Alita: Battle Angel

It's sort of overlong and overstuffed, but Rosa Salazar is quite good.

As spectacle, the film is aces. It welds Rodriguez's eccentric touch with action and special effects to Cameron's mastery of world-building.

If only the story of Alita: Battle Angel had been as impressive as its technical achievements.

It suffers because like most of the Cameron stories, its not a deep story and unfortunately the special effects are really strong, but they are not revolutionary.

The ending is both daring and, when we finally see who is controlling that space city, all set up for a sequel.

A cyberpunk epic based on a popular manga with a strong pedigree behind the camera, should be an event movie, advertised and anticipated as one of the big films of the year.

Our leading character Alita goes through a lot of development throughout this story, and it is engaging to watch.

Alita: Battle Angel is one of those movies that you HAVE TO watch at a movie theater (...) it's a visual experience, so do waste your time and money in supporting this film. Alita alone deserves that effort.

I really enjoyed watching Alita Battle Angel. This is by far one of the better American live-action adaptations that’s been done.

However simplistic the characters and often banal the dialogue may be, Alita: Battle Angel offers an escapist science-fiction showpiece that may not be high art, but it nonetheless offers an important component of the moviegoing experience: spectacle.
