Bill Gillis

A tall, gaunt-looking cowboy from Texas, reportedly in films already by 1906, Bill Gillis (born William S. Gillis) enjoyed a thriving career playing mostly villains in Westerns of the 1920s. A riding extra in countless films after the changeover to sound, Gillis retired after yet another unbilled performance, in Gary Cooper's The Westerner in 1940.
