Dialogue Fairly wordy for an action comic. Once known for such punctuations as “Pow!” and “Kablam!” “Bat” used as suffix: Batphone, Batmobile, Batarang, etc.only conceived in the 50'/60's - a time of bright revolution. After the war, the creators saw it pointless to pursue the dark undertone of the comic which the recent graphic novels replicate. Emphasis on action and brooding. Joker’s catchphrase: “Why so serious?”
Aesthetic As one of the first superheroes, Batman’s look is classic caped crusader and has evolved over time. Currently quite dark, urban and gritty which also mirrors the original comics from the 1930's/40's, a time of war and despair across the globe, Batman was conceived as a better use for governing officials around the world and was a giant euphemism. Dark with saturated colors and an urban grit.
Ambiance An undercurrent of gloom, stemming from the death of Wayne’s parents and his mostly solitary pursuit of justice, permeates the comic. Gloomy, yes, but also fast-paced and lit by frequent explosions.
Audience Teens, men, females Teens, men, families, women, women who crave Christian Bale,
Cool Factor High High
Cheese Factor Low, though there have been some corny eras. Definitely low, after camp detours on small and silver screen.
Adaptation Accuracy
Nailed it.
Better or Bastardization?
Better, in terms of audience and cultural impact
