedic scenes to enhance the comedic aspect of the film.
Part of the problem with the movie is that there are way too many scenes in Fenway's seats. Another problem is that there is very little development on the supporting cast. The supporting cast work well however, and did help the plot.
As a whole, Fever Pitch is an average romantic comedy that isn't spectacular. It doesn't stand out in the genre of romantic comedies. -
July 22, 2008I love baseball and this movie was really cute. I think that this movie has the chance to be an instant classic!
-
July 20, 2008If you are a Red Sox fan this movie will strike a chord! Certainly not great cinema but Red Sox Nation will understand it.Plus, my brother was in the stands during some of the filming!!!!
-
July 14, 2008God this was lame. Turned it off after about 20 minutes of Jimmy Fallon's usual nonsense. Drew Barrymore didn't even give this bad movie anything to be excited about. LAME LAME LAME!
-
June 29, 2008Jimmy Fallon was funny as the man obsessed with the Red Sox, unfortunately the Romantic Comedy aspect does not work. Drew Barrymore is charming, but I don't buy Fallon as a romantic lead and because of that they did not have any chemistry issues. Nonetheless, it found it funny because I could relate to Fallon myself (though I'm not a Red Sox fan). It's worth a rental, but nothing else.
-
June 29, 2008Although he was a Red Sox fan, I totally related to Jimmy Fallon's character...to the point of giving his obssesed fanship up for beautiful Drew Barrymore. But like most romantic comedies these days....all turns out ok in the end.
-
June 28, 2008I thought this was going to be stupid (I mean, come on -- Jimmy Fallon?) but it was actually really cute and there were even some moments where I laughed out loud. I enjoyed it despite myself (I'm a Yankees fan!)
-
June 26, 2008Are you kidding me? Baseball, ridiculous sports enthusiasm, a lame "love" and ever-so-disgusting Drew Barrymore in the same film? Pass.
-
No rating.June 25, 2008
It's a great comedy that involves a romantic love story that is cute and funny all at the same time!
-
June 1, 2008i really liked this film!
its another couple that have to compromise if they want to worl out together which of course in the end they do! -
May 30, 2008Why make an american movie, the english one is great with Colin Firth. Has it got anything to do with the sport ? Oh... by the way, don't read the book if you're not a really big soccer fan, it is terrible, took me 6 months to read
-
May 26, 2008This was a different type of romantic comedy. It had it's ups and it's downs. But the movie was pretty good. Drew Barrymore as always plays a very odd character. Jimmy Fallon the person who plays Ben. He was great. He was funny. It's a bit different from other movies because they invovle baseball into it. I loved the line he said at the end about loving baseball and then loving Lindsay.
-
May 24, 2008being a boston fan, had to watch it. then i laughed and then loved it. fallon plays the real boston fan to a t.
-
May 24, 2008'Lindsey Meeks: If you love me enough to sell your tickets, I love you enough not to let you.'
'Ben: You're gonna get arrested.
Lindsey Meeks: You can't sell your tickets!
Ben: That's why you ran across the whole field?... Wait, you've got to tell me - was it spongy?'
'Ben: You know what's really great about baseball?
Lindsey Meeks: Hmm?
Ben: You can't fake it. You know, anything else in life you don't have to be great in - business, music, art - I mean you can get lucky.
Lindsey Meeks: Really?
Ben: Yeah, you can fool everyone for awhile, you know? It's like - not - not baseball. You can either hit a curveball or you can't. That's the way it works...
Lindsey Meeks: Hmm.
Ben: You know?
Ben: You can have a lucky day, sure, but you can't have a lucky career. It's a little like math. It's orderly. Win or lose, it's fair. It all adds up. It's, like, not as confusing or as ambiguous as, uh...
Lindsey Meeks: Life?
Ben: Yeah. It's - it's safe.'
'Troy: Why do we inflict this on ourselves?
Ben: Why? I'll tell you why, 'cause the Red Sox never let you down.
Troy: Huh?
Ben: That's right. I mean - why? Because they haven't won a World Series in a century or so? So what? They're here. Every April, they're here. At 1:05 or at 7:05, there is a game. And if it gets rained out, guess what? They make it up to you. Does anyone else in your life do that? The Red Sox don't get divorced. This is a real family. This is the family that's here for you.' -
May 20, 2008Enjoyable so-so Farrelly romp. I laughed a good deal, but Barrymore continues to sink further and further past what is mediocrity.
-
May 9, 2008standard, yet cute, rom-com flick with a very likeable Peter Farrelly. A nice movie, if a bit shallow.
-
April 8, 2008oh... i loved!!
I have a yanquee's fan boyfriend and Im a red sox's fan myself... so it was just fun to watch togheter -
April 8, 2008A cute rom-com.
Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon have great chemisty, plus they look great together. -
April 8, 2008I love this film, it's so romantic and funny, definatly on to cosy up on the couch with your loved one to watch ^^
-
April 4, 2008I love this movie, I would like to see it again, I am glad I now know the name...last time I saw it on T.V.
-
March 30, 2008This movie has three things that I hate. One being the genre that it falls into "romantic comedy" that is almost a guarantee that it is going to suck. Secondly, I cannot stand baseball, watching it, playing it, hearing people talk about it, hate it, get the picture?! Lastly...I hate the mug that is Jimmy Fallon. Every scene that he is he has an air of arrogance that just ruins everything. All I can think of when I see him is how he used to laugh through all of his comic skits on Saturday Night Live...he's an unprofessional tool.
This movie is ridiculous, not funny in any way and the only thing that saves me from hunting down every single copy of this DVD and burning it is because of Drew Barrymore. -
March 29, 2008The novelist behind "High Fidelity" and the guys behind "Me, Myself, and Irene"? That combo does not compute.
-
March 29, 2008Esta pelicula me gusta pero creo que a la mayoria de la gente no por que casi todas las que me gustan son romanticas pero bueno ni modo asi soy espero que les guste
-
March 28, 2008Drew Barrymore borders on annoying, but that doesn't necessarily take away the rom-com quality this film brings.
-
March 26, 2008Far from the Farelly's best, but not their worst either. I've just never been a big fan of Drew Barrymore, nor Jimmy Fallon for that matter. It did have its moments though, even if it never quite reached the level of high quality comedy.
-
March 18, 2008you gotta love any movie with jimmy fallon hes hilarious.. i wouldnt have used drew barrymore though
-
March 3, 2008Cute I guess, If you can tolerate Jimmy Fallon.
I am a huge Dodger fan, so I guess I can appreciate the love on one's team. -
February 28, 2008I have wanted to see this movie ever since it was out just because I like any movie that has Drew Barrymore in it. She is so spontaneous and pretty. I was ok if you are a spots fan. I am not !!!! just a Drew Barrymore fan ;-)
-
February 10, 2008hay esta tierma
(:
además por esa peli conocí la rola de sweet caroline y es la netizima :D:D wiwiwi -
February 8, 2008Sometimes I forget that there are genuine, cute romantic comedies out there that don't completely insult an audience's intelligence. This film is quite lovable, even if one does constantly have the urge to fix Drew Barrymore's hair. There's nothing unexpected here, but plenty of chuckle-worthy moments and the infectious communication of both utter despair and sheer joy from a sports-obsessed city make it worth watching and maybe even watching again.
-
February 3, 2008can't watch this as there change so much of the story (it about Football team (soccer) - not baseball) watch the orginal movie
-
February 1, 2008this is a case of bros' (or in this case sports) before hos' i don't know if i could put up with my husband taking sports over me...I know...call me selfish. It is still a good movie to see
-
January 30, 2008Amazingly, it didn't suck as bad as I thought it would. Mind you, it sucked huge style, but it wasn't as sucktasmic as I had originally suspected.. How can Jimmy Fallon continually get work? And why does Drew Barrymore only have two modes of acting?
-
January 22, 2008Funny and cute, just as Drew Barrymore's other "acceptable" film, "50 first dates". For the second time in a row, we buy it. You laugh, you feel in love and you care about the characters. Good job... but that's it.
-
January 12, 2008awwwww.......i love this movie.....i'm like a mini, 5'4 drew barrymore, just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more clumsy and with brown/blonde natural highlited hair by the sun from soccer.lol
-
January 11, 2008Eh I wasn't a real fan of this movie. It just wasn't that funny. Just a lot of stupid humor. But then again Jimmy Fallon is in it. What was I expecting?
-
January 1, 2008Cute movie but not as good as the previous adaptation of the Hornby novel, perhaps in part because the chemistry is not as strong.
-
December 30, 2007I was actually expecting 'Fever Pitch' to be quite funny when I went to go see it. I knew it would be kind of stupid, since I hate baseball (especially the freakin' Red Sox) but I thought it would at least have many humorous moments. I was wrong. I laughed maybe five or six times tops. 'Fever Pitch' just ins't that funny. It's actually pretty lame, and the two leads aren't that great. I think Jimmy Fallon shouldn't have ever left SNL, because all his movies are terrible. Drew Barrymore is okay (probably the best thing about the film) and the rest of the supporting cast is barely noticeable. I don't think 'Fever Pitch' will apply to anyone who isn't a baseball fan, or Red Sox fan for that matter.
I find it kind of sad there are actually people who are such losers to praise these baseball players so much and get bent out of shape and throw a big fit when they loose. Let me put it this way, people who put a sports game in front of every thing and every relationship in there life need therapy. Jimmy Fallon's character is the perfect example of this. He plays a private school teacher who teaches math (who all the students love) and he's seemingly normal. Drew Barrymore plays a independent corporate executive who meets Fallon during a school field trip. They hit it off, and everything seems to be going perfectly in their relationship. She starts to worry and think there has to be something wrong with him. Well, there is a huge problem wrong with him. He thinks the Red Sox are more important than breathing (pretty crazy, huh?!) Barrymore tries to except this and be with him anyway, but Fallon's idiotic and compulsive obsession becomes a huge problem.
In conclusion, 'Fever Pitch' isn't for anyone except Red Sox fans. They would love it, I was very disappointed in it. I wouldn't say I hated it or thought it was a bad movie, it was just very bland and unappealing. As I end this movie review I'll leave you with this thought -- Red Sox fans believe in the Curse of the Bambino. I believe in the Curse of the SNL members -- after SNL they go on to make crappy and unsuccessful films. Only three members have proved this wrong (Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and most recently, Will Ferrell), and I can tell you for sure Jimmy Fallon won't join the short list. Mike Myers doesn't count because Austin Powers was a fluke, and the rest of his films stink. Grade: C- (Screened at AMC Deer Valley 30, Phoenix, Arizona, 4/9/05) -
December 25, 2007Great movie! If your a Red Sox's fan you'll love it! A contemporary romantic comedy about a high school teacher who meets and falls in love with a successful businesswoman. Although their lives are vastly different, the relationship seems perfect until the baseball season begins and she has to compete with his first true love: the Boston Red Sox.
-
December 7, 2007Love this movie. Romance, comedy and sports all in one flick. Even do, I'm not a sox fan, I just love it. And amazing performances by Drew Barrymore and jimmy Fallon is just great!!
-
December 4, 2007Great story of how two people can fall for each other when one is obsessed with Baseball! And how they get over it and live happily ever after =D
-
December 2, 2007Loved this movie. Light hearted romantic comedy with excellent performances by Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore.
-
December 1, 2007I ain't a redsocks fan, and hearing Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" being slaughtered by the Redsocks Horde during their home games isn't easy listening.
-
November 19, 2007I don't care for Jimmy Fallon, but it is a pretty cute movie. It gets me all turned- on for the baseball season.
-
November 19, 2007I like the Farrellys and this is an interesting adaptation/development of the Nick Hornby book. On a par with the original British movie, which pretty much stuck to the book (about soccer, not baseball).
-
October 26, 2007here it's called the perfect catch, and she gave up too easily! she could have kept going and then he wouldn't have cared about baseball!....
-
October 12, 2007this is a sweet movie about the love for one another but also showing a passion for something else and in this case baseball. a sort of down to earth movie, makes u longing for that someone to spend time with
-
October 7, 2007i haven't seen a romantic comedy in a while and this one is great, u can laugh to it, there's the great Drew Barrymore and the always hillarious Jimmy Fallon that gave life to their love together in this cool movie....especially if ur a Red Sox fan u'll probably gonna like this a lot!!! A movie that anyone could like in my opinion, i don't know why so many have rated it so low cuz it's funny and a little bit of romance which anybody likes sooner or later, or once in a while!!!
-
October 3, 2007I really liked this movie, it actually stays close to how relationships can be and how people can deal with this problem.
-
October 1, 2007Good chick flick. Had a good way of getting you thinking about if you would give up the most important thing in your life right now if it got in the way of true love.
-
September 30, 2007This movie should never have been made. The y should have donated the money to a baseballteam or something else more usefull. Don´t see this movie!!!
-
September 16, 2007Baseball good. Jimmy Fallon good. Movie with Drew Berrymore bad. Movie about the Boston Red Soxs, very very bad. Go Yankees!

September 12, 2007Still one of my favorite movies. I loved the relationship between Barrymore & Fallon. It was believable & funny.
I totally feel in love with Jimmy Fallon in this movie. His role in this movie showed me the perfect guy...
Not a Red Sox fan, but still liked the storyline. This is one that I watch over and over again, & still continue to love. -
September 12, 2007Where do the Sox rank in terms of importance in your life?
I say the Red Sox... sex... and breathing. -
September 7, 2007hrm, this one was hard to watch, very hard (I'm a die hard Yankee fan)...but sadly the story reminded me of my entire family...we actually schedule things around the yankee schedule...how sad are we?
-
September 6, 2007This was a great movie! I love the pair of Drew Barrymoore and Jimmy Fallon I still lyke drew and adam sandler more. Because Fallon is 2 cute! anyway, great movie. Awesome plot and best ending.
-
September 2, 2007Its called A Perfect Catch in Oz but everywhere in the world it still sucks penis. I can't stand Fallon in a 5 min SNL sketch so it was tough sitting through a film with him which I couldn't and gave up halfway through.
-
August 30, 2007Really a cute movie. It helps that I'm a Red Sox fan, so I can kinda understand the whole issue there... lol
-
August 16, 2007i never notice how sexy jimmy fallon was until i saw this movie. Boston red sox are trash but this movie was really cool.
-
August 12, 2007how can one guy be so obsessed with baseball it is only fun if u r playing it not watching @ least 4 me
-
August 12, 2007Good movie, enjoyed this. It was based on base ball but it was still a girly movie. Highlights the need to give and take and prioritise whats really important
-
August 9, 2007This warm hearted romantic comedy about a high school teacher who falls in with a successful businesswoman even though their lives are so different seems like the perfect relationship until the Baseball season starts and she has to compete with his first true love the Boston Red Sox..part of this movie was filmed at the actual world series win for the Red Sox..starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon directed by " There's something About Mary" directing bros The Farrelly's
-
August 8, 2007I thought this was a cute romantic comedy. I mainly wanted to watch it for the Boston memories, thinking it would be stupid. But Jimmy Fallon's so adorable. How can you not love him?
-
August 5, 2007Meh decent expected a lot better from Saturday Night Live star Jimmy Fallon. Taxi wasn't the best film, but it was better than this.
-
August 1, 2007Hmmmm.. it comes out when i was surfing my TV.
