August 13, 2008I had to watch this with my husband, it actually wasn't bad. It had a good story and Malkovich and Sinise played well off each, they were in sync.(not the boys band)
-
August 13, 2008A very sad film... it made me cry! I love this, the cast is brilliant and the screenplay is marvalous!
-
July 20, 2008a well done effort here, if only because the producers reached so high in attempting steinbeck's classic consideration of what could be most important after we take care of the basics, like survival...how we care for each other? sinise is better than i first thought he could be, and walston is always a fine addition to any work he is in, but this is malkovich's show as he literally shines as the simple lenny...
-
June 17, 2008I did not like this movie, but it's probably more the content than the movie itself. I didn't like the book, either.
-
June 13, 2008I read the book in High school, havent seen the movie...dont know if I would be interested enough to hire it.
-
June 10, 2008If there ever was a tear-jerker this is it. I read the book my freshman year of high school then saw the movie and both times I choked up. I find that older movies (and movies based on novels in general) have so much more substance to them. Both actors played the roles of Lenny and George it was much too believable to not make me love it.
-
June 7, 2008this movies fine i guess it was only the third time this movie was done i think the one with the guy who killed his wife was better
-
-
April 19, 2008I did not expect the ending. Under the circumstances, it was probably the most merciful thing his friend could do but how sad!
-
March 12, 2008An entertaining and decent adaptation, but far from being the best. The performances and the cast are what make this movie.
-
February 28, 2008I cried so hard! OMG! John Malkovich and Gary Sinise are an amazing pair, the way they play off each other! Simply divine!
-
February 24, 2008i cried as much during the movie as when i was reading the book ... the only think that was missing was the giant rabbit

December 1, 2007This film is very good I watched this because I did of mice and men book in English so I watched the film I cried at the end
-
November 18, 2007Superb!! Malkovich is an excellent actor as Lennie!! Ending was quite dissapointing though as it didn't reach the poignant ending of the book.
-
November 7, 2007Probably one of the saddest and brilliant adapdation ever. The actors are amazing. We stick to the story from the beginning till the end.
-
November 5, 2007its ok
its interesting and gives you a look at what it was like back then but the ending is a bit rushed i felt but diffenertly worth a watch -
October 17, 2007I mean I know I'm watching this flim for my GCSEs but this film rocks evan if I have seen 30 mins. But John Malkovich as lennie is just fucking brillient!!!!
-
October 7, 2007Doesn't beat the book, but comes close. Outstanding performances all around, gotta love John as Lennie
-
October 7, 2007Oh how the book came alive. Just as sad the ending, I'm afraid, which means the director did everything correctly.
-
September 27, 2007Oh, I love this movie.. First I read the book and then at English we saw the movie and I just loooove everything about this story =)
-
September 26, 2007i dont know wat to think about this movie. it was kinda boring but it was a good story. the book written by john steinbeck was better than the movie
-
September 25, 2007I liked the book and the cast sounds alright. I don't know if it's necessary to make a movie out of it though.
-
September 22, 2007i didnt think i would but i quite liked this film. i only did because id read the book the day before i saw it other wise it would have flown straight over my head, and john malchovic give yet another amazing performance
-
September 21, 2007I'm not gonna be one of those condescending snobs and say that the book was much better...only because I slept through 9th grade English class and can't remember the book well enough. I do know that this was a darn good movie, faithful or not. Sinise was an obvious choice as the protective and brash George, while Malkovich seemed like a possible miscast as Lenny...but boy he pulled out a great performance. Touching story of a lost dream: something that was probably common-theme during the great depression.
-
August 30, 2007I can't watch this often because it's so damn sad just like all of Steinbeck's work. But it's still very good.
-
August 18, 2007I've seen Of Mice and Men in three different movie forms, and twice on stage, once in London.
But you can't beat Sinise and Malkovich. They're perfect. -
August 14, 2007An adequate imagining of Steinbeck's wonderful novel. Just doesn't strive for greatness by playing it safe
-
August 11, 2007i was deceived. it is very well interpretted but i read the book before seing it and they dont quite look like i immagined :( but i quite love that story alot.
-
August 11, 2007'Of Mice and Men' is one of the best books ever written and this is a tremendous adaptation. Gary Sinise and John Malkovich are wonderful choices for the roles of George and Lenny while Sherilyn Fenn puts in a great performance as Curly's wife. Truly beautifully made and more touching with each viewing but I need to see the original in 1939 to tell you if this is the best adaptation out there. Steinbeck would have approved for sure.
-
August 10, 2007One of the best books and best movies. The casting is perfect. A beautiful bitter-sweet tale of friendship
-
August 8, 2007I think there was a bit of overacting involved here, but I won't mention any names, JOHN MALKOVICH...
-
August 1, 2007i just love this movie! One of the few books we had to study for English Lit that i actually liked and continue to read alot. The characters and cast off set every thing about this story so beautifully. Gary Sinese and John Malkovich play Lenny and George with such neutrality as though they were born for the roles.
The only let down was the ending, lackes the emotion and power of the book as its too abrupt, missing the tender and raw scene in the final part of the book. -
July 19, 2007This classic novel turned movie is awsome. The acting was terrific and the turn of events at the end was something to be sad and questioned. Very good!
-
July 7, 2007Pretty good adaption of amazing Steinbeck novel. Sinise and Malkovich are very good, and the script stays true to the story.
-
July 6, 2007what a tear jerker this film is. when Gary Sinise shoot John Malkovich in the head because he loves him so much
-
June 30, 2007Nothing can caompair to the book, but the movie does show a lot of insite as far as what was in the book.
-
June 29, 2007First of all, the book is amazing and this movie stays pretty true to it. It isn't enough to say that Sinise and Malkovich were amazing.
-
June 26, 2007this is a really really good movie i saw this when i was in highschool with my class along with the lord of the flies
-
June 19, 2007Having just read the fantastic book, I'm really interested in watching this film version from 1992, particularly as it stars and is directed by the underrated Gary Sinise.
-
June 16, 2007Thanks to his great directing, Sinise's (mostly) faithful adaptation succeeds in capturing the lonesome and dry mood that Steinbeck's powerful novel introduced to us first. But narratively, as a movie, Of Mice and Men does not really work : those who know the story by heart and its poignant climax will most likely be bored out of their minds and the ones that haven't read the source material will probably go 'huh?'. Still, it's a worthy experiment, hopefully NOT to be remade in the future... and the casting of Malkovich as Lennie was brilliant.
-
June 15, 2007Fairly faithful to the book this deep story will get you thinking...If nothing else feel free to enjoy the awesome acting!
-
June 12, 2007A great book, the movie was dumbed down some, but strong acting performances, especially Gary Sinise, make this a true classic.
-
June 9, 2007It's alright i will say, the book is better and the actors are really good in this film, John Malkovich was amazing as lennie
-
May 29, 2007Practically watched this film on a loop during GCSE. That's what happens when you don't have a teacher, they make you watch videos.
-
May 28, 2007Watched this one in High School. Not bad, as I pointed out in the original's comment(1939 version), book was way better.
-
May 27, 2007My all time favorite movie. Ive watched it so many times and I still cry every time I watch it! I watched it on television when I was a lot younger and now have added a copy to our personal collection.
-
April 25, 2007I'm the fan of "Of Mice and Men" Novel!! But not movie.. many things were missin'.. Beautiful Imagination can't be replaced. I think the movie is incomplete!! Lack of good atmosphere and good camera work..
I cried all everytime for the novel.. but not one for The Movie!! Anyway it's not that bad.. Still it contain good things to watch. -
April 22, 2007A great remake of the 1939 classic film based on the novel. I thought a lot of remakes are bad, not this one. Well acted and well directed. Gary Sinise is super as actor and director of this movie. John Malkovich 's performance as Lenny is outstanding. A touching movie with heart.
-
April 19, 2007I loved the book and I love the film it potrays the friendship george and lenny have brillantly that your so aware all though the book the ending is so sad makes me cry but it's an act of friendship
-
April 3, 2007The book was the most worthless piece of crap I have ever read, but for some reason I enjoyed the movie.
-
No rating.March 31, 2007
this is an awesome book and the movie is just as good...i cried like a baby...very well done....gary sinise did an outstanding job directing this film....
-
March 28, 2007I was very unimpressed with John Malkovich until this role. This role was bar-none his best performance. Very true to the book; it was like reading it again.
-
March 19, 2007this movie was recommended to me by a friend, and i daresay i enjoyed the whole movie experience. this film showcases some of the finest actors of the decade, top-billed by no less than gary sinise and john malkovich.
-
March 13, 2007I loved the book and the movie is just like the book. I really liked it I thought both actors did a fabulous job.
-
March 12, 2007What a great version of this story! Gary and John are so great together!!! Pleasant change of pace from Malkovich's psycho roles!
-
March 7, 2007i absolutely loved every single moment of the movie, it was soo captivating and it was so sad! i felt so bad for lenny, i mean it aint his fault that he's slow...and like its just sad that he has to depend so much on george, and gary sinise was so brilliant in this movie, he portrayed the role of george brilliantly! and bonus points go to the movie because it very much respected the whole book right down to the last detail...its a masterpiece!
-
March 7, 2007Really dark afterall. Felt bad for John Malkovich, who creeps me out anyway. Sad ending, I was really disappointed.

Although I am ashamed that this was my first expoure to this story, I can only hope that it's true to the book. I sympathized greatly with Gary Sinise's (sp?) character, and completely agreed with his final decision. I also thought that the actor in the part of Candy was well chosen.
-
March 3, 2007Maybe a better director would have done the book justice. As it is this film's just plain crap. The climax of the argument between Crooks and Curley's wife is left out, Lennie's death scene is a dog's dinner, and pointless montages of the farmhands working destroy whatever grittiness there was. Good chemistry between Sinise and Malkovich though, so at least it got something right.
-
March 1, 2007A very clever film! Gary Sinise and John Malkovitch are very good together and it is a great adaptation of Steinbeck's novel.
-
February 25, 2007This adaption of the theatre classic is fantastic. John Malkovich as the giant Lenny is one of the finest examples of acting anywhere! Gary Sinise, as Lenny's friend and protector, George, embodies the character and illustrates the love and respect that man is capable of.
-
February 20, 2007Two migrant workers in the Great Depression era have a dream--to save enough money to buy a small farm and settle down. Lenny is a mentally challenged, slow giant of a man who often unintentionally hurts the things he loves. He relies on George for guidance and even rescue from dangerous situations. His final tragic rescue illustrates that the best laid plans "of mice and men" do often fail.
-
February 12, 2007This adaptation of the John Stienbeck classic isnt the first but I believe the increadable and poinent cehmistry of John Malkavitch and Garry Senes makes it the best. Like the book, always a sob fest!
-
February 12, 2007Sinese can direct. This is pretty straightforward, but handled with such humanity that I'm glad I saw this film before any other, and before reading the book.
-
February 5, 2007it was ok up until wen the woman dies i dont like movies or books wen women die or anything else i see as depresive i had 2 read the book 4 my gcse's
-
February 2, 2007Read the book. Havn't seen the movie though, but looking at the actors, im sure they do the book justice!

January 10, 2007I rate the book very very highly and was expecting to be disappointed with Sinise's interpretation but i was blown away by every single actor's performance, not one bad line from anyone. Fantastic and very well handled by all involved.
-
January 9, 2007Read the book and watch the film at High School and its probably the only thing i learnt about or liked at school. Wonderful story.
-

December 15, 2006Steinbeck's classic. It's a short book, very easy read. I want to see the film, but you all ought to read the novel.
-
December 4, 2006Can't really be sure. only watched the start in an english lesson 'cause we were reading the book. Good book though!
-
November 24, 2006I think every kid was forced to watch this in school or at least read the book. My advice read the book...it is much better(even though that sounds cliche)
-
November 22, 2006A sentimental one, but a good adaptation from Steinback's novella. Gary Sinise and Malko make it a very good little watch.
-
November 19, 2006i hear that the book is really good and i want to read it and see this movie because i heard about it from LOST the most riveting and thrilling series on t.v. even though they will not be showing a new episode until February 7th and i mean that just totally SUCKS SO BAD.........................................................
-

-
November 18, 2006wow. i dont normally enjoy a movie i watch in school this much. the acting is AMAZING. the last scene with george and lennie made me cry, ill admit. its so sad and beautiful and Gary Sinise really got what George was going through at that moment. i got a huge sense of pain but also of love and it totally shook me up, i was in tears. great movie!
-
November 18, 2006This is a really good adaptation of the film, I think that the actors got Lenny and George right down to a tee. Very moving.
-
November 18, 2006Love the book and loved the film. Perfect casting. I don't think Lenny and George could have been played by anyone else.
-
November 16, 2006The movie is quite good, but the book was really better ! But there's something really great in the movie that doesn't appear in the book : John Malkovich !
-
November 15, 2006it is the best movie i have seen. but is it so sad and so sudden.i had to watch it for engilsh and loved every moment of it. i watched it like 2 more times it was great. I hope there is another movie like it.
