Love the franchise. Ridley Scott is a visionary. Like Steven Spielberg or Christopher Nolan.

I see good and bad in this; the good is, this movie is a classic that must be seen. Weaver was fantastic as the heroine and the claustrophobic nature of the film puts you on the edge of your seat. No monster has been more terrofying than the Zenomorph. Scrary but I still think The Exorcist is the scariest movie ever created, and Aliens 2 is better, if you want more action over atmosphere. The bad is, Hollywood can't come up with anything original so they re-release classics like this. If you've never seen Aliens, definitely see it on the big screen with surround sound. Worth the money.

My favorite and the best achievable or imaginable Sci-Fi/Horror movie that will ever be made! I believe no movie will ever top the scare ratio that this movie gives anyone. I saw this when it premiered in 1979... This flick tripped me out!! The most original Sci-Fi to come along in a long time. Ridley Scott's direction for this movie is impressively superb! All the plot twist and turns work so well. And with H.R. Giger's outstandingly beautiful artwork took us farther down the rabbit hole than anyone could have imagined. Only he could pull off the horrifically beautiful planet sets that needed to be conceived. I got off on this movie so much, so, I became a huge ALIEN nerd fan to this movie. I've seen it in theaters at least 5, 6 times. And my own copies at lease 100 times since the first time released on VHS. I've collected the books, comics, action figures, etc. since it's release in '79. Still collecting! And have purchased a ticket for the 45th on Alien Day! (Remember..the ALIEN was not known as a Xenomorph and the planet was not known as LV-426!) Thank you Ridley Scott for a rerelease! SIKED!

Haven't seen the re-release, but the original is the scariest movie I've ever seen. I ill-advisedly watched it at a bit too young of an age, and it scared the s*** out of me. It still scares me just to think about it. Course, since then I've seen it at least five times. The original and undisputed king of sci-fi horror. It's The Beatles of that genre.
