Anatomy of a Fall
audience Reviews
, 90% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTotally brilliant, but intense and disturbing. There are few films which expose raw emotions in family relations so deeply and honestly. And there's a dog in it who also plays a not negligible part.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars2 hours too see what I knew when started the movie
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsAlthough I enjoy movies based on family drama, this one in particular did not please me. The movie is way too long and the story development too slow. There is really no need for it to be that long.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsShut off about 15 minutes in. Unless you speak French its terrible to watch because its 90% in French with no Sub-Titles and you have to guess what is happening.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTotally engaging unfeigned film making...a gem absolute
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI wasted my time watching Anatomy of a fall. I never review any movie but after watching this I can't stop. First I thought it is best movie but very disappointed. There is nothing to watch in the movie. I thought atleast in the end there may be any suspense in the movie but there is nothing to watch. The movie just got rating and awards but don't know how. The movie should complete only in 5 - 10 minutes but The writer and Director expand it to more than 2 hours. I can't stop myself from writing the review first time in my life because I completely disappointed and wasted my 2 and 1/2 hour. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TO WATCH THIS MOVIE.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe most striking element of this film is the script. Sandra Hüller takes the script and puts every ounce of passion she has into her character. Her performance is moving and believable. With each scene, she peels back the layers of humanity for all to see. Her portrayal of the character's belief in her own innocence contrasts with the evidence of her husband's death that seemingly condemns her. The surrounding cast plays off of her desperate energy. Her chemistry with Milo Machado-Graner is particularly precious. CONTINUE READING ON LETTERBOXD: https://boxd.it/66BjTb
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsNeeded to watch this in theaters for my rating to be higher but I wasn't able to so I couldn't fully appreciate it.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI always rely on this site for reviews but no more. This was dull and not a psychological thriller at all. From 20 mns in, there were 2 possible outcomes, and I watched for 2 hrs to watch one come to fruition, reading half of it in subtitles. Nothing psychological, nothing thrilling at all. Embarrassed I wasted my date night movie choice on this.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsThere are a lot of scenes that take place in a court, so I guess you can categorise this as a court room drama, but for me it wasn't. It was more of an art house study of a troubled marriage and the reasons behind it, wrapped up in a "did she or didn't she?" murder mystery. Overall I found it slow but was aware that was the nature of the type of movie I was watching. A more intriguing plot or more interesting characters may have made the slow pace less noticeable, but it fell short on those elements. The directing and performances created an unsettling, anxious atmosphere throughout, and I often felt the story was going to reveal something dark or unexpectedly shocking, but it never did. The most compelling aspect that kept me watching was to learn the truth behind the aforementioned mystery, but even that was left ambiguous and consequently there was no pay off or strong argument for giving this movie 2 hours of your time. Despite this I thought it was ok, the story was original and for the most part interesting. It's well made and the actors playing the Mother and Son gave strong performances. Perhaps the fact that the story remained grounded (if somewhat underwhelming) as opposed to having a Hollywood ending with a big reveal or preposterous twist, is part of its appeal.
