Giving as little historical context as humanly possible, the movie expects you to nod along with a condensed string of sentimental stories from witnesses, while its main character gains more and more confidence that they can emerge victorious from this. The prevailing ambiance of the era at the time is confidently portrayed. The dialogue strikes a balance between humor and drama without diminishing either of those, and that's good news because the speeches in this movie are long yet poignant.

Overlong but I like how it uses the legal thriller conventions in conjunction with real history.

Un must.

Viewer will probably benefit if they are somewhat familiar with the premise of the story, because going in cold, it was somewhat confusing.

My knowledge of the Argentinian military junta of the '70s was limited to the Falklands War and "Las Madres de los Desaparecidos." Not only did this film teach me more about that period of Argentina's history, it did so in a compelling courtroom drama that is both superbly scripted and superbly acted. It's well worth a watch.

Steadfastly riveting and crowd-pleasingly chest-thumping, this Academy Award nominee for Best International Feature Film is a historical courtroom drama chronicling the 1985 Trial of the Juntas where members of the Argentinean military government kidnap, torture and murderer tens of thousands of their own citizens under the dictatorship of the National Reorganization Process.

Great job from the writers in sticking to the history of things while making the movie highly entertaining. As per usual, Darín's acting is nothing short of phenomenal, but the other actors do an amazing job as well, tying together an A+ movie that is surely worth the watch for its depth and historical importance.

Argentina, 1985 is an intense and powerful film. A film about justice and injustice. Searingly honest and quite moving at times it's a very impressive time. The film details a momentous time in Argentina's history, the 1985 trial of the military junta that ruled Argentina for eight years. In that time thousands of people had been tortured and murdered before democracy was restored. The new democratic government asked public prosecutor Julio Strassera to bring the military leaders to justice. With the help of Luis Ocampo and a very young team they obtain testimonies from victims to use in the trial. The prosecution team also receives death threats heightening the tension and drama. This is an expertly made courtroom drama with moving testimony and great drama. It feels real and gritty. A longish film it never loses momentum at all. Ricardo Darin is superb as Strassera, as are the entire cast. A powerful and impressive film.

A historical moment that marked the democratic future in Argentina. Supported by some spectacular performances, the story expresses the fight supported by fear and, at the same time, courage to carry out a coup of justice. Testimonials of the victims that do not hide the vivid cruelty. The prosecution, supported by a young group, changed the political thinking of an entire country.

I was not able to sleep one night and I was strolling through my fire stick TV. I saw this movie, "Argentina, 1985", I read the synopsis of the movie, decided to watch this movie Based on a True Story. It was very compelling. atrocities like this must never happen again the bravery of the prosecutors and the ingenious Decision to hire all a young, legal team… truly ingenious. It reminded me of the words of Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower WW2 , Eisenhower foresaw a day when the horrors of the Holocaust might be denied. He invited the media to document the scene. He compelled Germans living in the surrounding towns and any soldier not fighting at the front to witness the atrocities for themselves.
