A Taste of Whale

This is very hard to watch... You know what side the filmmakers are on, obviously, but to their credit they do try to give these people the space to explain themselves.

A refreshingly multidimensional take on the controversy around whale hunting in the Faroe Islands, a tradition that dates back to the 9th century.

This solid both-sides-now overview also raises wider questions regarding humanity’s sometimes-hypocritical ethics toward what we eat, where we get it, and how.

It's too obvious what position the filmmakers are taking. It's just not very satisfying as a film.

Without more compelling central characters, the urgency wanes and you must cut through too much blubber.

Both sides of the argument wind up seeming a little narrow-minded.
